Diggstown (1992)

Question: In the locker room before the fights begin, Gillon uses the phrase, "blind as Tidwell's goat." What is the reference here? I've looked online and can't find anything about it.

Chanteuse66

Answer: Maybe it's just a local reference known only to the local residents of Diggstown. Then again, I can't find any info on the town of Diggstown either.

Diggstown, GA is a fictional town.

Jumanji (1995)

Question: At the part where Peter cheated and got "devolved," he says that he was TEN spaces away, and then he says that he tried to win by dropping the dice so that they landed on TWELVE. Why would he want to roll a 12 in order to move 10 spaces?

Chanteuse66

Chosen answer: Most games don't need you to roll the exact number of spaces left in order for someone to win. By rolling twelve he gets to move his ten spaces & has won. I'm assuming it's easier for him to roll two sixes than anything else.

Noises Off... (1992)

Question: After the burglar comes in and is carrying on a running monologue as he continually enters and exits, he says something about it being time to hand over the ammonia bottle to a younger man. I don't understand the reference about the ammonia bottle - could someone enlighten me?

Chanteuse66

Chosen answer: I have the script/play and the reference is merely a part of a continuous ranting dialoge that the burglar is riffing on about being so digusted in being a burglar that he laments quitting the 'job' and "handing over the ammonia bottle" to a younger man. Passing on the 'family business" as it were. The ammonia bottle refers to what burglars use in their trade.

There's No Place Like Home (2) - S5-E6

Continuity mistake: At the end, when Lars Hanson hears the church bell ringing, he gets up from his bed and goes to look out the window. When he first gets up, his hair is completely tousled - definite "bed head." The shot changes to show him leaning out the window, and his hair is neatly combed. When the shot returns to the inside of the room, his hair is once again rumpled and untidy.

There's No Place Like Home (2) - S5-E6

Other mistake: At the very end, Mr. Hanson is seen walking toward the church. Because of his stroke, he's slow and unsteady. We see several close-ups of his feet, showing how he's struggling. Two of those shots are the same footage. It's obvious, because you see that he drags his foot over a small stick in the road and stumbles - and in both shots, it is exactly the same.

Happy Days (1974)

Marion: Fairy Godmother - S6-E21

Continuity mistake: Ralph is at Al's after everyone else has left on their dates. He's depressed and as he walks up to a table, you can see a couple of plates of food sitting on it. Then Fonzie comes in (hitting the wall to turn the lights on) and Ralph looks away from the table (he doesn't move otherwise). Then they show the table again - which is completely empty.

Coyote Ugly (2000)

Continuity mistake: In the scene right after Violet and Kevin have just made love and he gives her the guitar, you can see the guitar strap is twisted on her shoulder. Then the shot pulls back and the strap is lying flat. Next close-up shot and the strap is twisted again.

Noises Off... (1992)

Question: When Mrs. Clackett tells Flavia that the bed hasn't been aired, Flavia says, "I'll get a hot water bottle." What is the hot water bottle for?

Chanteuse66

Chosen answer: Hot water bottles were used to warm the sheets and take the "staleness" out of sheets that have not been used in a while.

Oscar (1991)

Other mistake: After Nora leaves with the wrong bag, Snaps calls the Underwood home to ask someone to come over and switch them back. Later, Nora herself returns and Aldo makes the switch for her. Then the Underwood chauffeur comes to trade the bags, and Aldo does this for him. But Aldo would've known that Nora had already retrieved the correct bag, so why would he change them back?

Chanteuse66

Other mistake: There's a scene where James films his and Veronica's amorous activities for use as Shelmikedmu mating ritual videos. While she is dancing, we see him slip behind a curtain to turn on the camera. Later on, we see the footage being played on a store's display TV's. Much of the footage shown is of her dancing BEFORE he turned on the hidden camera. And because of the angle of the shot, you can see that it wasn't taken by a different camera.
