I'm searching for a movie title, from the late 70s to early 80s, possibly horror. I think it takes place at a big hotel or mansion. I remember a scene where a person takes a swim in an indoor pool, and when he/she comes to the surface for breath the pool is covered by glass or some force field. The trapped swimmer beats and screams but can't escape. I think the person drowns but I'm not sure. I also remember a scene near the end where a gun is pointed at someone, but a force field or some kind of mind magic plugs the barrel of the gun. I think the gun bursts in the bad guy's face. That's all I remember. Please help.

Answer: It's called The Legacy from 1978.

Anybody know of an HBO made movie, from I'm guessing the mid 80s, where a few guys go into a jungle in search for treasure? The treasure chest ends up being at the bottom of a huge bowl shaped satellite dish or something similar. I don't remember anything else other than I enjoyed it as a kid. It's not 'Band of the Hand' but probably came out around that time.

Answer: It's called "Florida Straits," from 1986.

I'm looking for the title of an older movie (I think it's in color) that I have never seen; it was recommended on some great movies show I had seen years ago. It's about an aging upper class woman who falls in love with her gardener. I think she ends up rejecting him by the end, possibly because of his lower class status, and the ending is possibly a haunting scene where the woman gets a TV set for companionship. We know that she will wither away her years in front of the TV, instead of spending her remaining years with her true love. Since I've never seen the movie I may be way off in my vague description of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer: The movie you're referencing is "All That Heaven Allows" a 1955 movie starring Jane Wyman and Rock Hudson.

I once saw a movie and it was an African-American loosely based version of Cinderella (not starring Brandy and Whitney Houston). If I am not mistaken, the guy that play the reverend on "Amen" is in it. And I can't remember much else about it. I hope that someone out there can help me out.

Answer: I believe you are remembering "Cindy" circa 1978. It is a TV movie and you can find info about it on imdb.com.

I saw an episode and I don't know of what. But I do know that Jessica Simpson played a babysitter to a little girl. And the little girl had a big collection of barbie dolls. We come to find out the little girl was so unhappy that she wanted all of her former babysitters to stay and when they tried to leave. She turned them into the dolls. Does anyone know what I was watching and what the name of the episode was?

Answer: It's an episode of the latest incarnation of "The Twilight Zone," aired on UPN in April, 2003. The episode title was "The Collection."

I saw a movie at school in the 1980's in which the main character is a bank robber. There is a cop or Fed on his trail for years. This man finally turns his life around and settles down in a small town. But, the cop shows up on the same day a child gets trapped in an airtight bank vault, that will be unopenable for days. If he saves her the cop will know who he is, but he cracks it open and saves the girl anyway. It's NOT "No Deposit, No Return". In the movie I'm looking for: there was no kidnapping in the movie, the movie took place over years, it was a drama not a comedy. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

Lori Kaminsky

Chosen answer: I think that movie is called The Safecracker, and the robber's name in the movie was Jimmy Valentine.

I saw a movie, possibly in the 50's, where a group of men think they have crash landed on a planet and have to survive. They struggle through this desert like area and finally at the end of the movie, they cross one more hill and on the other side see telephone wires. They had never left earth. I cannot recall the name of the movie.

Answer: That's an episode of the original "Twilight Zone," first aired in January 1960. It's called "I Shot an Arrow Into the Air."

Chosen answer: That sounds like "No Deposit, No Return" with Don Knotts and Darren McGavin. McGavin plays a former safe cracker who has been off the grid for a few years. He and Knotts get caught up in a fake kidnapping (actually devised by the "kidnapped" girl). The kids end up trapped in their Grandfather's safe and McGavin has to get them out in front of the policeman that has been on his tail for years.I personally love the movie.

This movie is quite old, I saw it about 25+ years ago in 3rd grade. It was about a young boy who lost his hair, because he got spooked after peeping in an abandoned building. Two homeless ghosts (I think they were ghosts) gave him a recipe to mix up and put on his head to make the hair grow, but the hair would not stop growing, it grew by the second. Then the boy was kidnapped by an artist who wanted his hair to make paintbrushes. That is how they found the boy at the end, because his sister saw some of the brushes in a store and knew it was made from her brother's hair. Can anyone help me out?

Answer: It is called The Peanut Butter Solution. Check out http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089789/.

JCT05

There was a movie out a while ago that is similar to Death Race, but it featured Ice T., and it was about all the criminals that got locked in a building and they had to kill each other to be the last one out the building. I remember one scene well. They had just gotten there and all these guns fell from the ceiling onto a table and that was the beginning of the movie. Does anyone know this movie?

Answer: The movie is called 'Mean Guns', released in 1997.

Super Grover

This was a movie that I saw on TV (not sure if it was made-for-TV) sometime in the mid-'90's to early 2000's. A record label found a woman who had a great voice, but was not attractive, so they made a music video with a younger girl (I think she had dark hair), and put the other woman's voice in the video. I think the other woman was cleaning a house when she suddenly saw the video on TV, with the younger woman singing the song she recorded. Does anyone know the title?

Answer: I believe this is the made-for-TV movie "Out of Sync," starring Gail O'Grady and Kari Wuhrer, and aired in 2000.

I'm looking for an episode of a show, maybe "Tales from the Crypt" or "The Hitchhiker" but I'm not sure. It's about a teenage girl who ends up at the house of a kindly elderly couple. They offer her lodging and I remember at the end of the episode she's in the hot tub and they drug her so she drowns and it ends up that she's really being cooked in the hot tub like soup. Can anyone tell me what show this was?

Answer: It's from Tales from the Darkside. The episode is titled Anniversary Dinner. Starring Alice Ghostly (Bewitched, Designing Women) as the woman who cooks the girl, for her husband.

Does anyone know the name of the Abbott & Costello movie that had the "Who's on First?" routine? Thanks.

Answer: Per Wikipedia: "The routine was featured in the team's 1940 film debut, "One Night in the Tropics". The duo reprised the bit in their 1945 film "The Naughty Nineties", and it is that version which is considered their finest recorded rendition. They also performed the routine numerous times on radio and television (notably in the Abbott and Costello Show episode "The Actor's Home")."

It seems that whenever they try to make a TV show from a movie the show never lasts. I can think of two shows that were successful (M*A*S*H and Buffy The Vampire Slayer). Does anyone know if there are any other shows that have lasted more than one year? Thanks.

Answer: There were/are many successful TV shows, both live-action and animated, that were/are adapted from or inspired by films. To start with, two spin-offs of TV's M*A*S*H and Buffy the Vampire Slayer are Trapper John and Angel. A few others that that come to mind are: The Odd Couple, In the Heat of the Night, Highlander, Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis, and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which just started its second season. Super Grover

What is the title of the fairly recent movie which portrays one black and one white man as brothers?

Answer: It's the 1996 movie, "A Family Thing," starring Robert Duvall and James Earl Jones. After discovering they are half-brothers, two middle-aged men, one white, one black, struggle to bond with one another.

There was a cable TV show, during the mid-1980's on Sunday evenings (I think), that was about a woman veterinarian who flew a helicopter. It was set on a island. For the life of me I can't remember the name of that show. Can you possibly help me? Thank you.

Answer: It sounds like the Canadian series Danger Bay.

Jeff Swanson

I am looking for either an episode or a movie- possibly of the show "Jem" that was on in the 1980's. I saw this in the 1980's. In it the main girl who had a secret identity was worried because her boyfriend liked both her and her alter ego. She got advice from someone who told her to become a third identity to test him. She did, and he fell for her too. She was upset until her friend then said that this actually meant that he really loved her because he must love her soul, because he loved her in any form. I remember that she wasn't wearing a disguise but transformed in some way between herself, her second identity and then her third identity. Does anyone know what this is?

Lori Kaminsky

Chosen answer: This is from the TV show Jem and the Holograms. She transformed with the use of a holographic computer named Sinergy. Sinergy is also the one who suggested to Jem to create the third identity.

I am trying to find the name of a late 80's or early 90's movie. The film features a newlywed couple who are honeymooning in a castle. The castle has a few ghosts inhabiting it, and the husband falls in love with one of the ghosts. Somehow the ghost becomes human again at the end, and then she and the husband end up together. Does anyone know the name of this movie?

Answer: The movie is called High Spirits. It starred Steve Guttenberg and Daryl Hannah.

SAZOO1975

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie. I think it was released mid-late 90's. It's about a guy who meets a girl on a train/subway, then tries to find her again. All this talk about "my sassy girl" reminded me of it and I can't get it out of my head. Thanks for any help you can give.

Answer: Could it be "On the Line" starring Lance Bass and Emannuelle Chriqui?

Dedderbot

In the beginning of this movie Jack Lemmon auditions for a job as a sax/flute player in a jazz combo. He does well, and then they flip a rigged coin to see who goes for coffee. When he returns all his instruments have been stolen. He's now destitute with no way to make a living. He then meets a woman, but I don't remember the rest. I have Googled Jack Lemmon movies but don't see anything that seems right for this one.

Answer: I'm not exactly sure, but it could be The Rat Race. Starring Tony Curtis and Debbie Reynolds. They are a saxophonist and dancer trying to make it in the big city.
