Revealing mistake: When Elias goes out by himself, there's a closeup shot of him reloading his rifle. He pulls an empty magazine out and puts in a new one. If you look closely, the magazine he loads into his rifle is empty.

Continuity mistake: In the very beginning when the transport plane carrying Taylor and the other replacements arrive, the propellers on the plane are not moving and it appears it's being towed. An army truck drives in front of the plane, momentarily blocking the view of the plane, and the propellers are spinning as soon as the truck passes.

Revealing mistake: As Barnes is crawling away before he is killed, wires are coming from his right leg.

Other mistake: Right at the end of the movie when a wounded Charlie Sheen is getting on the medevac helicopter, he is the only one not wearing a casualty triage tag.

Continuity mistake: After the last battle, a character stabs himself in his right leg in order to get a medical discharge. When they show him on the helicopter leaving, his left leg is bandaged, and his right leg has no bandage.

Continuity mistake: When the Platoon arrive at the church, Elias wears a black headband. While he is running in the jungle gunning down a couple of Vietcong he is wearing a camouflage headband, when Barnes is about to betray him, he mysteriously then is wearing a headband that says "air born" after that in his famous death scene, he wears a green headband.

Chris Taylor: I think now, looking back, we did not fight the enemy; we fought ourselves. The enemy was in us. The war is over for me now, but it will always be there, the rest of my days. As I'm sure Elias will be, fighting with Barnes for what Rhah called "possession of my soul." There are times since, I've felt like a child, born of those two fathers.
