A Good Day to Die Hard

Audio problem: In the scene in the banquet hall, where the bad-guy is eating a carrot, he throws it on the floor. Subsequently, while chewing on the little bits he has left in his mouth, there comes a sound which is not a chewing-small-pieces-of-carrot sound, but a biting-a-piece-off-a-carrot sound. That sound was way too loud to have been produced by some little piece he had left in his mouth. (00:47:45)

Audio problem: When John pulls the iron rod out of Jack's abs, he throws it on the floor. It is the size of a large bolt, but the sound it makes is the sound of a large iron pipe. [Fixed on Blu-ray]. (00:59:05)

Factual error: The nuclear power plant at Chernobyl is located 4 km from the town of Pripyat, which is located in a forested area, and the plant is not visible from the town - in this movie it's clearly in visual range.

Revealing mistake: When the armored truck flies through the air and smashes into a concrete pipe that is being hauled by a yellow truck, there is a shot from in front of the yellow truck. You can see there is no driver. (00:28:55)

Continuity mistake: When John is in the taxi in Moscow, there is one shot of the taxi with a sticker in a bottom corner which disappears.

Other mistake: When John and Jack are in the ball room, the chopper circles back and begins shooting through the building at them. It is shooting into the far right window straight forward. John and Jack get up and take off running. As they do, you can see the bullets' line of fire moving with them through the building as the chopper tries to hit them. But it cuts to an outside view and the chopper has not moved or turned yet from that spot, nor are the guns turning. It is visibly still shooting forward at the same spot. The line of fire follows Jack and John some more, but the outside view shows the chopper just then start moving to begin following their movement. (00:52:40)

Continuity mistake: When Jack and Yuri escape from the courthouse, both have their hands cuffed. After getting in the blue van for the first time, they still have the cuffs on each hand, but they are no longer chained together. (00:19:00)

Visible crew/equipment: When the truck spins the small blue car into the crash barrier, the camera turns to look back at the car. When it does, the camera operator and the bike it's on is in shot. (00:23:10)

Factual error: In the ballroom scene, John, and friend hide behind a bar while the bad guys are shooting at them. The bullets would gone right through the bar's bottom cabinet as it's made of wood, which does not offer protection against bullets.

Continuity mistake: When the masseur starts to strangle Viktor, he drops his phone. When the camera angle changes, the phone is 10 feet away from them.

Continuity mistake: When John and Jack steal a car to go to Chernobyl, the trunk had guns in it, but no black vests, which is what they find the second time they open the trunk, at Chernobyl.

Continuity mistake: When being shot at by the helicopter in the hotel room, the scaffolding that John and Jack make a run for is not visible from the outside shots (to the left of the building).

Continuity mistake: During the opening chase we have a long shot of the blue van turning left onto the main road next to the river - the next shot is the armoured truck doing the same, but in close up the road layout is completely different, and yet they are right behind the blue van.

Continuity mistake: When Jack McClane gets his dad from the burning room at the end, he enters wearing a flak jacket and leaves without it, without enough time to take it off, they then leap into the pool.

Continuity mistake: In the car chase near the start, the blue and white cars hit bumper to door. When the tank type car hits them they are end to end. (00:22:00)

Ssiscool

Continuity mistake: When arriving in Chernobyl from Moscow it seems to be the same night, although it is over 800km, plus their car is bright and shiny when they arrive despite driving through the rain.

Continuity mistake: Just after John asks Jack if he is "gonna cry a little" before he pulls the bolt out of him, Jack leans his head back. The next shot, Jack's head is down. Throughout this scene, his head keeps changing position between shots. Also noticable right after John says "You shot?" (00:58:25)

Quantom X

[Guy yells at John in Russian and John punches him.]
John McClane: Do you think I understand a word you're saying!?!

Trivia: The only film in the "Die Hard" franchise to specifically be written as an original "Die Hard" script not inspired by outside source materials. "Die Hard" was based on a novel titled "Nothing Lasts Forever." "Die Hard 2" was loosely adapted from another novel entitled "58 minutes." "Die Hard with a Vengeance" was a re-worked version of an earlier script entitled "Simon Says." "Live Free or Die Hard/Die Hard 4.0" was a combination of ideas inspired by a Wired Magazine article ("A Farewell to Arms") and elements from another script entitled "WW3.com." Ironically, despite being the only film in the franchise to be specifically conceived of as a "Die Hard" film, it was the lowest-rated film in the franchise by critics and audience polls.

Question: Who is the guy suposed to be that Jack kills in the beginning at the night club? (00:04:50)

Quantom X

Answer: His name was Anton. He was an associate of Viktor Chagarin. Jack, although lying, said Yuri Komarov sends his regards. Chagarin and Komarov were former partners and Chagarin was the one who got Komarov put in jail. By Jack saying Komarov sent him, it made it seem like Komarov was out for revenge on Chagarin (by attacking his associates). The courts offered to reduce Jack's sentence for testifying against Komarov, which allowed Jack to get close to him and help him escape.

Bishop73

Answer: Just a nobody. Jack had to kill someone so that he would be arrested and that was his way of getting to the old guy (I forget his name). Additionally the guy in the nightclub was probably an enemy of the other Russian guy and it was a way of getting rid of him.
