Continuity mistake: In the opening sequence, while Valentine and her goons shoot the people on the boat, only the exit hole of the bullets is visible, but no entry hole on the white shirts. (00:03:00)
Revealing mistake: At the start during the rewinding segment we see a net return to an Umbrella soldier's gun, and a guy get up on the screen left with a bullet wound in the back. (This whole part is in reverse at this point of the film) The guy that gets up you can see the outline of the squib pack that was used for the effect. (00:03:18)
Continuity mistake: When Jill Valentine jumps out of the Umbrella chopper, her outfit and guns differ from what she was wearing and carrying in the post-credits scene of Resident Evil: Afterlife. (00:05:55)
Continuity mistake: When housewife Alice is trying to escape with her daughter in the laundry room, she slams a mop through the ceiling. When she slams the mophead through the ceiling the last time and pulls it out, the hole left behind is maybe one foot across. When she lifts her daughter up into the hole it is now a good two or three feet across and reaches from ceiling support beam to support beam. (00:09:20)
Continuity mistake: When housewife Alice is hiding in the closet, the Majini has his tentacles in the slats of the door. When Alice bursts out he is much further away. (00:14:00)
Continuity mistake: In Resident Evil, Alice's scar is on her left shoulder. In this film it's on her right. (00:15:50)
Other mistake: When Jill orders a sweep of the corridor with the laser grid, the lasers almost catch Alice, and the camera changes and the grid is much further back giving her time to escape into Tokyo. (00:18:00)
Continuity mistake: When the Tokyo sequence is started, Gill's hair is untucked from her ear. When the rain starts however her hair is tucked behind her ear. (00:19:00)
Continuity mistake: When Alice is being chased in the corridor of the Tokyo simulation, the woman in the blue dress is a good distance away from her. However in the following shots she is much closer. (00:21:15)
Continuity mistake: During the fight in the corridor of light, Alice shots everybody and there are a lot of blood splattering, but the corridor continues to be clean until the very end, and the stains of blood that are there are not compatible with the splatters. (00:21:50)
Continuity mistake: Alice ejects the magazine during the corridor sequence and it drops pretty much straight down to the floor. When the camera changes to her kicking the magazine away, its falling down and out. (00:22:15)
Revealing mistake: Alice throws a new magazine for her gun up, and it stays in the air for a good ten seconds (adjusted for slow-mo). For something to stay up in the air, you would need to throw it a good hundred feet, and the hallway simply isn't that high. (00:22:40)
Deliberate mistake: Empty magazines aren't that heavy, but when Alice kicks it into the face of one of the zombies, it looks like he's being hit with a baseball bat. (00:22:45)
Continuity mistake: In the corridor fight scene, the camera shows Alice shoot a zombie in the head, and very shows a bullet entry and exit point. In the next show however, the wound has disappeared. (00:23:15)
Revealing mistake: When Ada Wong kills three officers in the Umbrella Central Control Room, you can see she shot them from the front. They are sitting behind glass panels. Later, we can see the blood splatter sitting on their side of the glass, indicating that they were shot from behind. The glass is also intact, despite a bullet supposedly passing through it. Revealing mistake: When we see the Axeman slice the roof off the police car, the lights on top spark and break before the axe reaches them. (00:36:20)
Other mistake: Alice and Ada blow up the NY Taxi in a huge fireball but don't get effected by the fireball despite being only 3-4 foot away from it. (00:36:40)
Continuity mistake: In the 3D map scene both of the teams are heading to the central suburbia section to rendezvous; however when it shows their movements on the map both teams are walking away from this area, back the way they just came from. (00:37:15)
Factual error: Alice and Ada blow up a taxi by shooting the gas-tank. Shooting the gas tank of a car won't blow it up - as was tested by Mythbusters. (00:38:15)
Continuity mistake: One of the zombies fires an RPG into a yellow van. The van then moves forward and bumps into another car in front of it. When Alice jumps through the van, they have moved apart again. (00:50:45)
Answer: She must have had trouble in keeping control of the elevator's power as the impact of the explosion blew out some of the windows and the sea came rushing in.
