Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Factual error: In the first scene inside the New Mexico VLA Radiofrequency Observatory, dated as 1961, the camera pans over to what looks like a high-definition radar display screen. High definition resolution did not exist in the 60s. (00:02:18)

Factual error: The ticker message received at "National Security Command" at the Pentagon at the beginning of Transformers: Dark of the Moon incorrectly lists a date of 7-10-62. John Kennedy is then shown giving his famous "Moon Speech" before Congress, setting a goal of sending a man to the moon and returning him safely to the earth. The only problem is that Kennedy made this speech on May 25, 1961. (00:02:45)

Continuity mistake: In the NASA radio room, There are two men standing beside a cabinet. One a white shirt and tie, the other in a full suit. When the shot cuts, they have instantly switched sides, and the one who doesn't wear a jacket, suddenly is wearing glasses. (00:05:20)

Visible crew/equipment: In the shot of Optimus driving along with the Driller, part of a camera mount can be seen in the reflection of Optimus' chrome grille. It's definitely not something next to the road, since it's moving at the same speed. (00:18:25)

Continuity mistake: When Sam and Jerry Wang are in the elevator, just after the other co-workers leave, Jerry takes a drink from his milk carton, placing the straw in his mouth, from the top of the straw, down to the hinge section. The shot cuts and there is suddenly less of the straw in his mouth. (00:40:00)

Casual Person

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Wang is pushed out the window by Laserbeak, when he lands you hear a car siren. In the shot prior of him falling, there are no cars on the ground below him. (00:43:40)

JoBro

Continuity mistake: When the newscaster is introducing Simmons via his book, at first, he holds the book at the bottom, but in the shot directly afterwards, he holds it by the side. (00:54:15)

Continuity mistake: In the first scene with Carly coming up the stairs she is wearing a white cap, when the camera changes to the front view and she is holding the stuffed rabbit the cap is gone. (01:01:30)

Aidan2011

Revealing mistake: In the scene in the Russian bar, Dutch takes the bartender's gun. When he turns to hit her, the face of the stuntman replacing Alan Tudyk is visible. (01:03:40)

Whisper292

Revealing mistake: When Bumblebee skids out of control after dodging the truck with the barrels in it, you can see skidmarks of a previous attempt. Same place, same direction. (01:08:15)

Friso94

Continuity mistake: After Ironhide crashes into the remaining Dreads, we see that Crowbar lands on a bus stop, but when Sideswipe arrives, he is in front of an open garage door, at least 10 ft. away from the bus stop, debris is nowhere to be seen. (01:09:00)

Friso94

Continuity mistake: When the guy in the back seat gets out of Epps' car, he is wearing a baseball cap and a Motley Crüe t-shirt. In the next shot, he is wearing full tactical gear - instantly. (01:37:15)

Friso94

Continuity mistake: After Optimus saves the day by shooting the Decepticon hovercraft, we get a small speech. When he says: ''For today, in the name of freedom'', his gun disappears. We never hear him throw it away, or see it lying around when Bumblebee transforms. (01:39:50)

Other mistake: When Sam and the others are in the building, and then sliding down the side of it, the angle at which the building is compared to the ground seems to change many times. The angle, rather than simply increasing gradually, goes from very large (when we first see the Decepticons firing at its base) to very small (when we focus back on the team inside the building and the chairs are only just starting to roll across the room, indication that the building is barely slanted) and then back and forth between large and small depending on the angle of the shot when they are sliding down the side (and this is not just an impression due to the angle of the camera). When they then break through a window and come back into the building, the angle of the slant is again too small. (01:53:45 - 01:56:30)

Ingothold

Continuity mistake: When they all slide down the building, we get a shot that pans up. In this shot, Sam is the one closest to the bottom of the building and Carly is one of the people on the very top. Yet in the next shot, Sam catches up with Carly. (01:55:45)

Friso94

Continuity mistake: When Sam is getting swung around by the decepticon, Lennox helps him and cuts the line. They fall past the height of the building (out of shot) then you seen Bumblebee coming to help them, and they're back above the building with the decepticon but in that time they would've hit the ground before Bumblebee could grab them. (01:58:00)

Revealing mistake: When Optimus has his 'rage' on Wacker Drive, you can see that cars that are being flipped not entirely by volition, since some of them (most notably the red BMW before he cuts a Decepticon clean in half) aren't even touched by Optimus or any Decepticons. (02:15:15)

Suggested correction: Actually if you look real closely, then you will see a shot, which resembles that of Bumblebee's.

Continuity mistake: *Spoilers* After Optimus rips Megatron's head and spine out, he drops it right next to Megatron's dead body. But when Sam and Carly are reunited, the head with the axe lodged in it are much further away from Megatron. (02:23:00 - 02:24:35)

Friso94

Other mistake: So let me get this straight: Optimus Prime has Energon Swords hidden in both of his arms, with which he can slice through an entire Decepticon in one chop, yet when he is hanging from a few wires, despite having one arm entirely free, he can't cut himself loose?

Friso94

Megatron: All I want is to be back in charge. Besides, who would you be without me, Prime?
Optimus Prime: Time to find out.

Question: Of all the Transformers who die in this film, how many of them have died before in the Transformers canon? I'm looking for specific examples and how many times they've died.

Brad

Chosen answer: I can tell you that every single one of them died in the old animated series, eventually. They had to make room for new characters to sell toys of.
