Vegas Vacation (1997) - 41 mistakes
Directed by Stephen Kessler, starring Beverly D'Angelo, Chevy Chase, Ethan Embry, Randy Quaid (add more)
Genres: Comedy
Continuity: In the first breakfast scene the ketchup bottle located between Clark and Rusty moves and at times vanishes between shots.
Continuity: When Rusty Griswold first gets his fake ID, he walks in to the Riviera Casino and goes up to the bar. When he tries to order a drink, the bartender asks for ID, right when he is doing this, he lays down a napkin, and then the scene switches and he lays the same napkin down in the same place again.
Continuity: Towards the end of the film Rusty's gold medallion and other jewelry disappear when he enters the wedding chapel.
Continuity: While the Griswolds are playing keno at the end of the movie, there are a few mistakes with the game. When the keno lady is calling out the numbers, she calls out 14 as the 3rd number and 33 as the 5th number. When they show the keno balls up close it says the 3rd number is 48 and 52 as the 5th. Also in one scene it shows 30 already on the board, but a few shots later 30 hasn't come up yet.
Factual error: The club where Vicky works is advertised as being located on the strip but is actually on Paradise Rd. across from Hard Rock.
Continuity: Towards the end of the movie when Clark Crashes into Wayne Newton's house you can see the hood of the tour van is not damaged. A few scenes later when they pull up to the casino the hood has a lot more damage to it.
Continuity: When Eddie and Clark are at the buffet, the cook has the two pots of chicken and beef, but the signs are in the wrong place. So he picks up the chicken and places it in the spot where it is supposed to go. He is about to put down the beef sign where it's supposed to go, and you see him pick up the chicken sign AGAIN and place it in the right spot, as well as the other sign.
Visible crew/equipment: At the beginning of the movie when Clark is entering his house and the camera angle is from inside, just as he opens the door there is something red on his front porch. If you look at any of the previous scenes, that red thing isn't there. It's the bottom of a sunscreen being used to block the bright sunlight (which would have flooded the camera) behind Clark as he enters the house.
Other: Most evident in the massage scene, Jilly's gold ID bracelet on his left wrist is inscribed with the name "Jerry". Jilly is played by Jerry Weintraub.
Deliberate "mistake": After checking-in at the Mirage, Clark is sitting by his hotel room window admiring the northward view of the strip. Based on the view he must actually be sitting at the nearby Treasure Island hotel.
Continuity: Clark gives the blackjack dealer $200 and asks for chips. Even though the dealer never give him any chips,in the next shot we see he has chips in front of him and he's already placed one in the bet area. In the next shot the dealer asks him to place his bet and we see that the amount of $5 and $25 chips in his stack far exceeds $200.
Audio problem: When the whole family is at the Siegfried and Roy show Clark is asked to participate and they make him disappear and he doesn?t come back. At one point Rusty says "I wonder where Dad went" and Ellen responds with "I don't have a clue". If you read Ellen?s lips she is actually saying "I don?t know" and waves her hands.
Continuity: When Rusty takes his fake ID photo, he places his right hand directly over some numbers on the bottom of the "license." In the next shot, his hand has moved over significantly.
Continuity: When the guy takes the picture of Rusty, he's smiling a lot, but when you see it later in the movie, you see that he looks sort of confused in it, not smiling.
Continuity: When Clark is checking in at the hotel, he puts down his credit card twice.
Continuity: When Clark and Eddie go to the casino to get all Clark's money back, they walk up to the table and there is already a folded twenty dollar bill there. Then it shows Clark puting twenty down the same way.
Continuity: Right when the guy dies at the end he's leaning straight up against the chair, but the next shot of him, he is leaning to the left.
Continuity: When Russ takes his fake ID picture on the street, and he sticks his head in the giant license and there is no backdrop behind his head...you see Vegas light behind him.. but when the casino guy checks the fake ID, it is all white behind his head... no Vegas lights.
Continuity: When the mom is with Wayne Newton, after she was covered with pasta, she has a noodle in her hair. Later we see it dangling in front of her face to look more messy.
Continuity: When Clark is getting breakfast and he is reading Card Counting, at first, you see him holding the book by the sides, then you see he is holding it by the bottom middle, then the sides again.
Visible crew/equipment: In the beginning of the movie after Clark trips over the bicycle in his driveway and approaches his house you can see the microphone in the upper middle of the screen momentarily.
Continuity: At Hoover Dam, Clark pulls out a small rock and causes a little leak. While he's fixing, it another develops. He puts his left side against the second leak to hold it until he gets the gum in the hole. The water stain on his shirt changes from his left side to his right side, then eventually his entire shirt, in different shots.
Visible crew/equipment: The camera and the cameraman are reflected in the chrome of the Griswold limousine when they are driving down the strip.
Continuity: In the Hoover Dam scene, the tour group is walking through an underground tunnel when Clark messes with the wall and more water than normal starts coming out. He gets gum from Audrey and starts plugging the holes. He puts gum on the first hole and when the gum makes a bubble filling with water, he puts another chewed piece on the bubble. In the next shot, there is no piece on the bubble and he puts a chewed piece on another hole in the wall.
Continuity: When Clark first meets Marty at the Blackjack table, he is dealt a hand. If you look closely at the cards, they change suit and number from when they are dealt to when the hand is over.
Continuity: When they are at the Wayne Newton concert, and Wayne starts walking towards Ellen, when you see a back shot of Clark and Ellen, you see Clark looking towards Ellen, but in the next front shot of them, he is looking straight.
Continuity: When the guy says "take the ticket at the end" and then drops it, the ticket changes in all of the shots that you see it.
Continuity: When Clark hands Ellen the brochure about Vegas at the beginning, she holds it so the family is facing her, but in the next wider shot of her it's not.
Continuity: In addition to the submission regarding the tour van acquiring damage to the hood after crashing through Wayne Newton's house, the mirror on the drivers side is bent. In the next shot when Clark exit's the vehicle and closes the door, the mirror is gone.
Continuity: At the beginning of the movie when Clark and his family sit down at the kitchen table to talk about their Vegas Vacation, watch the fruit basket in the middle of the table. It's there when they go to sit down and it's gone in the next scene. Every time it shows the kids it's there and every time it shows Clark and Ellen it's gone.
Continuity: In the scene after Clark cashes a check to go to the card table Eddie orders a blue drink in a large glass. In the next shot when they walk away from the table Eddie's drink magically turns green. Then in the scene where they meet Wayne Newton, Eddie's drink is blue again.

Continuity: When Clark gives Rusty and Audrey 20 bucks each, between shots of him giving Audrey her 20 bucks, her hands moves down.
Visible crew/equipment: Right at the start, when Clark is stepping up to the front door, you can see a microphone appear down from the top of the screen. Playing this scene in real time is the best way of seeing it, but watch closely because it's only in view for about a second.
Continuity: At the beginning of the movie after Clark trips on the bike, you can see Clark put the Vegas brochure in his jacket pocket. When he goes to open the front door you can see no brochure in his left hand. In the next scene when he enters the house the brochure is back in his left hand along with his briefcase.
Continuity: At the beginning of the movie when Clark is driving home, he skids into his driveway where it is visible that the Ford Expedition is crooked and about three feet from the bike. Continuity: Eddie (Quaid) takes Clark (Chase) to the casino buffet for dinner. As they fill their dish with food, Clark tells the server behind the buffet table that the chicken and beef dishes are labelled incorrectly. The server then switches the tags, placing them in each dish. In the next scene he repeats the switch.
Continuity: When the Griswolds get into their hotel they meet their parents at the intersecting door Audrey is pictured by the door frame but the camera cuts off and she is sitting on the bed.
Continuity: In Rusty's last craps scene, the croupier pushes the dice to him but Rusty picks up several chips instead - not the dice. Rusty immediately rolls the dice without having picked them up.
Continuity: When the family is on the airplane on their way to Las Vegas, Mrs. Griswold has her purse strap over her shoulder. In the next shot there is no strap. Later on when she is going to stand up, she takes the purse which is lying next to her and not over her shoulder.
