Factual error: Her name is wrong. In Russia if your father's last name is Chenkov but you are female, then your last name would be Chenkova.

Continuity mistake: When Salt is arrested by the police, she is covered in a white powder. But, later, there is hardly any white powder to be seen.

Continuity mistake: When Salt and Winter are fighting with each other in the bunker, she stabs a sharp object like a pen in his right upper chest, which stains his shirt red. When medical aid is being given to him, his shirt is clean at the spot and no wound can be seen. (01:27:36 - 01:28:50)

Revealing mistake: In the White House after they have captured Salt and are walking her chained to be transferred, they meet Ted up the stairs and she chokes him with the chains. Liev Schreiber is replaced by a double with a different hair cut. Ted's hair is short while the double's is long.

Continuity mistake: When Salt is in the helicopter after leaving the White House, only the lock on the chain from the hands to the legs is unlocked, and yet when she runs out of the water, she has absolutely no arm or leg chains on her. (01:57:00)

Other mistake: When Salt is arrested and in the back seat of a police car, somehow she takes control and causes a lot of smashed up cars, and hits about ten large yellow bins. The problem is: Those bins are there because they have water in them, to lessen the impact of crashes, but there was no water to be seen.

Orlov: The name of the agent is Evelyn Salt.
Evelyn Salt: My name is Evelyn Salt.
Orlov: Then you are a Russian spy.

Trivia: The movie was originally scripted with a male lead and Tom Cruise was approached to play the title character. Ultimately, he backed out and the script was rewritten with a female lead and Angelina Jolie took the role.

Question: Salt has been with the agency for a long time and has earned the trust of her colleagues, so when she is accused of being a spy, why would her superiors take the word of a defector over her?

Answer: They have to at least investigate that kind of an accusation, and when Salt so vigorously resists arrest it basically confirms, in their minds, that she is in fact a spy.

I actually kind of find it shocking that they would be willing to believe a guy who would do or say anything to save himself and since Salt was with the agency a long time, they could have at least given her the benefit of the doubt.
