Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997) - 24 mistakes
Directed by Clint Eastwood, starring John Cusack, Jude Law, Kevin Spacey (add more)
Continuity: Before The Lady Chablis leaves the debutante cotillion she talks to John. She is holding her glass in her left or right hand, depending on the camera angle.
Continuity: In the funeral scene, John Cusack's tie is at his collar. When he meets Irma P. Hall at the cemetery gate, his tie is pulled down.
Continuity: In the last courtroom scene, while Sonny is making his speech, there is a close-up of Minerva holding a red cloth to her face. When the camera cuts to a wide shot of the audience the red cloth isn't there.
Continuity: When Spacey and Cusack are driving to the cemetery (at night) the front of the car is clearly visible, but the head lights are off. As they pull into the cemetery you see a side shot of the car and the headlights are on.
Other: When Kevin Spacey is lying on the carpet after having been killed by Jude Law's ghost, there is a very strange shadow visible to the left of the picture which looks as though it is someone standing there with their hands on their sides. There is nothing in the room to suggest that this is a shadow of a bust or a reflection of anything.
Visible crew/equipment: When The Lady Chablis teases a couple in the audience you see the shadow of the boom mike in the woman's face.
Continuity: When Cusack was sitting outside the room at that women's only card playing meeting, the glass he's holding is continuously going from full, to empty, to full, to half empty to full.....
Continuity: In court before the Detective testifies, there is a big open space right in front of both the Stand, and the Jury Box. When Sonny shows the detective the crime scene photos in the very next scene, there is a huge wood table in that space. In fact, Sonny even sits on it when talking about Shelton the Cat.
Continuity: When John interviews Jim in prison his tape recorder suddenly appears on the table when the camera angle changes.
Continuity: When Mandy comes to John's place at night to get some ice for her party, the amount of ice in the bucket shrinks to about half when she leaves the apartment.
Continuity: When Sonny asks John to sign a confidentiality agreement look at the papers and especially the pen on the desk. They change positions alternatingly depending on the camera angle.
Continuity: When John enters Sonny's office for the first time he takes his sunglasses off twice in successive shots.
Continuity: When John picks up Mandy at the flower shop at night you see the same couple walking by the shop twice in successive shots.
Continuity: When Jim calls Sotheby's from the jail a prisoner walks up to him, hunting for cigarettes. The camera cuts to Jim, then back to the prisoner who is walking up to Jim again.
Continuity: When John has a flat battery Joe Odom agrees to take him in his coach. John leaves the car door open when he gets out, but when we see them driving off from inside the car the door is closed.
Continuity: When John and Sonny visit Jim in prison, Jim is having a large bowl of soup. He puts down the spoon and it falls in to the soup. Then in the next shot the spoon is back in his hands without Jim having fished for it.
Continuity: When John comes to Billy Hanson's murder scene a police photographer takes a picture of him while he is standing in the middle of the room. When the picture is used later as evidence in the court trial it shows John standing in the door.
Continuity: After the first court hearing John is walking with Sonny and his associates. Sonny's briefcase is switching to and fro between his hands from shot to shot.
Continuity: When Mandy and John talk in the children's playground sitting on swings, Mandy either has both feet up in the air or is pushing herself off the ground with one foot, depending on the camera angle.
