Mistake Plot hole: How did the men on the ship get killed? The bridge was intact and the T-Rex was still inside the cargo hold. [A raptor escapes from the boat when it pulls in to the harbour, but they cut the scene from the film and now that bit doesn't appear to make any sense.]

Mistake Other: When they're on the island and the INGen helicopters are flying in, Jeff Goldblum takes the binoculars and looks through the wrong end.

Mistake Factual error: When the vehicle is hanging off the cliff and the glass at the rear slowly begins to crack, it does so like sheet ice (or conventional window glass). Safety glass in vehicles would either be laminated (in which case it wouldn't shatter at all), or it would break into a million fragments...

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Sarah and Nick return to the trailer with the baby T-rex, there is a shot of Nick carrying the rex towards the operating table. Look between the baby rex's legs - there are a series of wires leading from a opening in the anamatronic dinosaurs belly to a bulky device (presumably a battery pack) in the actor's pocket. Once you know where to look for the wires, you will notice them in many other shots in the film when various actors are holding the baby rex.

Mistake Plot hole: Near the end of the movie, Peter Ludlow (the snivelling nephew of John Hammond who wants to create Jurassic Park in San Diego) is addressing company stockholders as they wait for the cargo ship to arrive. He says something to the effect of: "I'd like to thank you all for being intrepid enough to show up in the wee small hours of the morning." Those last six words, and the color of the sky make it seem like it is four or five in the morning at the latest. For that early, San Diego is a busy town. The busses are running, business men are out, video rental stores are open (and with plenty of customers), and generally a lot of people are out to run away from the T-Rex. I have to imagine that the mass of people running in terror (even though it is early in the morning) were put in as an homage to old monster movies. Same thing could be said for the Japanese business men.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When the T-Rex is running rampant in the streets, we see a guy running away from it. He tries to run into a video store, and the shot is from inside the video store. Right before that guy gets eaten by the Rex, he runs to the door to try to open it. And when this happens, you can see the reflection of the cameraman in the glass on the door walking towards it.

Mistake Audio problem: The ship is going at full speed towards the coast - making a roaring engine sound. But when it hits the coast and stops, the sound of the engines stop too. Who turned them off?

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Sarah is helping the baby T-rex in the trailer and Ian is trying to dial up their ship on the radio, look at the papers Ian is holding. In one shot the back page is white, but in the very next shot, it has a red cover on the back.

Mistake Character mistake: Sarah is a trained expert with predatory animals. Yet when her jacket is covered with blood (and not just any blood, the blood of the infant t-rex), and they're in a forest surrounded with carnivorous dinosaurs, and she knows that they need to pass through velociraptor territory, and she thinks that the t-rex might follow them, she doesn't think to take the jacket off. And the others, who also happen to be hunters who would surely know that the blood would attract predators, don't say anything about it.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Sarah is hanging from the roof surrounded by 'raptors, the position of the roof tiles she's holding on to change between shots.

Mistake Continuity: The night when the T-Rexes attack it is pouring and there is mud all over, but the next morning the grass is dry and not even in the forest is there any mud or rain puddles.

Mistake Continuity: The day after the T-Rex attack, when they are all walking towards the control complex, Sarah is asked about the blood on her shirt, and answers that it's from last night, but it's too humid for the blood to dry. Nevertheless all their clothes - which ought to have been soaked during the rain storm, are completely dry.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": After Peter falls down the slope, the next few camera shots are 1st person views of the small dinosaurs which are about to attack him. The 1st shot ends a short distance from his face, at the speed which the camera zoomed in, during the 2nd shot the 1st dinosaur should have reached him. Likewise, during the 3rd shot, both the 1st and 2nd dinosaurs should have reached him, but they have not. They only reach him during the overhead camera shot.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Ian is talking to John in the bedroom you can see a mirror. After John tells him about the project, the camera moves to the bed and there is a reflection of blue jeans, probably the cameraman's.

Mistake Continuity: When the second INGEN team is rolling through the open field and you first see Rolland talking to Peter about not setting up camp on the game trail, if you look carefully in the shot looking at Peter they are actually on a paved road instead of open field. Split second mistake.

Mistake Continuity: Near the end of the film, when Drs. Malcom and Harding are looking for the baby T. Rex in San Diego they arrive at the new InGen Jurassic Park. The car brakes hard, skids a little pulling a trailing cable for a portable light. the lamp falls. When they get back into the car with the baby T. Rex, to use it to entice the mother back to the ship, the lamp is standing again.

Mistake Continuity: When they're in the shack, and the raptors are making the walls shake, something like an animal's muzzle falls off the wall and lands in front of the door. We then see a closeup of the raptors starting to dig under the door, and there's no sign of the muzzle. We then cut back to a wider shot of the door, and the muzzle's back there again.

Mistake Revealing: When the stegosaurus begin to move around a lot, you can see the one that is charging at her steps in the creek water, but there is no splash or any ripples.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the scene in the shed towards the end, when Sarah and Kelly are at the top, you can see the harnesses that are keeping them safe.

Mistake Continuity: In Hammond's bedroom, Ian distinctly asks, "And who are these four lunatics that you're trying to con into this?", before Hammond states the specific number in the team. This is backed up by the subtitles.

Mistake Continuity: When the English family arrives at the island, the sky is a bit gray. When the little girl wanders off, it is suddenly a sunny, beautiful day.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In the scene in the shed towards the end, when Kelly does her gymnastics, you can see that it is a stunt double.

Mistake Continuity: When the T-Rexes are far away their steps make the ground shudder so it can be seen in the water puddles. However when they are nearby the same does not occur.

Mistake Continuity: As the team are making their way through the long grass and are attacked by the Raptors we see a black man holding a torch turn around and look up into the air and scream. The camera changes and then the Raptor jumps in the air and on to him. He looked up into the air before there was anything in the air to look at.

Mistake Factual error: When Roland is walking in the pouring rain and talking about killing the T-Rex, he has his gun slung over his shoulder vertically and barrel-upwards. If you were to do this in real-life in a tropical rainstorm for very long, you would run the risk of water entering the barrel and causing problems with the gun. And as a professional hunter Roland would know better.

Mistake Continuity: At the San-Diego docks, the guy says it's the 'wee small hours of the morning', yet when he goes inside the Harbour Master's control room, the clock on the wall says 9:25.

Mistake Revealing: The window in the door of the trailer that got pushed over the cliff is quite obviously made of a plastic film. You can see that it is wobbling when they bang the door.

Mistake Revealing: When the T-rex escapes into San Diego, it enters a rural area and enters someone's backyard to drink from their pool. When the Rex plunges its face into the water, the water barely ripples and its bottom jaw is as clear as day below the surface of the water. If a beast of that size were to dip its head in the water, no matter how gently, it would've created a ripple that would distort the surface of the water quite significantly.

Mistake Continuity: When Jeff Goldblum is trapped in the car with the raptor outside, the raptor bumps into the window, cracking it. There's no hole in the centre of the crack in the shot of the raptor, but when we see a shot of Jeff Goldblum a second later, there's suddenly a hole in the window.

Mistake Revealing: In the beginning of the movie, when the rescue group arrived on Isla Sorna, the actress grabs the Nikon F5 of the photographer and makes her way to the nest of the Stegosaurus. After several shots of the small Stegosaurus there is no more film left in the cassette, so the camera begins to rewind it automatically. The thing is, you never see the rewind knob moving although you hear the camera's motor rewinding (The Nikon F5 has a manual rewind knob to be able to rewind the film when the batteries are dead). There was obviously no film at all in the camera.

Mistake Continuity: When Rowland and the other man spot the baby T-rex, it is eating its meal. Then it looks up at them. Then it cuts to another shot where Rowland and the other man are talking. If you look in the background you can see the baby with his head down eating again. Then it cuts back to where the baby is. It is looking up at them again.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When the two T-rex's surround Eddie's car one bites the roof off if you look to the right side of the roof once in the T-rex's mouth you will see a large wire obviously so the model and the roof don't fall over.

Mistake Factual error: When the trailer type thing is hanging over a muddy cliff, about to fall off, a guy drives up in a sporty little jeep, ties the trailer to it, and manages to pull the trailer back to safety. Well, at first glance this may seem okay, but that trailer was at least twice the weight of the jeep. And, if the jeep spun its wheels on the mud like that, it would lose any traction it had on the ground, thus going over the edge of the cliff with the trailer.

Mistake Factual error: When the first half of the trailer is hanging over the cliff, the second half is pulled towards the edge. But the pull from the first half would be going downwards - in a 90-degree angle to the position of the first half. That would not pull the second half outwards, but more lift the end up - or most likely - not pull it anywhere.

Mistake Factual error: When Hammond is talking with Malcom about going to Sight B he says that the departure is from San Diego which is "a couple of hours" away from there. A flight from San Diego to Costa Rica would take over 5 1/2 hours. Then there is the trip to the island.

Mistake Factual error: After Ian and his girlfriend get the baby T-rex from holding in San Diego, they track down the big T-rex. They pull into a gas station and the Trex knocks the large 76 ball towards them. The problem with this is that that gas station/intersection is not in San Diego, CA but in Granada Hills, CA. The cross streets are Rinaldi and Balboa.

Mistake Continuity: At the very beginning, when you see the English family on the beach, the little girl wanders off and you then see a shot of her on her own. However, she must have walked a pretty long way because the beach she is on is definitely not the beach that her parents were on; the rocks in the ocean are gone and the waves are smaller.

Mistake Continuity: When Ian starts to walk out of Dr. Hammond's office, we see an empty hallway. A shot or two later, there is a butler standing to the left of a lamp in the middle of the hallway. Then another shot or two later, the butler is standing to the left of the hallway where we can't see him.

Mistake Continuity: When Sarah, Malcom and his daughter argue in the trailer for the first time you can see out of the back window. It shows they are right in front of a thicket of trees a few feet behind the trailer. When they step outside a minute later to see the InGen choppers arrive you see that the trailer is pulled up on the cliff tops already. The only view you should have seen out of that window was open sky as the window points out to sea.

Mistake Continuity: When Jeff Goldblum is giving his daughter the news about him going away for a few days, he gives her a piece of paper with someone's number on it.  However, in the next shot Jeff has the paper back in his hand.

Mistake Continuity: When Sarah gets those cuts on her head, they seem to dissappear or get smaller in number as the movie progresses.

Mistake Continuity: Towards the beginning where the girl goes to photograph the Stegosaurus, the scene cuts back to her boyfriend and the guy with the video camera.  In two cuts to their scene while the girl is photographing and interacting with Stegosaurus, the guy with the video camera opens the flip out LCD on the video camera and starts shooting the action.

Mistake Continuity: After Malcolm and his team are rescued at the edge of the cliff by the Hunter and his team, the "movable feast" begin their journey to the abandoned site. As the music plays and the trek commences you might notice that the footage shot in Hawaii has the Hunter's hat off. This is intercut with the footage shot in California with the Hunter's hat on. It can get distracting.
