Entry The boardwalk scenes were filmed on location at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California.
Entry Mary Lambert was originally set to direct, but was fired due to creative differences between her and producer Richard Donner.
Entry The plot of the movie was intended to involve middle-school aged kids as the vampires, just as the lost boys in Peter Pan. The director loved the title, but hated the idea of this, so he changed it.
Entry After twenty years of attempting to make a sequel, the direct-to-video film Lost Boys: The Tribe was released in 2008. Coincidentally, the film features Kiefer Sutherland's half-brother, Angus, as the head vampire.
Entry Kiefer Sutherland was originally only intended to wear his black biker gloves during scenes in which he rode on his motorbike. However, while messing around off-camera, he fell off one of the bikes and broke his arm. He then had to wear the gloves to cover his cast.
