Max Payne

Factual error: In the film, Sgt. Jack Lupino is depicted as a United States Marine Corp Sargent. However, when Max is watching an interview with Lupino it shows him wearing either a Gunnery Sargent or Master Sargent chevrons. Not only that, but the chevrons happen to be upside down. No US Marine would ever make a mistake like that.

Other mistake: In the final gunshot sequence on the rooftop, Max Payne raises the gun up to reveal a slo-mo sequence. The handgun is coated in ice/snow. How long was he holding the gun in the air in the snowy weather?

Visible crew/equipment: When Max meets a man in a car who invites him to jump in, they go to the place where Natasha was killed. When the car drives in the alley and we see it from the top of the building (the camera angle), the camera filming them is visible in the reflection on the car's roof (it's mounted on a rod hanging high above the alley). Continuity mistake: When Max is being beaten by Natasha's sister, she gives him a good whack to the right side of his face, leaving him bloody. But in the scenes to follow there is no mark or blood on his face.

Factual error: As the vehicle drives on a street of 'downtown New York', on the right side of the scene as we pass store fronts, one can see the familiar symbol of the American Automobile Association - except it has CAA - Canadian AA. Canadian viewers, especially those from Toronto who recognise the city where this movie was shot, will no doubt smile at this oversight. It's early in the movie - before all the action really starts, I believe before Donal Logue's character is killed.

Continuity mistake: When Max and his old partner are having an argument in the rain outside the friend's car, the car's windshield wipers are at first at an angle. When Max walks angrily away, the wipers are now lower and horizontal. (00:20:30)

Continuity mistake: When Max first sees Michelle's body, some of her hair is hanging off the edge of the bed. A couple of shots later, all of her hair is on the bed.

Other mistake: When Max Payne is in front of the "NYPD" station, and then gets in a car with his partner, they drive down the street for a split second and you see a TTC (Toronto Transit Commission - Ontario Canada) wheel transit bus, and Canada Post Mail delivery truck in the background to the driver side of car. The TTC bus is red, white black and the mail truck is red, white and blue. (00:17:15)

Continuity mistake: In the final scene on the rooftop helipad, Mark Wahlberg raises his semi-auto handgun and shoots Beau Bridges once, straight through the heart. Bridges is dead before he hits the ground: His knees buckle and he falls face-down, with both arms hanging limp at his sides. The camera cuts to a close-up of Bridges face-down on the helipad, but now his left arm is raised with his hand directly in front of his face. That would only be possible if he fell with his left arm raised after he was shot.

Max Payne: There's an army of bodies under this river, people who ran out of time, out of friends. I could feel the dead down there, reaching up to welcome me as one of their own. It was an easy mistake to make.

Trivia: At one point during the movie, Max visits a storage yard. The name of this yard is "Gognitti Storage". This is a reference to Vinnie Gognitti, who was an important character in the video game series.

Question: Was this the first PG-13 film to use the F word? If not, what movie was the first?

Answer: Hardly. The word "fuck" has been allowed, subject to certain conditions, in PG-13-rated films ever since the rating was introduced in July 1984. Prior to that (and even occasionally afterwards), it was not unheard of for a film rated as low as PG to get away with using the word, with the first use in a PG-rated film being in All The President's Men in 1976.
