Trivia

Before the film went into production, and when the film makers still thought Sean Connery would come back, the initial idea was to ask Ursula Andress to also come back as Honey Ryder (from the first Bond film, Dr No). When Roger Moore was instead cast the idea still stood until a few weeks/months later when it was scrapped, after they decided not to "saddle down" Roger Moore with leftovers from previous films. Mistake Factual error: In the scene where Kananga's henchman Adam is being interrogated by Sheriff Pepper by his car at the riverside, the boat chase arrives and two boats jump clearly over head disillusioning Sheriff Pepper and allowing Adam to make a quick getaway. However, as Adam is getting away in his car, screeches can be heard coming from the tyres, but they are on a dry dirt road.

Mistake Continuity: When the guy with the snake is shot Baron Samedi re-appears and you can distinctly see the bloke holding the snake again.

Mistake Continuity: In the boat chase, when Bond comes to the shipyard, the goon can't find him. But there would be obvious foam/wake marks and waves after Bond's boat for several minutes.

Mistake Deliberate "mistake": In the scene where Bond and Kananga are fighting underwater, Bond shoves the bullet in Kananga's mouth. Then Kananga rises up and explodes. He explodes like a balloon, with not much blood at all.

Mistake Continuity: Watch the way the bloke at the beginning is holding the snake. Every time the camera shows him from behind he has one hand by its head, yet each time the angle changes to the front his hand is halfway down the snake's body.

Mistake Audio problem: Before Bond and Solitaire gets into Kanaga's den in the end of the movie, we see two guards running. However there are only footsteps from one person.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond and Quarrel goes to shore there are clear shadows and sun reflections, showing it was actually shot at daytime.

Mistake Revealing: At the end of the film, when James Bond pushes Tee Hee outside the train, you can see his real arm during one quick shot.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When 007 takes the taxi outside the Oh Voodoo Cult Shop, you can see the reflection of the crew on the window of the car.

Mistake Continuity: When TeeHee is destroying Bond's gun with his mechanical arm, you can see that the gun already has a crease on it even before it is bent.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond is on the small isle in the crocodile pond, one of the crocodiles begins to climb the rock. Cut to Bond and then back at the crocodile who has now turned into an alligator. In the next shot it is once again a crocodile.

Mistake Other: When the camera does a close up shot of Bond in the sky in the Microlight, the fabric is far too loose for it to actually be in the sky. The fabric would be taught as the air flows over it.

Mistake Revealing: When Tee Hee bends the barrel of Bond's Walther PPK, in the close-up, the score marks where the barrel has been pre-cut are visible.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: In New York City, when the taxicab goes up the steps and crashes into the trash cans, the ramp that the car travels on is visible.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Bond and Solitaire are tied to the orange thing you can see a wire on the bullet which makes it fly across the room.

Mistake Factual error: The henchman with the prosthetic arm bends Bond's gun. It would require something in the range of 1000 pounds of pressure to bend a gun like that. It would be impossible for anyone to generate that much pressure since the arm is driven only by human muscle.

Mistake Continuity: After Bond has finished ripping the wings off the Cessna and parks up, he speaks to the old female pilot, and in doing so, the camera shows that the wings behind her head are still intact, when they were already ripped off at this point.

Mistake Other: When Tee Hee strikes Bond to supposedly knock him out, he makes contact with Bond's right shoulder blade. He doesn't strike anywhere near the neck/head region, which is where you would hit if you were trying to knock someone unconscious.

Mistake Factual error: Clifton James' character is "Sheriff J. W. Pepper of the Louisiana State Police". A sheriff is not part of any state police organization - a sheriff is an elected COUNTY official. (Interestingly, in Louisiana, they are not called counties, they are called "parishes").

Mistake Plot hole: Bond steals the ancient double decker bus, not noted for any kind of speed, and he also doesn't get much of a head start against the police, yet in later shots he's quite a distance ahead of them. Skilled driver or not, it's a bus.

Mistake Continuity: When predicting Bond's arrival the card with the ship moves between shots in relation to the orange card with the man.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene in the alley behind Filet of Soul, where Bond is saved by Strutter, the position of the right arm of the unconscious/dead goon in the light leather coat moves between shots.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond is playing with Solitaire's cards at her house, the position of the cards changes between shots.

Mistake Other: When Bond gets his Rolex he explains that by pulling out this button it turns it into a hyper intensified magnet, but he actually turns the bezel to activate it.

Mistake Plot hole: James Bond shouldn't have gotten away at the end of the airport scene where he steals an airplane and pretends to be a flying instructor. He had no wings with which to fly away and he ended back up right outside the airport, so the henchmen, who seemed to still be chasing him one shot before he parked, should have been right on him waiting when he got out of the plane.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond and Kanaga falls into the shark pool, they fall apart from each other. However, when we see them from under water, they are holding onto each other.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: Four patrol cars are chasing Bond and the villain by the road. Bond and the villain arrive at a dead end and they jump over the road with their boats. The four vehicles collide just after. Look carefully and you will see that the right-seat passenger of the red car and the driver of the blue one wear a yellow protective helmet.

Mistake Continuity: After Bond is picked up by the taxi at the airport in New York, Whisper in the "white pimpmobile", as Felix Leiter puts it, shoots the taxi driver in the head. The car then swerves from the second-left lane on the road to the very left lane. But in the next shot of Bond's head you can see through the rear window that there is a car on the left side of the taxi, indicating that the car is still in the second-left lane. In the next shot the taxi is back in the very left lane.

Mistake Continuity: During the chase scene when several men in boats are chasing Bond in a boat, one of the bad guys steals a black speedboat from the Sheriff's brother-in-law. The bottom of the black speedboat collects white scuff marks as the chase continues, but the scuffs increase and decrease erratically, indicating that the sequences were not shot in the order we see in the film.

Mistake Other: When Bond is sky-surfing on the back of the other agent's boat, you can a shadow above the skysurfer. Why would there be a shadow in the sky?

Mistake Continuity: When approaching Solitaire, the voodoo priest's grip on the snake changes between shots.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond is tied up with Solitaire and turns on his watch - only the gas bullet comes flying. But that could not be the only loose metal object in the room. Kananga's blade for example. And even if he held on to it he would feel the magnet pulling it.

Mistake Continuity: When Bond fans out the (fake) card deck to Solitaire, the card-fan changes between shots.

Mistake Revealing: As "Tee Hee" (the man with the claw) escorts Bond to the alligator pond at the farm, they at one point stand next to each other. You can see that Tee Hee's prosthetic arm is much longer than his real one- about as long as you might expect it to be, if the actor is really holding a prop with his actual (and perfectly good) hand.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: Just before James Bond throws Tee Hee out the train window, look carefully at the glass and you will see the reflection of a crew member watching the action.

Mistake Revealing: When Tee Hee and Bond are fighting in the train compartment, watch the right edge of the screen. In one of the shots the end of the set is visible as Bond shoves Tee Hee against the "wall", which wobbles. So much is revealed you can see the wooden framing.

Mistake Revealing: The snake held up to kill the agent and later Solitaire is obviously not a real snake but a fake one. Look at how stiff it looks.
