Continuity: At the beginning where Trevor is looking through Max's stuff, he sets the glove on the table. In the next shot the glove is back in the box.

Trivia
A subtle reference to this film's 3D format: In Max's box, Trevor finds a pocket stereoscope, which are funky looking glasses that create the illusion of a three-dimensional image from two-dimensional photographs. It was invented by Sir Charles Wheatstone in 1840. See more...
Journey to the Center of the Earth (2008) - 36 mistakes
starring Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutcherson, Seth Meyers (add more)
Genres: Action, Adventure, Family, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Thriller
Continuity: After Trevor saves Hannah from
underwater and they are all laying on
the rocks, Hannah's wet stringy hair
keeps on changing position and the wet
hair that is stuck to her right shoulder
keeps disappearing then reappearing
back on her shoulder during the scene.
Continuity: After Sean lands on the beach after being carried away on the kite, the position of the ropes that are attached to the sail, laying on the beach keep changing position. Also, Sean removes the ropes that are wrapped around his arms after he wakes up, but after he drinks some of the beach water, the ropes are wrapped back on his arms.
Continuity: Trevor is going over notes scribbled in Max's copy of the book on the airplane. As he talks to Sean about the notes and how he is trying to decipher the Sigurbjorn Asgeirsson notes, in the first few shots of these notes most of them are written in clear jet black ink, nice and new. But in the closeup as Sean runs his finger down the notes, the same writing is now differently written and the ink looks much more faded.
Continuity: When Trevor finds the copy of 'The Journey to the Center of the Earth' inside Max's box, although the title is spelt this way on the front cover of the book, as he looks through the pages, on the insides of the book you can clearly see the headers spelling the title as Centre instead of like Center on the front cover.
Continuity: As the T-Rex skull comes to a sliding stop at the bottom of the hill, Trevor, Sean and Hannah get splattered by berries. In the first shot there are a lot of berries on Trevor's shirt and face, then in the next shot there is hardly any and then there's a lot again in the third shot.
Continuity: After Trevor, Hannah and Sean are forced out of the mountain (inside the T-Rex skull) by the pressure of the geyser, as they fall back down to the ground, they begin to slide through shrubbery. Between shots as they slide through, the amount of greenery and leaves that is inside the skull keeps changing from hardly any, to a lot, etc.
Continuity: When Trevor, Hannah and Sean are being pushed up in the T-Rex skull by the geyser, they are laying in the skull and you can see that there is harness rope that comes out from behind Trevor and Hannah's back (that they are laying on). But in the shot when they are pushed out the mountain by the geyser and reach their highest point (before they start falling back down to the ground again) there is no rope visible behind them or in the skull at all. In the following shot as they fall back down to the ground, the rope has reappeared.
Continuity: After leaving the lagoon area and exploring the rest of the 'Center of the Earth', the size and appearance of the wet patches on everyone's clothes, especially on the front of Trevor's jumper, continue to change from smaller to larger to darker and lighter, etc.
Factual error: When Trevor, Sean and Hannah enter the cave full of emeralds, rubies and diamonds, you can clearly see that these precious stones are not in their rough, natural forms. Instead the diamonds are crystal clear and look shiny and polished. In reality they would be rough and have a murky yellow tint to them.
Continuity: When Trevor is sitting at the table
flipping through the copy of the 'Journey
to the Center of the Earth' book he found
in Max's box, his location in the book
keeps drastically changing from shot to
shot, from almost at the start of the
book, to the back and to the middle, and
so on.
Continuity: After Trevor and Sean clamber out of the
lagoon that they landed in, they begin to
remove their jackets because they are
soaking wet. However between sudden
shots, the beanie hat and headlight that
Sean was wearing on his head instantly
vanishes, with no time for him to have
removed it himself.
Continuity: Trevor falls a short distance to the floor after Hannah cuts his harness ropes with a knife. After he hits the floor and the ropes fall onto him, between shots the ropes laying all over his body and face keep moving, disappearing and appearing.
Visible crew/equipment: When Trevor is outside in the street
greeting Sean as he sits in the car, Sean
then gets out of the vehicle. As she gets
out and stands by the car talking to
Trevor, you can clearly see a large white
reflecting board reflected in the backseat
door, behind Sean.
Continuity: After the glowstick has been dropped
down the chasm; and the shots goes
back and forth from Trevor to Hannah as
they talk, you can see from shot to shot
that the torch in Sean's right hand keeps
disappearing and reappearing.
Continuity: As Trevor frantically cleans up his lounge
area, he starts picking up plates and foil
takeaway dishes, collects them all and
places them on a shelf. But in the next
shot all the plates/tins have suddenly
appeared on the central table in the
lounge.
Continuity: As Trevor is telling Sean to check his
watch in order to time how long it takes
for the glowstick to reach the bottom of
the chasm, Sean removes the torch from
under his neck and points it onto his
watch. Suddenly in the next shot the
torch is back under his neck.
Continuity: When Hannah is tending to Trevor and
Sean as guests in her house, she brings
three mugs over and places them on the
table. Between shots the three mugs
swap their places; you can easily see
this by comparing them in relation to the
book sitting next to them.
Continuity: When Trevor and Sean climb out of the
lagoon, they realise Hannah is still
underwater so Trevor dives back in to
rescue her. When he retrieves her from
the water and they all scramble back
onto the rocks, Trevor leans his head
back onto his backpack. In the next shot
his head is now resting on the rocky
shore below his backpack.
Continuity: After trying to tidy up the lounge area,
Trevor gives up and resorts to throwing
a large blanket over the central table,
which he grabs from the sofa. After he
picks up the blanket, between shots the
position of the items on the sofa changes
and also a cushion appears from
nowhere.
Continuity: In the scene where Sean wakes up on the beach, he is lying face down in the sand beside a fish, and he is wearing gloves. In the next shot they are gone and reappear again in the following shot.
Visible crew/equipment: When the mine cart crashes into the wall, you can see cables beneath the cart.
Visible crew/equipment: In the scene where they are walking through the giant mushrooms, in the background you can see somebody wearing a backpack run across.
Audio problem: During the scene when Trevor comes home and listens to the messages on his answering machine, there are 4 messages from Sean's Mom. As Trevor is running around trying to clean up, he's listening to the messages. Only 3 messages are played and when the phone rings it says there are 0 messages.
Continuity: When Trevor and Sean are getting in the mini cart you can see the cart tracks along the side of the mini cart, but in the next shot the tracks change sides.
Plot hole: When Sean is crossing the chasm by jumping on the 'magnetic rocks', he jumps onto the edge of several of the rocks. Assuming that the rocks could actually float in the magnetic field as shown, standing on the edge of one of them would cause it to immediately flip.
Continuity: When Sean first sees the 'magnetic rocks' forming a bridge across the chasm, there is a great distance between him and the other side, and about 20 floating rocks. When he starts to cross, the distance is now much shorter, and he only jumps on 6 or 7 rocks to get across.
Continuity: During the scene where Trevor is told that the funds for research have ended, he crosses his arms, then the angle changes and the arms are at rest and he crosses them again.
Continuity: When Trevor is fighting off the carnivorous plants that are attacking him and holding Hannah hostage, in one shot we see him punch into the mouth of one plant, causing his hand to become entirely covered in a sticky goo. In the following shots however, the same hand is now clean.
Continuity: When the Italian farmer starts to shout, Trevor raises his right arm to comfort Hannah. In the next shot it's down, and he doesn't raise it until much later.
Continuity: When the movie begins, Trevor enters the lab and his pal is holding the frozen object with his left hand. Half a second later he holds it with the opposite hand.
Plot hole: While the slopes on the mine tracks make for a thrilling downhill ride, the cars loaded with ore could never have made it back up the tracks.
Revealing: After Trevor has been lowered above the pit of magma, in an attempt to light the magnesium walls with a flare, we see shots of Sean hanging over the edge of the inside of the T-Rex skull. Sean's hands are resting on a large tooth in the skull, which clearly shakes like a fake prop each time he touches it.
Continuity: When Sean is jumping across the floating magnetic rocks, as he jumps on the one that begins to flip him around twice, as he is flipped round the first time, it causes his small black utility belt (with the pocketknife and phone pouch) to fall off his waist, down into the abyss. In the following scenes moments later though, the same pouch/belt can be seen on his waist.
Continuity: When Trevor gets home from work and
sits down in his lounge, between shots
the sheets hanging over the chair he is
sitting on change and items (such as a
stack of books, newspaper, etc)
suddenly appear on the radiator behind
him.
Continuity: In the scene where Sean is walking by the large dinosaur bones, he disappears for a second as if he has become invisible, but he reappears in the next shot.
