The Moto-Terminator bikes are built on the Ducati Hypermotard 1100.
While looking for Kyle Reese, John Connor's Tracker makes the same sound as the Colonial Marines' Motion Trackers in the film Aliens, a film directed by James Cameron, director of The Terminator.
Reese's introduction isn't the only thing that stays the same about the character between movies. Here he uses his preferred weapon - a sawed-off shotgun. Marcus isn't keen on having a gun aimed at him though, so he snatches it out of Reese's hands, then teaches him a trick to keep that from happening - fashioning a safety strap. Reese puts that same trick to use after he steals a police shotgun in The Terminator.
The cast and crew of this film suffered a fair share of mishaps. Christian Bale broke his hand, Sam Worthington injured his back and special effects technician Mike Menardis almost lost his leg filming an explosion.
When Marcus Wright, Kyle Reese, and Star leave Los Angeles, they make their way up the hill up to Griffith Park. This is an homage to Terminator 1 because this observatory location is the same location that Arnold Schwarzenegger arrives at from the future, finding Bill Paxton and some other thugs and stealing one of their clothes.
Arnold Schwarzenneger's face was digitally pasted onto Austrian bodybuilder Roland Kickinger to show the T-800. Roland Kickinger played Schwarzenneger in the made-for-TV biopic See Arnold Run.
John distracts the Terminators at one point by blasting some music from a boom box, attracting the attention of the robots. That music is the Guns 'n' Roses song, "You Could Be Mine," which was commissioned for Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and which John also plays with his friend in that movie as they ride on John's dirt bike.
The Plasma Cannons used by the Skyfish(HK), Harvester and MotoTerminators make the same sound as the Predator's shoulder cannon does from the first Predator movie.
