The Strangers (2008) - 9 mistakes

Continuity: When Kristen is in the room trying on the ring, you can see the open bottle of champagne on the table. When she goes to play the piano, you can see the bottle not on the table, but in a basket unopened.

Continuity: A few minutes after James accidentally shoots his friend, he reloads his shotgun and tells Kristen that he is going outside to look around, and tells her to stay put. He walks to the front door and as he passes the clock on the back wall, it reads 5:00 a.m. A few minutes later, Kristen walks past the same clock, and it reads 4:30 a.m.

Continuity: After Kristen twists her ankle outside the shed, the way she walks changes from hobbling on one foot to walking normally.

Continuity: When Kristen is discussing the ring with James at the table, there is an ice bucket with a bottle of champagne in it. During their conversation, the ice bucket moves closer to the candles and is empty. Seconds after showing the ice bucket empty near the candles, James gets out of his chair, grabs the champagne from the ice bucket in its original spot, and pops the cork.

Continuity: James takes off his tie to cover the cut on Kristen's hand, but when they run outside to escape in the car James is wearing his tie again, then after the failed escape they run back inside the house and James tie is missing. In another scene Kristen goes into the woods to look for James and falls into a ditch, then as she climbs out the tie is missing from her hand, but the next scene it's back in place.

Continuity: Throughout the movie, the bandage put on Kristen's hand by James appears and disappears in several different shots.

Continuity: At one point, the chimney flue becomes jammed and thick smoke starts billowing into the room. Kristen seems to fix the flue, but the smoke keeps coming for a bit. A second later, there is no evidence of smoke in the room, not even a haze.

Other: The ice cream in the film doesn't melt despite being in a room with a fire and several candles.

Continuity: In the scene where Liv Tyler is in the shed using the CB radio, she hides and drops the microphone. In the next scene, the mic is standing upright, then it is lying down, then it is standing upright again when she goes to use it.
