Corrected entry: When the boy, Jared, is shot in the head at point-blank range from a shuttered window, slow-advance reveals: The rifle muzzle moves near Jared's head for several frames; then a digitally-inserted muzzle flash appears behind Jared's head for one frame; followed by one completely blank white frame; followed by one frame of digitally-inserted gun smoke behind Jared's head. Jared's head does not move or react in any way to the gunshot, and his head is completely intact throughout this lightning-fast bit of digital editing. Of course, by the time we see the gun smoke, the bullet should have already passed completely through the boy's head, and we would certainly see his physical reaction and the mortal injury. The two frames containing the muzzle flash and the gun smoke appear to be identical still frames of Jared's profile, retouched in a simple photo-editor, and completely lacking any gore.

Correction: Per the rules of the site, anything requiring slow motion to see isn't a mistake.

Continuity mistake: When the Jeep stops in Priceton, we can see its on a single land road. However once it starts to accelerate in the next shot to ram the tree at the intersection, it is now a forked road.

Suggested correction: The road is a standard two way road that is unpainted with road markings. Almost all non major roadways are unpainted and many of them fork into two separate roads.

Corrected entry: During the scene when less than a half dozen of them are running through the field before they head towards the model home, the one girl (Mara Hobel) who was running in the field with them disappears when the wind harmlessly catches up with them.

Correction: After checking the scene at 48:25 you can see Mara Hobel in blue with a backpack and flailing her arms as she runs. She went with the Asian realtor and two others down the middle.

Other mistake: When the Jeep crashes and John gets out, he sits on the ground behind the vehicle and picks up a shard of glass that's supposed to be from the vehicle accident. Given that all the glass on the jeep shows to be intact, the glass couldn't have come from the Jeep as insinuated by the audio and placement of the shard.

Suggested correction: The windshield broke when the Jeep crashed into the tree and the driver was thrown through it. So the glass of the Jeep is not all intact. That being said, the shard John picked up was a long way away from where the windshield broke.

Question: In the scene where little Jess is playing at the swing, right after she walks away from it, aren't there blood stains (or something just as reddish) on the swing's wooden seat?

Answer: It appears so. M. Night often uses the color red in his movies as a visual clue that something emotional or violent is about to take place. If there was blood on the swing, it could be a forewarning to the audience that the house in question is more dangerous to the main characters than originally assessed.
