Continuity: In an aerial shot a helicopter pilot says, "I got a vehicle on the bridge…" but if you look closely there's no vehicle on the bridge until the next shot.

Continuity: In a face on close-up as he talks to General Corman, Captain Willard's scar starts directly under the middle of his right eye. Later at Clean's funeral the scar is shorter and further to the right no longer directly under his right eye.

Continuity: As Jerry takes a piece of roast beef from the tray we get a close-up of the captain's table setting. Just about everything has been moved from the previous shot but his bread dish and napkin are the most notable as they have both moved to the right of where they were before.

Audio problem: When the natives start shooting arrows at the boat, Chief is imploring his crew to "fire...fire...FIRE.". Then if you listen to the scenes at Do Lung Bridge, they have reused the sound of this battle as a background sound. Its just after Willard says he needs some information, and to pick him up on the other side of the bridge. It's very clear on the Apocalypse Now (2 CD version) soundtrack, track 1 at 3:06.

Continuity: As they approached Vin Din Dop over the beach we see the bridge on the left and no sampans with red sails are there. Fifteen seconds later when they come around the other side of the bridge there are three sampans with red sails unfurled.

Continuity: As they walk on the dock at Hau Phat the storage warehouse behind the motorcycles is very well lit up. In the previous shot as they were docking these areas were bathed in a dim blue light.

Continuity: At dinner, the Frenchmen sitting to the right of Captain Willard says, "Why don't you Americans learn from us, from our mistakes?" When he says this there's a shadow falling on his face but in the next shot his face is lit up again by the sun.

Continuity: As Colonel Kurtz reads his poetry out loud we see Dennis Hopper gesturing with both hands as he speaks with the captain. When the colonel gets mad and throws the bowl of bananas at them Dennis Hopper is holding his camera in his left hand. His bandana is also rolled up differently with the corner sticking up in one shot and down in the other.

Continuity: As Captain Willard tries to get Lance away from Colonel Kilgore the band-aid on his right cheek angles upward as it nears his eye. Later we see it up close as they pull him into the boat with the surfboard and it does not angle upward but goes straight across his face.

Continuity: As they all read their mail from home Lance ignites a canister of purple smoke and it's sunset. In the next shot of Clean grabbing his tape recorder it's the afternoon and the sun isn't even shining.

Deliberate "mistake": After Hubert exit's the French Plantation dinner scene the stage lighting on Roxanne and Captain Willard shuts down abruptly before their close-ups. There's no one there to touch a light switch and we can see outside and the natural lighting hasn't changed.

Other: Captain Willard reads to himself from Colonel Kurtz' paper titled, "Commitment and Counterinsurgency". We see a close-up of the page that he's reading from which is fine until he reads, "our conduct of the war will gain only impotence". Everything else he reads is not on the page.

Audio problem: As they approach the Do Lung Bridge Lance tells Chef that he dropped a tub of acid and Chef says, "far out " but if you look at his lips he's not saying anything at all.

Continuity: After we see Chief Phillips break up the fight between Clean, Lance and Chef they show a close-up of the Playboy Bunny's helicopter. It's pouring down but there's no water running off the helicopter or its windows.

Visible crew/equipment: After Clean is killed in the rocket attack there are several shots where the camera crew films the front of the PBR as it approaches them. The spray and turbulence from their boat in front of the PBR can be seen in all of these shots.

Continuity: As they approached the French plantation the partially crushed fuel drum on the back the PBR that we saw after Clean was shot, has been replaced with one that is only slightly dented.

Continuity: After the little French boy kisses Hubert de Marais he walks away and we watch from behind as Captain Willard's head turns to the right as he looks at him. In the next close-up of the Captain's face he does the exact same thing again.

Factual error: Before they arrive at the French plantation Captain Willard climbs to the top of the PBR as it sails underneath a downed fighter jet. This is not the tail configuration of any Vietnam era jet.

Continuity: As Captain Willard jumps off the boat at the French plantation we see a wide shot of the debris on the dock. The fuel drums to the right of the screen are rearranged two shots later as he walks up to the door.

Continuity: As they depart from the USO show at Hau Phat Chef shows everyone his picture of Miss December and there's a helmet hanging on a poll in the rear of the boat with the top facing Chief Phillips. Each time we see this helmet in the next few shots it moves sometimes facing the back of the boat and sometimes facing the front.
