The Last Boy Scout (1991) - 42 mistakes

Continuity: When Jimmy is arguing with his former colleague in the pool of the LA Stallions, in the first shot of him there are two pink balloons and a red one behind the big guy in the pool. In one particular shot there is only one pink balloon, the other balloons are on a string and are blowing in the wind, then after this shot, it goes back to being two pink balloons and a red one behind the big guy.

Continuity: Jimmy Dix hits Big Ray Walston in the forehead with a football, but later in the movie, Walston screams that his nose was broken.

Continuity: When Joe uncovers the affair in the bedroom, his wife's robe goes from open in front, to closed (note V of material under her neck) in closeups, to open again in the wide shots.

Continuity: Near the beginning of the film where we see Joe and his best friend Mike standing outside of Joe's house, if you look Joe is standing in front of the tree and his car is parked in line with the tree, yet when Mike walks away and Joe turns around, the car is now parked almost in front of the tree, and Joe is standing behind the tree.

Revealing: This is when Joe finds out his wife is cheating on him and shoots their wedding photo. If the bullet hit the photo, where is the bullet hole? It shows that something other than a gun was used to destroy the frame in this shot.

Continuity: Watch the Mustang blow up at the beginning of the movie. It looks to be about an 88 GT convert. When it is shown after the explosion it changes to an 86. Two completely different looking cars. Check out the headlamps.

Continuity: When Mike's white car gets blown up, it spins in the air and lands the opposite way around, but in a following shot the car has now moved back to facing the same way it did before it blew up.

Continuity: When Jimmy Dix is in the bar, and says " to Alex the astronaut" he is holding the glass with his left hand. In the following shot he drinks it with his right, then it switches back to his left.

Continuity: Near the beginning of the film in the bar scene, we see Joe and Jimmy Dix talking then, Jimmy throws a punch and Joe catches it, knocks Jimmy down and he walks off. If you slow this part down as Joe begins to sit down again, there is a glass on the table half full with scotch, then when Joe reaches for the glass it is turned over and spilt, as he says, "Spilt my warm cup of piss ".

Revealing: When Bruce Willis is outside the bar waiting for Halle Berry, and he gets hit over the head with a baton. If you slow the shot down, you can see that the baton bends when clashing with his head.

Continuity: When Cory is killed, Joe hears the sirens and puts his weapons up in the air. When the police cars come, Joe walks up to the car that parks directly behind Jimmy's Jaguar. In the shot behind Joe no policeman steps out when the cars drive up, yet, in the following shot a policeman is already standing beside the police car holding his weapon.

Continuity: Got to love how the bullets just glance off Damon's corvette in the shoot out scene when Halle is killed - the corvette appears to have a fiberglass body and should have been covered in bullet holes.

Continuity: At the police station, just after Cory was killed, the Chief of the precinct is looking at Joe and says "The same son of a b**ch saved the president's life." When the shot cuts to the other guy, then back to Joe and Jimmy outside the office, in the background the chief is now sitting back at his desk - some pretty quick moving between shots.

Continuity: After Halle Berry gets shot, Bruce and Damon are sitting in the Police station talking about Damon's leather pants. Bruce finishes his cigarette and reaches into his pocket for another, but then they change camera angles and show him already smoking a half gone cigarette.

Continuity: When Jimmy finds the tape in the fake spray can, it's a micro cassette. Later, when they try to play it in the car, it magically changes to a standard audio cassette.

Continuity: In the scene where they retrieve the evidence from Halle Berry's apartment, they come outside during broad daylight, but when they get in the car to listen to the tape it's pitch black outside.

Factual error: C4 needs a detonator or blasting cap to explode, and so wouldn't go off from being shot in the trunk of Joe's car. You can even set it on fire and it will just burn slowly.

Continuity: When Bruce Willis takes Damon Wayans to his house, Damon takes two glasses and a bottle of liquor and pours some of it into the glasses. A few shots later when Damon toasts to his dead son there is much more liquor in his glass even though he didn't refill it.

Continuity: Half way thru the film when they are discussing Wayan's drug abuse, his ear piercings change from his left ear to the right ear and then back to the left. Obviously a flipped shot.

Revealing: When the three bad guys throw Jimmy Dix off of the road onto the car below, if you slow it down, you can see, it is not the actor but a stunt double.
