starring Gerard Butler, Gina Gershon, Harry Connick Jr., Hilary Swank, James Marsters, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kathy Bates, Lisa Kudrow (add more)
Continuity: Near the start, when Gerry comes back into the apartment after the fight, his suspenders are off, but in the next shot as Holly jumps over the couch his suspenders are on, only to be off again once she’s in Gerry’s arms.
Continuity: After Holly and Gerry’s argument near the start, when Gerry begins his little dance in boxers, as he removes his leather jacket one of the back suspender clasps comes undone. When he lies down beside Holly, both back clasps are on properly.
Deliberate "mistake": After the broken suspender clasp smacks Gerry in the face, in the close-up it lands under the dresser, within the wide strip of light reflection. In all other shots the entire area beneath the dresser is in shadow.
Continuity: After Gerry gets smacked in the face by the 'broken' suspender clasp, we see the silver clasp land under the dresser. Yet, when he's moaning and lifting his leg to get onto the bed, we can actually see the clasp still intact on the front suspender that came loose, which is dangling right behind him (just look between his legs). Of course, in the next shot, that clasp is gone. Since the silver clasp is one of the plot points, this is bizarre to say the least.
Continuity: When Holly sings with Judy Garland, she has a “pimple” on her forehead. When Sharon gives Holly a manicure, the skin on Holly’s forehead is flawless in the close-up – not hidden under makeup.
Continuity: With Holly’s birthday cake came a tape recorder from Gerry, and in the wideshot Holly turns it on with her thumb, but in the close-up with her index finger.
Continuity: When Holly and Sharon are showing the apartment to the couple, in the first exterior shot from the street, as we hear Holly’s voiceover and see her in the center window, all of the window shades on the left are halfway down. In the next interior shot, the shades on the right and left side are up near the top.
Visible crew/equipment: When Holly and Sharon are showing the apartment to the couple, just as Sharon says, “I think if you offer another hundred grand, they’ll back right down,” the reflection of a moving boom mic is visible in the center window between Holly and Ted.
Continuity: When Holly talks to the leprechaun, his balloons keep changing position.
Continuity: At karaoke, in the flashback, when Gerry is on stage asking, “Who wants a shot?” he’s holding a drink in his right hand. Next shot, facing the audience, he’s pointing to individuals with his empty right hand, but next shot the glass is back in his hand.
Continuity: At the karaoke bar, before Holly sings the second time, when Ciara and Daniel walk in she puts her coat down under the table, but in the next shot she’s still wearing it.
Continuity: When the dry cleaning arrives and Holly lays it out on the table, right behind her is the large flip-over wall hanging, with a picture of balloons. When she pulls the leather jacket out of the plastic, the wall hanging is flipped open to a picture of a bird.
Continuity: At the Irish Famine Memorial, when Daniel says, “I think you’re a little bit perverted,” regarding the corned beef sandwiches, Holly’s handbag dangles from her left arm, but next shot it’s on her right arm.
Continuity: At Patricia’s bar, when she and her daughters eat dinner together, Ciara picks up the platter of meat and bowl of corn salad, next shot they’ve switched hands.
Continuity: While William is in the shower, Holly finishes the dishes and folds the towel neatly then places it on the bowl, but that towel messes and rights itself and the utensils move in the following shots.
Continuity: When William gets dressed after his shower, the necklace he wears keeps turning about – note the pendant and knot.
Continuity: When Holly visits Gerry’s parents, there’s a close-up of his letter to them. A moment later we can see the front of the letter, as his mum holds it, and the writing differs in relation to the Enniskerry Limo logo at the top.
Continuity: When Gerry and Holly first meet, she says, “I’ll never forget this,” and the leather jacket is completely unbuttoned. When Holly remembers that she’s wearing his jacket it’s suddenly half buttoned up, just as Brody, the 'wild Irish dog' runs towards them.
Continuity: After returning from Ireland, when Holly hears Denise’s phone message she throws the remote at her dresser and knocks over the frame face down. When she walks to the dresser the frame is now face up. Jewelry differs as well.
