John Hammond: I don't blame people for their mistakes, but I do ask that they pay for them.
Trivia
The helicopter landing pad had to be put in by helicopter because they were unable to get trucks in there. So a helicopter brought in the landing pad, they shot the scene of them landing, and then a helicopter took the pad away. See more...
Jurassic Park (1993) - 124 mistakes
These mistakes are currently being ordered by time. Entries without times will appear at the end.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Richard Attenborough, Sam Neill, Samuel L. Jackson, Wayne Knight (add more)
Revealing: During the external shot of Nedry getting attacked by the dilophosaurus, there is a clear reflection of stage lights near the jeep's front left wheel.
Factual error: The way the car "slides" down the tree as Grant and Tim are climbing down is very unrealistic. Rather than hugging the trunk like it does, the branches (some of which are thick enough) would deflect it away from the trunk.
Continuity: We see Dr. Grant helping Tim out of the car that has just fallen into the tree, then suddenly, they are about 5 feet under the car though the dialogue and split second cut suggest that they had merely just gotten out of the car and had not yet began their descent.
Continuity: Take note when the vehicle starts chasing Sam Neill and the kid down the tree. When it first starts to fall, it smashes a headlight and damages a foglight. In the next shot both lights are undamaged and operational.
Visible crew/equipment: When Alan and Tim climb down the tree to escape from the falling car, you can see cables along the bark of the tree below the car as it falls.
Continuity: When Jeff Goldblum is sitting in the back of the car by himself and notices that a T-Rex is coming towards him. The wide shot of him shows that the car he is in is near one of the cars for the tour. But when the T-Rex comes and they drive off, the car has been moved to an alternate route for the escape, and they are nowhere near the area they should be.
Deliberate "mistake": In the scene where the T-Rex is chasing the Explorer, there is a shot of the driver's side side view mirror which says, "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." This warning is only used on convex mirrors, which are only placed on the passenger side of cars.
Continuity: Ellie, Muldoon & Dr. Malcolm are accelerating away from the T-Rex after having found the other Explorer. Just after Muldoon shouts "Bloody move!" and is looking at the gear stick, the shot changes and he is suddenly looking over his shoulder.
Continuity: When Tim, Lex and Dr. Grant are hiding in a large tree, a large dinosaur appears. They pull some branches off the tree and feed the dinosaur. However, when they first climb the tree, there is no foliage in the area at all.
Revealing: When Grant and the children are up in the tree, as Tim is telling his jokes the camera pans out and we get a wider view. In this shot you can see that Grant's boots are spotlessly clean, which is highly unlikely given the muddy ground, wet environment and his activities over the past few hours.
Continuity: When the dinosaur comes up to Allen and the kids in the tree, we see various footage of the dinosaur's head, but in those shots there is a much larger amount of foliage around and on the tree than there was before.
Revealing: When Grant tells Lex and Tim about the breeding he then gestures to the dinosaurs' footprints. Some of the footprints are very square in shape and have obviously been stamped in the ground.
Continuity: When Sam Neill found the eggshells beside the root of the tree, they are on the dark soil. In the other shot, the same eggshells are on the clear sand.
Continuity: In the command center, when Arnold turns all the power off, the main system VDU powers down when the 'C-1' switch is thrown (then the main 'Power' switch is turned off). However, the main system VDU comes on again when the main switch is powered on.
Continuity: When Alan, Lexi and Tim are climbing the hill and you see them from behind, Tim is almost next to Alan. In the next shot, when you see them from the front, Tim is lagging behind the other two and has to catch up.
Continuity: In the scene where Grant and the two kids start running from the Gallimimus you see a shot of them running toward the camera with the dinosaurs running around and ahead of them. In the next shot they are running away from the camera and there are no dinosaurs in front of them. There were a lot of dinosaurs in front of them, where did they all go?
Revealing: When Ellie runs from the Raptor the stunt double who runs for her has on a wig that looks nothing like her real hair. It just looks very fake.
Continuity: Where Alan and the kids are about to climb the fence, when he throws a stick at the fence, his hair is messed up, it is sunny and windy. In the next scene his hair is combed, it is shady, and it is not windy.
Revealing: During the scene where Dr. Grant and the children are forced to climb a fence to flee from an unseen dino, there's a brief side view of the fence that clearly shows that it isn't continuous - it is probably only about 75 feet wide.
