The Simpsons Movie (2007) - 86 mistakes

Continuity: When Russ Cargill appears on the big screen to explain the dome to Springfield, Moe is standing next to Homer and Lisa. A few shots later, Moe is standing next to Lenny and Carl, with different people around him.

Continuity: When Marge runs back to the kitchen to retrieve the wedding video, the house is ablaze. In the next shot, when the mob is carrying the car away, there are no flames visible in the house.

Continuity: When Homer drives to the lake to dump the pig crap silo, there are hundreds of 'No Dumping' signs along the way, but on the way back, all the signs are gone, including the ones Homer missed.

Continuity: In front of Krusty Burger, when Lou carries a naked Bart to the sign post, the post is embedded directly in the concrete walkway slab, just beside the left corner of the patch of grass. Once Bart is cuffed, the sign post has actually moved down about 4 feet, and is also now embedded directly in the grass at the right corner. In following shots, it's at the left corner of the grass and then right again.

Continuity: When the mob is charging toward the Simpson's house, we see Nelson in his regular clothes. When he shoots the arrow at the Simpson's, he is wearing a Springfield T-shirt.

Continuity: There is no circular window on the church from the outside but on the inside there is.

Continuity: When Bart is proving he is sober, Homer is pumping petrol and eating a hotdog. The camera cuts and Homer is eating a hotdog but not pumping petrol like he was a second before.

Continuity: During the Green Day concert, the lyric displaying teleprompter sits onstage beside the mic stand, but then disappears, reappears and disappears again by the time the barge sinks.

Continuity: When Homer circles the dome on the bike, in the first two shots (close-up and wideshot) Homer's left hand is gripping Bart's left wrist, but in all of the following shots it is Homer's right hand that is gripping Bart's left wrist.

Continuity: The Simpsons leave the dome with nothing. However when Marge, Bart and Lisa are in the EPA van, Lisa has now got her sax.

Continuity: When circuling the dome on the bike, it leaves tyre marks. The camera cuts to Bart and the marks have gone.

Continuity: In the cinema, when Homer tells everyone how boring this is, behind Bart, Lisa, Maggie and Marge sits Otto, Kirk van Houten and Barny, but in the next scene behind them sits Otto, Jasper, Kirk van Houten and Moleman.

Continuity: In the scene where Lisa's boyfriend is trying to play "Lisa's song" from the other side of the glass, at first the guitar has an f-hole, and in the next shot of him, it's a solid body guitar.

Continuity: In the motel room, the poster of Alaska is not reflected in the mirror behind Marge. You can only see the little lamps next to the bed.

Continuity: In the motel room after escaping the dome, the circles of light made by the lamps on the walls and ceiling change between shots.

Continuity: When Marge is reconstructing Grampa's prophecy with magnets on the fridge, she moves the magnet saying" eyes" up a few inches to complete a sentence. When the shot changes to a wider angle, the magnet is back where it was before she moved it.

Continuity: When jumping the gorge, the position of Homer and Bart changes depending on the angle.

Continuity: Milhouse is seen when Lisa is looking for Colin and a few frames later he is in the middle of the town with no time to move there.

Continuity: When "Emperor" Moe appears in front of Marge, after she and the kids return, the two cartridge belts swung over Moe's shoulders switch from his left over the right, to his right over the left.

Continuity: The second time Russ Cargill spreads out the five options on the President's desk, the name bar with 'President Schwarzenegger' (yes, you read that right) on it vanishes and reappears on the desk twice.

Continuity: When Bart is having target practice on Homer, who is carrying bricks, the timer lying on the grass goes off. When Homer walks over to Bart to give him the dare, the timer is gone, though it should be visible.

Continuity: When Maggie does her disappearing act through the sinkhole, and Marge rushes to get Homer, the wooden porch swing is directly in front of the window, with its top beam as high as the top of the window. When Homer says, "This dome can play tricks on you," note the door and window behind Marge, because the swing is now gone.

Continuity: When Russ Cargill spreads the five unthinkable options on the President's desk, the book's spines are all facing to the left, but after the President chooses option three, in the close-up the spines are facing to the right.

Continuity: When Homer heads to the lake to dump the silo, the car's rearview mirror disappears and reappears.

Continuity: When Homer shows up in the car as Bart is cuffed to the sign post, by the time Homer gives Bart the clothing the car moves up and back, and then when Homer kneels in front of Bart the car's back end is not visible, though it should be.

Continuity: When a naked Bart is cuffed to the sign post, beyond the grass behind him is concrete walkway then the curb. Then when Homer steps out of the car, the grass goes right up to the curb's edge, but when Bart asks about pants, the walkway is back again between the grass and curb.

Continuity: When Homer kicks over the bomb, Comic Book Guy is seen seen behind him, with Carl, Cletus, and Krusty. In the next shot, Comic Book Guy is gone (appearing a few shots later at his comic book shop), and Barney is there instead.

Continuity: When Homer is forced into the house by Bart and Lisa's avalanche, it is broad daylight, but seconds later he is with Marge in the bedroom and it is dark outside. It is not snow surrounding the house, because the animals come in through the windows.

Continuity: At one point during Grandpa's outburst in church, Marge is shown standing up. In the next shot, she is suddenly sitting down.

Continuity: At the end when Homer is nailing the two tiles to the roof, they are yellow. The camera cuts and now they are red.

Continuity: At the end when everyone is congratulating Homer, Comic Book Guy is by Homer. Homer then rides down the street to Marge and Comic Book Guy is suddenly by Marge.

Audio problem: When Homer gets stuck in the sink hole, He says "Uh-Oh" but his mouth doesn't match what he says.

Continuity: When Homer cuts the ropes securing the Pig Crap Silo to the car, he marks the car. Next shot the marks have gone.

Continuity: When Bart and Homer are up on the roof, Homer puts the hammer on the roof next to his leg. In the next shot when he dares Bart to climb the antenna, it's gone.

Continuity: When Homer is running across the roof there is a section of tiles that he doesn't pull off. When he falls they have disappeared.

Continuity: The arrow that Nelson fires into Homer's head changes place between shots. It goes from on top to the side.

Continuity: When Homer is try to escape in the sinkhole, his eyes are below the sand line. The camera cuts to Moe then back, and now his eyes are visible again.

Continuity: The "Duff Beer" blimp disappears from the sky while "Green Day" are performing.

Continuity: When the angry mob is outside the Simpsons' home, Lisa sees Colin in the crowd. Carl is next to him, with his torch in his left hand. In the next shot, when Carl sets fire to a bouquet Colin brought for Lisa, Carl's torch is now in his right hand.

Continuity: In the scene where the newscast (Day 37) is being watched on the TV at Moe's, in the first shot of the TV there is a dart in the roof, but in the long shot the dart is no longer in the roof.

Continuity: When Grandpa is freaking out in church, he says, "twisted tail" while kneeling with his hands cupped, "a thousand eyes" leaning up against a pew, and "trapped forever" standing up and spinning. On Comic Book Guy's cell phone video he says all of these on the floor rolling around. He's also saying it faster on the cell phone video.

Continuity: When the dome is being lowered over Springfield, The amount of choppers carrying the dome changes depending on the shot.

Continuity: When Bart is talking to Ned about going fishing with Homer, he has a sling-shot that disappears throughout the scene.

Continuity: The one eye by the back leg of the squirrel keeps disappearing and reappearing depending on the shot.

Continuity: During Bart's flashback of him and Homer fishing, Homer drops the bug zapper into the lake. Dozens of fish come floating to the surface all over the lake. After the shot where Homer scoops up a fish and is zapped for it, there's a reverse-angle shot of Bart with no dead fish in the lake around him.

Continuity: When homer is riding the motorbike around the ball of death, the first try he has the bike does not have flames painted on but after the third try the flames have appeared on the bike again.

Continuity: When Cletus is distracting Russ Cargill and the town is escaping, they use a radio tower to climb up to the rope. When Homer falls down the rope, the radio tower is gone.

Continuity: At the start when the Simpsons go to sit down in church, they enter the aisle in the order of Marge and Maggie, Bart, Lisa and Homer. When they sit down (instant cut) they are now seated Lisa, Maggie, Bart, Marge and Homer.

Continuity: When Bart is chained to the post, a large piece of grass used to cover him appears from nowhere.

Continuity: The bottle of ink and quill on Mr. Burns' desk disappear for one shot. This happens when Apu, Cheif Wiggum and Dr Hibbert are asking for some electric.

Continuity: When Bart skateboards to Krusty Burger naked, he passes Agnes Skinner in the middle of town. On the left side of the screen is Mr. Largo, the school music teacher. A few shots later, when Bart approaches KB, Mr. Largo is seen walking down the sidewalk. There is no way he could have caught up and passed Bart in that time span. Not only that, but he and Bart are headed in completely different directions.

Continuity: When Nelson says "I'm using a red arrow so I know who I kill," the word "Springfield" appears on his sweatshirt. It wasn't in the previous shot.

Other: On the close-up shot of the "Doomsday Clock" with "Sponsored by TIMEX" underneath, the clock is counting up from 1:33 to 1:34, rather than down.

Continuity: In a scene Milhouse comes out of a house there is nothing in the yard, a long time passes, nearly ten minutes, Nelson comes over and there is a large rock in the yard.

Continuity: The clock on the bomb instantly jumps several seconds despite instant cuts. It goes 17, 16, *instant cut* 11, 10.

Continuity: In the shot where Bart is causing avalanches, there is no lake/river by the house. When Homer decides to go and save his family one has suddenly appeared.

Continuity: Barney runs head first into the dome and slides down horizonatly. Next shot he is stood up and is shoulder barging the dome.

Continuity: When Homer starts to replace the shingles on the roof there is a box of tiles, however, when Bart climbs the antenna, they have disappeared.

Continuity: The door to Homer's cabin in Alaska changes positions, from facing the street when he comes home from the bar to facing over a cliff when he decides to follow Marge and the kids back to Springfield.

Continuity: The lead singer of Green Day disappears in the shot from behind the drummer's back - he is nowhere to be seen, even though where he was standing before means he should be visible from that angle.

Continuity: When Marge and Homer are watching the news about the silo being found, the '6' on Kent Brockman's microphone keeps getting smaller, the color of his belt buckle changes and the landscape in the background changes.

Continuity: When Lisa is meeting with Colin her clipboard disappears in some shots.

Continuity: When Homer tells Lisa to clap in Alaska, there is some snow on his left ear that moves to the top of his head.

Continuity: When Homer is climbing the dome, there is a shot of the rope. No-one is climbing it, yet a few seconds before people were climbing the rope.

Continuity: When Homer is dressed as General Marriot Suites he's wearing white gloves but after he punches the guard the gloves have vanished.

Continuity: In the scene where everyone is climbing the rope to get on the top of the dome, Homer should already be at the top, but when the camera points to the top of the dome, he does not appear there. The next scene shows him back at the top of the dome again.

Factual error: In the scene where the angry mob is attacking the Simpsons in the tree house, Grandpa Simpson is shown aiming a double-barrel shotgun, which he then pumps to ready it for firing. There's no such thing as a double-barrel pump-action shotgun.

Deliberate "mistake": For the car to be carried by the angry Springfieldians, there would need to be a big jump between the ground and the car, but from the car view there is no sign of that.

Continuity: Green Day's teleprompters disappear from the stage depending on the shot. Most noticeable when sinking.

Continuity: Near the end of the movie Bart and Homer are on the roof. Homer hammers the nail into the roof then stands and the shingles are nailed to his leg, however, you can see that he did not nail it to his leg.

Continuity: When coming down the dome the height of Homer on the dome changes between shots.

Continuity: Homer puts superglue on his hands and gets his hand stuck to his groin. He then uses his second hand with superglue on to get his hand off but that hand dosen't get stuck.

Continuity: A wood appears outside the Simpsons' fence when the dome has been lowered.

Continuity: When Homer is moaning that Alaska doesn't look anything like he imagined it, they are on a mountain. He then puts up his map and Marge pulls it down. They are then in a spin and there is one shot out the back of the car, and they are on a flat road not spinning.

Continuity: When Homer is collecting firewood his footsteps start randomly in the midde of nowhere, with no tracks to the trees he came from.

Deliberate "mistake": When Homer is on the wrecking ball, he hits a fork on one side but in the next shot it vanishes.

Continuity: When the family move to Alaska, the door to their cabin opens to the left (looking at it from the inside) when Homer escapes from Bart and Lisa's "avalanche". But later in the film it opens to the right (from the inside).

Other: When Russ is going to talk to the president, he has his eye scanned. He then puts the squirrel's eyes through. It wouldn't recognise it.

Continuity: When the wall is put up around the lake it is built right next to it, but when Homer dumps the silo the wall's much further away from the water.

Continuity: After Grandpa goes nuts in the church, they go to the car. You can see that Homer has a seat belt on, but when Marge gets out he does not.

Continuity: When Abe goes nuts in church, Comic Book Guy gets his phone to record him. When it cuts to Abe, Comic Book Guy is not holding his cellphone. However when the family drag Abe out of the church, Comic Book Guy is holding his phone again.

Continuity: Eddie and Lou are at the lake making notes about the Pig Crap Silo. The next shot is of the town approaching the Simpson house and Eddie and Lou can be seen in the mob.

Continuity: When the Simpsons see the nooses in their backyard, you see two kids put a pacifier on Maggie's noose, but in the next shot where you can see the nooses, the pacifier is gone.

Continuity: When Homer returns from Eski-Moe's to find Marge and the kids gone, he drops a bouquet of flowers on the bed. In the next shot, the flowers have disappeared, as has the pattern on the bed's quilt.

Continuity: At the start, people in the church switch places instantly. Most noticeable is Chief Wiggum who moves from behind Ned on the left, to a few rows behind Marge on the right.

Continuity: During the bike stunt at the end, Homer's hair flows in some shots, but is completely rigid in others.
