throughout the movie, quotes from The Godfather are said by the actors. For example, Reuben says, "I hear cars pulling in. I hear whispering conversations. Linus crying. Why don't you tell me what everyone else seems to know?" This is almost exactly what Don Corleone is asking Tom Hagan in the Godfather in the scene where he finds out Sonny has been killed. Another quote from the Godfather is when Danny is trying to pull a on Banks, he says, "What I want, [pause] what's most important to me. . ." In the Godfather, Michael says this about his father's safety at the meeting where he kills McCluskey and The Turk.
