Continuity mistake: When the three guards are removed from their armored car the one standing in the middle has blood caked all over his face, however 4 seconds before Waingro shoots his victim the middle guard's face is mostly clean. (00:11:15)

Zim

Continuity mistake: After the last security guard is shot in the armoured truck robbery scene, his arm positions change from being by his side to spread wide apart. (00:12:15)

stump

Continuity mistake: When Neil and Eady meet in the cafeteria, Eady is drinking from a glass. The position of her hand holding the glass switches mid-sentence when the camera angle changes. (00:26:30)

Continuity mistake: When Neil talks to Chris about Chris' marriage, Neil's hand holding his coffee cup moves up and down between shots. (00:39:25)

Factual error: When Vincent enters the nightclub, you can see that a woman is walking through the metal detector, but the security guard is scanning her with a hand-held wand at the same time. This is totally unnecessary. The hand-held should be used only if the walk-through is triggered. (00:43:50)

Continuity mistake: When Cheritto leaves the bank, he walks up to a Lincoln Town Car, which is a 4-door car. A very brief shot shows him opening the front door. The camera cuts to a side view and suddenly the back door is open. The camera cut too quickly for him to change his mind, shut the front door and get in the back seat. (01:46:00)

Continuity mistake: During the shootout scene, De Niro is in the passenger seat of the getaway car and attempts to shoot out the windshield. He empties half the magazine from his automatic AR-15, yet when the camera changes to a front view, there are only 4 bullet holes in the windshield. (01:48:19)

Factual error: In the shootout scene, De Niro loads the injured Kilmer into a stolen Ford wagon, drives backward pushing yet another unoccupied car out of the parking lot. Despite that second car being unoccupied in a parking lot, the car rolls backward (which it can't do in park or with a park brake applied), and after a few car lengths, the pushed car suddenly turns sharply (which doesn't happen with a locked column, which is standard equipment that self-activates when the ignition is shut off). Now, if the car were left running, in neutral, with no brake applied, everything that occurs would be possible. But the combination is very unlikely, especially right behind the car that a fleeing bank robber will choose to steal and ram into it. (01:52:15)

Other mistake: In one scene, Vincent asks one of his subordinates how he is after getting shot. The reply is "Banged up, but I'll live," but the subtitle reads "Hang up, I'll live." (02:06:50)

Visible crew/equipment: When Vincent Hanna decides Neil is already gone, he heads to his hotel room. He enters the room and walks out onto the balcony. The shot of him approaching the balcony and opening the sliding door is shown from outside, on the balcony itself, and the cameraman (wearing a white shirt) and camera are visible reflected on the left side of the sliding glass door. It is more evident as the shot progresses, because the cameraman shifts position and the reflection moves further to the left, becoming larger. (02:21:54)

Continuity mistake: In the scene when De Niro kicks down Waingrow's hotel door, on the police TV you see the sign on the door handle fall off. However when De Niro enters and hits Waingro in the face, the sign is back on the handle. (02:33:50)

Other mistake: After the post-bank robbery shootout, a TV reporter is heard describing the shootout as taking place in a "small southland neighborhood." But earlier one of the detectives was heard ordering road blocks at Flower and Figueroa, meaning the gun battle occurred in Downtown Los Angeles. Hardly a small neighborhood.

Visible crew/equipment: When Neil (De Niro) breaks into Van Zant's apartment and shoots him, watch as Van Zandt flies backward. You can see a wire running up through the bottom of his sweat pants.

Revealing mistake: In the gun battle following the bank robbery, Drucker fires his shotgun at Cherrito. A female pedestrian in the background (apparently unaware she's in the shot) can be seen acting casually, without any reaction to the gun battle taking place.

Heat mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When De Niro confronts Ashley Judd in her motel room, he knocks all but a few hangers off of the metal coatrack. While the camera goes back and forth while they argue, the remaining hangers disappear and reappear several times.

Other mistake: In the scene where Pacino is talking with Albert outside, when Pacino starts singing, the soundtrack on Albert's dialogue is way off.

Visible crew/equipment: In the drive-in shootout scene, the camera and crew are visible in the rear view mirror in the cab of the white Dodge pickup fleeing De Niro and Kilmer.

Visible crew/equipment: When Neil is sneaking up at Van Zant's house, you can see both Neil's and the camera man's reflection in the glass windows on the house.

Heat mistake picture

Revealing mistake: In the scene when Pacino leaves the police station to go to his hotel for a shower, the camera is pointing up a tree lined street. Watch the pedestrians - they are all standing still until the car comes into view then someone obviously shouts action and they all start walking.

Neil McCauley: Roger Van Zant?
Roger Van Zant: Yeah, who's this?
Neil McCauley: You know who this is.
Roger Van Zant: Yes I do, yes I do. I sent a guy to deliver the package. He didn't call, is everything all right?
Neil McCauley: Tell you what, forget the money.
Roger Van Zant: What?
Neil McCauley: Forget the money.
Roger Van Zant: Wh...it's a lot of money. What are you doing? What do you mean, forget the money?
Neil McCauley: What am I doing? I'm talking to an empty telephone.
Roger Van Zant: I don't understand.
Neil McCauley: 'Cause there's a dead man on the other end of this fuckin' line.

Trivia: Just after the scene when Waingro escapes being killed, there's a shot of De Niro looking at the sea through the glass with his left arm touching a window frame, and his automatic gun on a little table. This shot is inspired by the picture "Pacific" (1967) made by the Canadian artist Alex Colville.

Question: How did Lauren know what hotel Pacino was in? Pacino never told her or her mom where he was going, as far as I remember.

Answer: When Pacino is comforting his wife at the hospital, she says "She chose you. She picked your place." Guess the implication is he had been staying there for a long time and both Justine and Lauren knew where that was. Best explanation I have been able to find.
