Continuity: During the scene where Memphis (Nic Cage) is driving the lovely Shelby GT500 Mustang, and he knocks off the mirror, the car stalls as if it's reacting to the damage. He then leans down and tries to start the car by simply turning the ignition like he has a key, but when he first gets in the car and starts it, he uses 2 thin pieces of metal and he had to use both hands.

Trivia
13 Mustangs from 1967-1968 were modified to be "Eleanor" in the movie. One was a True Shelby GT500, but this was used by Bruckheimer as a reference piece and used by him personally. The rest were run of the mill Mustangs modified with bodykits and other goodies. One was chopped up to film certain sequences (in car shots, etc.), 2 were destroyed, and the other Mustangs were modified to perform certain tasks (Chases, Jumps, etc.). See more...
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) - 32 mistakes
Directed by Dominic Sena, starring Angelina Jolie, Christopher Eccleston, Delroy Lindo, Giovanni Ribisi, Nicolas Cage, Robert Duvall, Scott Caan, Timothy Olyphant, Vinnie Jones (add more)
Visible crew/equipment: When Cage's character offers the money for his brother and the brother is in the car about to get crushed, the back window gets broken out twice.
Revealing: When Memphis delivers Elanore to Calitri, he gets punched and falls to the ground. At his feet you see orange tape as stage markings.
Continuity: During the first chat between Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie (she's under the car) there are a number of wrenches or tools that can be clearly seen by Jolie's character when she is on the ground. Every time the camera cuts from Jolie to Cage, then back on to Jolie, the tools are always in a different position or place than they were a second ago. First, they are together, then they are far apart, then they are in a different direction, and so on.
Continuity: You can clearly read many of the makes/names of the cars to be stolen on the blackboard in Otto's garage, yet when they radio in the cars as they are boosted they refer to them by different names, even as Otto crosses off the cars with the correct names back at the garage. Example: #13 '67 Chevy Corvette Stingray - Stacey on blackboard - is called Lindsey when boosted, and #23 '56 Ford T-Bird - Susan - is called Sharon.
Continuity: The Jaguar XJ220 is dropped off at the docks twice, when there is only one on the list. The car is marked off at 1:02:36, 1st drop off is at 1:03:29, 2nd drop off is at 1:20:58.
Continuity: When the young kids go to steal the SUV at the party a security car chases them, with another blocking the road ahead. The shot of them racing towards the roadblock is obviously all one sequence, because their windscreen already has two bullet holes in it as it approaches the security car, long before the guard actually shoots at them.
Continuity: In the scene where Kip is making breakfast for Memphis, the toast pops and clearly it is burned, when Kip puts it on the plate, it magically becomes nicely toasted instead of burned.
Continuity: When Memphis is leaving the restaurant where his mom works, after he has talked to her, we see that there are glass windows on either side of the door as he exits. When the angle changes to show the detectives, there is suddenly a brick wall next to him and a little drug store. Where did the restaurant go?
Visible crew/equipment: When Memphis (Nicolas Cage) is speeding up to take the final jump on the bridge, you can see the camera crew on the other side of the road filming, if you look closely you can make out the shading devices used exclusively to block out the sun from the camera. Look to the left of the jump just before he hits it.
Continuity: When Memphis is driving Eleanor he backs up and hits the right rear-view mirror. He stops, leans out the window and sees that it is dangling. The very next shot it is back to normal and it stays that way for most of the rest of the movie.
Continuity: After Colitri shoots the valve which burns Castlebecks hand, he drops his gun. It can be seen sliding towards the edge Colitri gets pushed over. After Colitri is pushed over, Memphis and Castlebeck stare at each other and Castlebeck retrieves his weapon, it is now only inches from the boiler, not the edge.
Visible crew/equipment: In the "Director's Cut" version, when Memphis makes the impossible jump over the accident on the bridge, you can see the fixed camera inside the car when it first hits the bridge deck, but it mysteriously disappears after that.
Continuity: When Sphinx blows up the black gang member's car, within the space of a split-second, he is very far away from the explosion. He lights the rag, the car blows up, and then miraculously, he is 20-30 metres away instantly.
Continuity: When Donnie and Fred are stealing the jaguar from a parking garage the window is over half-way rolled up on the way out (it's moving in the wide shot, but has definitely stopped half-way in closeup). When the other guy comes and puts the gun in Donnie's face, the window is all the way down (otherwise he couldn't get the gun in). When Donnie opens the door, it's half-way up again.
Continuity: Memphis skids when seeing the road accident, and it is at a noticeable angle. The camera cuts to the police arriving, then back. And the Shelby GT 500 is now straight for the line up to the stunt that follows.
Continuity: When the Firebird is getting crushed the rear center cap is there and gone alternately. The dirt on the driver's door is also different, showing that two identical Firebirds were crushed.
Continuity: When Memphis and the gang are stealing the Ferraris and driving them back, he tells Otto "Diana, Tricia, Nadine, and Rose are on their way." There's just one slight problem - there is no Ferrari named Tricia on the list, as you can see when Otto crosses them off.
Continuity: When Donny steals the Jaguar, the time is 10:00 pm. In the next scene, Mirror Man steals a Bentley with some daylight.
Continuity: One of the cars (Iris) is a 1997 Ferrari 355 F1. The problem is, the F1 transmission option wasn't available until 1998.
Continuity: When Donny steals the Jaguar from the parking garage, the car crossed off the list is a Jaguar XJ220. The car stolen is actually a Jaguar XJ6.
Other: Donny steals a older Jaguar from a parking garage in one scene in the movie. Yet if you look at the blackboard with the list of cars, you'll see that there is no older Jaguar like the one Donny stole. There is just the Jaguar XJ220 (that is dropped off near the end of the movie) and a '99 Jaguar XK8, both of which are the newer models.
Continuity: When fighting the bad guy he takes a full on smash in the face with a knuckle duster yet his face is hardly marked. Maybe all the Superman rumours are true after all?
Continuity: When "Gilligan" steals the '83 El Dorado, Donny finds a package of heroin in the trunk and spills some on the floor. When Kasselbeck shows up, Memphis tells Donny to cover it up with his foot. In this part, it looks like only a small amount of heroin. Later, when Kasselbeck walks over to the driver's side of the Caddy, it shows Donny's foot again, and it appears to be a larger amount of heroin, at least twice as much.
Continuity: When Toby is hacking the D.M.V. mainframe, he says he's found the address of the Jaguar XJ220, calling the car by the name "Hillary." But when Otto crosses it off the list, he calls her Stacey, and when Sway comes back with the actual XJ220, she says that "Bernadine" just took her for a ride.
Continuity: When they enter the shipyard during the final chase scene, you can clearly see the camera mounted inside the police car as it jumps and crashes into the frontloader.
Factual error: In the shot showing everyone getting out of the van, one person is seen opening the rear door from the inside and rolling out. This van is a Chevy Venture, the name clearly shows as the door is closing. These types of vans do not have a handle inside the rear door, making it impossible to open from the inside.
Continuity: When the group is entering the Ferrari warehouse, we see the garage door opening and they all turn their flashlights on. The camera changes shots and backs away, now Tumbler's light is suddenly off.
Factual error: When Memphis is driving the GT500 through the irrigation ditch, he was approaching the motor's redline in 4th gear, he then hit the nitrous. In that case nitrous will not increase top speed. The only way to increase the top speed of a car is to 1. Get new gears in the transmission or rear end. 2. Get a motor with a higher redline. Nitrous won't do either.
Continuity: The jump which Cage makes with the Shelby would clearly have smashed the underside of the car, making it impossible to drive. Also, the car has got a BIG engine in the front, which would have forced the front of the car down resulting in a much steeper landing angle.
Continuity: When Memphis is talking to the English guy during the scene when Kip is trapped in the car crusher, the English guy states that 80,000 pounds of pressure are required to crush a car. This is false, car crushers exert only 3000 pounds of pressure per square inch and this is enough to split a v8 engine in half and flatten the car to the point where it is only 8-10 inches thick.
Factual error: It is clear that when Memphis is driving the Shelby through the drainage ditch evading the cops that he would have blown the motor. The tachometer in the car reads between 7,500rmp and 8,000rpm before he decides to shoot the nitrous to it. this would obviously raise the rpms way above 10,000 and would have destroyed the motor instantaneously.
