Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
Movie Quote Quiz

Jack Sparrow: Oi fish face! I've got a jar of dirt! I've got a jar of dirt! Guess what's inside of it?.

Tia Dalma: You know I demand payment.
Jack Sparrow: I brought payment. Look, an undead monkey! Top that.

Elizabeth: There will come a moment when you have the chance to do the right thing.
Jack: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.

Norrington: You actually were telling the truth.
Jack Sparrow: I do that quite a lot, yet everyone is always suprised.

Jack Sparrow: Elizabeth! [Turns around to face Gibbs.] Hide the rum.

Gibbs: Make ready to sail, boys!
Will: What about Jack? I won't leave without him. [Jack appears being chased by an army of cannibals.] Time to go.

Will: What baffles all men?
Tia Dalma: What indeed?
Gibbs: The sea?
Pintel: Sums!
Ragetti: The dichotomy of good and evil?

Tia Dalma: Land is where you are safe Jack Sparrow. And so you will carry land with you.
[She hands him a jar of dirt.]
Jack Sparrow: Dirt? This is a jar of dirt!
Tia: Yes...
Jack: Is the jar of dirt going to help?
Tia: If you don't want it give it back.
Jack: NO!
Tia: Then it helps.

Will Turner: [Looking at the picture of the key.] This is going to save Elizabeth?
Jack Sparrow: How much do you know about Davy Jones?
Will: Not much.
Jack: Yeah. It'll save Elizabeth.

Gibbs: So we're setting out to find whatever this key unlocks!
Jack Sparrow: No. If we don't have a key, we can't open whatever it unlocks, so what purpose would be served in finding whatever needs to be unlocked without first having found the key that unlocks it?
Gibbs: So, we're going to find this key?
Jack Sparrow: What good is a key if we have nothing for the key to unlock? Please try to keep up!

Captain Jack Sparrow: A dishonest man can always be trusted to be dishonest. It's the honest ones you can't trust.

Pintel: You know you can't read.
Ragetti: It's the Bible, you get points for trying!

Jack Sparrow: Elizabeth, these clothes really don't suit you. It's either a dress or nothing. And I just so happen to have nothing inside my cabin.

Jack Sparrow: Come to join my crew, lad? Well, welcome aboard!
Elizabeth Swann: I've come to find the man I love!
Jack: I'm deeply flattered, son, but my first and only love is the sea.
Elizabeth: Meaning William Turner, Captain Sparrow.
Jack: Elizabeth? You know, those clothes do NOT flatter you at all!
Elizabeth: Jack, I know Will set out to find you. Where is he?
Jack: Darling, I am truly unhappy to have to tell you this, but through an unfortunate and entirely unforseeable series of circumstances that have nothing whatsoever to do with me...poor Will was press-ganged into Davy Jones's crew.

Pintel: What's made this go all screwy?
Ragetti: Well, each man wants the chest for himself. Norrington, I think, is trying to regain a bit of honor; Captain Sparrow's trying to save his own skin; and Turner's trying to settle something twixt him and his twice-cursed pirate father.
Pintel: That chest must be worth a pretty penny.
Ragetti: Oh, it's a terrible temptation.
Pintel: If we was any kind of decent...we'd remove temptation from their path.

Elizabeth Swann: [After cuffing Captain Jack to the mast.] It's after you, not the ship. It's not us. I mean, this is the only way, don't you see? I'm not sorry.
Jack Sparrow: Pirate.

Davy Jones: 100 souls. 3 days.
Jack Sparrow: You're a diamond mate. Send me back the boy, I'll get started right off.
Jones: I keep the boy. A good faith payment. That leaves you only 99 more to go.
Jack: Have you not met Will Turner? He's noble, heroic, terrific soprano! Worth at least four. Maybe 3 and a half. And did I happen to mention? He's in love with a girl. Due to be married. Betrothed. Dividing him from her and her from him would only be half as cruel as actually allowing tham to be joined together in holy matrimony, eh?
Jones: I keep the boy. 99 souls. But I wonder, Sparrow, can you live with this? Can you condemn an innocent man, a friend, to a life time of servitude in your name while you roam free?
Jack: Yep. I'm good with it. So do we seal in blood? Or ink?
Jones: 3 days.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When the water wheel begins to roll, with Norrington and Will atop and then snatches up Jack, its blades (buckets on the outside rim) and two sides of the axle face a specific direction as it gains speed. Now compare the following two shots, as the water wheel rolls away from the camera: When the wheel rolls, just as Jack falls out, after hitting his head on the bar. Then later on the beach, as Elizabeth watches, just as the wheel rolls and falls over in the close-up, the wheel is actually rolling in the opposite direction - just note its blades. Also note the bizarre change of its axle's wide and narrow sides. (01:52:40 - 01:56:50)

Trivia: The rings worn by Jack Sparrow are not mere props, but rings that Johnny Depp actually owns. After completing the first film and learning of the second and third installments, Depp actually bought several rings specifically for the Pirates films. Another one of the rings he wears is actually a replica of an antique ring he owns.

Question: When Jack asks for Tia Dalma's help, she asks him what he brought for her. Jack then lifts the cage containing the monkey and shoots it. Jack then says, "An undead monkey". How is it possible for the monkey to be undead, wasn't the curse on the Black Pearl lifted?

Answer: There is a scene after the credits of "The Curse of the Black Pearl": the monkey got back to the cave and took a coin. That way he turned undead again.
