American Pie 2 (2001) - 37 mistakes

Continuity: In the scene where the Asian guy is peeing off Stifler's balcony, he knocks over a plant and knocks out Christy. In the next shot the plant is back, and in the one after that it is gone again.

Revealing: When Jim's Dad walks in on him and the girl having 'goodbye sex', Jim scrambles around trying to cover himself. At one point, as he's going from the floor to the bed, you can see the string bikini or whatever he's wearing so that he doesn't accidentally expose himself.

Continuity: Stifler tries to 'go fishing' for some girls and throws a long bomb to the other guy who falls onto some bikini clad girls having a picnic, as he lands a previously intact Pepsi bottle is suddenly crushed before he even lands on it.

Deliberate "mistake": During the "breaking up" scene with Jim and Michelle when they're inside the cabin, her hair is crimpy, but when she walks outside and gets into her car, her hair is straight. This is because Alyson Hannigan filmed this particular scene during a break in the filming of a "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode.

Continuity: After the lesbian scene, when Stifler brings in a box of porno tapes, he tosses a tape to Jim. At one angle, the tape lands towards Jim's feet. In the next angle, the tape lands on Jim's chest.

Continuity: In the lesbian scene, one girl pulls her bra down around her waist. She then pulls it back up over her breasts. In the next shot her bra is back down around her waist. In the following shot the bra is over her breasts.

Continuity: In the scene where the Asian guy is taking a piss of the balcony at Stifler's party, you see Stifler and his girl stand up when the pee hits the pillow. Then the camera is switched to the balcony where the Asian guy and a girl are talking. Then again we see Stifler and his girlfriend, but now the pillow is dry again.

Continuity: At the party at Stifler's the other guys are playing cards at a table and the amount of cards lain down, the numbers and suits of the cards, and the position the cards are in change with every shot, and when the cops show up there are no cards at all on the table.

Continuity: When Jim is sitting with his Dad in the waiting room, after he glued himself, he is holding the videotape at an angle which is toward him. The woman in the wheelchair could not possibly see the title of the video but, when they show her noticing it, the tape is being held at an angle facing towards her.

Visible crew/equipment: Near the end of the film, when the guys are getting into the car, the reflection of the film crew can clearly be seen in the car door.

Continuity: When Jim is back in his bedroom, he looks at the picture of the girl, and between shots it moves slightly in the close up.

Continuity: After Jim's dad walks in on Jim having goodbye sex with the blonde girl. After he has scrambled back onto the bed sometimes his legs are on top of the sheet - sometimes they are under it as the camera angle moves.

Continuity: When Oz and Heather try to have phone sex for the second time, there is a pimple on her forehead. After her roommates come in, she sits up and it's gone.

Continuity: The scene where Jim runs into the bell when he's at band camp clearly shows him landing well past the bell. When the teacher picks him up he is literally under the bell.

Continuity: In the scene where Stifler is chasing Finch down the stairs at Stifler's party, Jim separates them both while holding a cup in his right hand, which he switches to his left, then in the next shot from a different angle it is back in his right hand.

Continuity: When the boys are packing the pick-up to go away, Jim puts a backpack on the rest of the luggage in the middle. Next shot it is at the side of track. No-one had time to move it.

Factual error: The movie takes place in Michigan, however when the boys first arrive in town, a sign reading "United States Post Office Seal Beach, California 90740" can be seen in the background.

Continuity: When Jim is talking to his dad at the start about being embarrassed, his arm moves depending on the shot.

Revealing: When Jim walks in his room to find Nadia, the view from the window is very, very a fake.

Continuity: When Filch is explaining to Stifler about having sex for days, both Jim and Oz's hands change place instantly between shots.

Visible crew/equipment: When Chrissie gets knocked out by the plant pot, you can see a safety mat conveniently placed next to her.

Factual error: Jim looks at a postcard sent to him from Nadia and it's addressed to 7 Beach Way, Grand Harbor, MI 49456. There is no Grand Harbor in Michigan. 49456 is a real ZIP™ (postal) code for Spring Lake, Michigan.

Visible crew/equipment: When the guys arrive at the beach house, there is a shot of the pick up going by the house. If you look you, can see the film crew reflected in the paintwork of the blue pickup.

Factual error: In the scene when Jim goes to band camp to look for Michelle, all the flute players (including Michelle) don't know how to play flute, they aren't moving their fingers to match the speed of the music.

Continuity: When Jim is about to play the trombone he has it nowhere near his shoulder. Camera cuts and he has already got it up by his shoulder.

Continuity: In the scene where Jim, Oz and Finch are sitting in front of Dog Years after the call from Nadia, you can see some people in the back. When Kevin shows up the people disappear. The camera moves away for a moment and after it comes back, the people have reappeared.

Visible crew/equipment: At the start of the party, when stifler walks to the door, in the window above the set lights are visible.

Continuity: In the scene where Jim meets Michelle at band camp and he guesses that a bear came, when she is saying "It's like you can read my mind," there is a side shot of her, and you can see that the hair down her right side is one big group followed by a few obvious strands just in front. When the shot changes back to a front view of Michelle there are no extra strands visible.

Continuity: At the beach house, Finch is putting up his graduation photos of him, Stifler, and Stifler's mom. The top photo, Stifler's mom is not wearing the graduation cap, the bottom one, she is. Later, after Stifler's brother shows up and Finch is disappointed, he takes the pictures down but they have reversed their order. Stifler's mom with the cap is now on top.

Other: Stifler, Finch, Oz and Jim all have radios. Stifler says during the lesbian scene that they are getting naked. This should have been heard on Jim's radio (he is under the bed), but it is not. We never see Jim turn his radio off as his hands are in shot.

Continuity: When Michelle gets into her car after the splitting up scene she's not wearing her seatbelt then it's cuts to a different angle and she is.

Continuity: In the scene when the guys are painting their first house, you see Stifler talking to Finch, and Stifler is holding a bottle by the cap. In the very next shot, he is holding it by the bottle itself. You never see him change his grip on the bottle.

Continuity: In one of the first scenes of the movie when Stifler is talking to Oz in a classroom, you can see clearly that Stifler has a cold sore on his left side of the bottom lip. The camera changes to Oz and later on when shows Stifler again the sore is gone.

Factual error: The movie is supposed to take place in Michigan, but you can often see the southern CA mountains in the background in the beach scenes. There are no mountains in Michigan that look like those.

Continuity: In the scene where Jim makes a fool of himself by trying to play the trombone, he yells into the microphone and turns to Michelle ( who is sitting towards the left of the row of seats). He asks something like, "What should I do?" He then turns around and the camera cuts to a different angle. Now, he is standing in front of a girls that is two seats down from Michelle.

Continuity: At the beach house when Stiffler is passing out the porn, he throws Jim a porno movie that has a different title than the one that gets glued to his hand.

Continuity: At the start of the movie, where Jim's father comes into the dorm room after that guy unlocks the door for him, he comes in, and drops the six-back of beer then sees what Jim is doing, at an angle. When it drops to the floor, it is standing. Wouldn't it be on its side?
