Revealing: The movie is supposed to take place in and around New York City, however during the car chase where Angelina and Brad are fighting off the three BMW's, a wide shot clearly shows a street sign announcing Los Angeles.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) - 49 mistakes
Directed by Doug Liman, starring Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn (add more)
Continuity: During one of the scenes when Brad Pitt arrives home, he is driving a Lincoln Town Car, not his Cadillac. This is the car that he doesn't get until later, when he steals it and drives home during the scene when they crash the cars into each other at the end of the driveway.
Visible crew/equipment: John pushes his newly captured prisoner into the back of the van Jane is in. As he closes the van door you can see an extra arm behind John's back moving over to hold the doors closed.
Continuity: Near the end, when the Smiths are hiding in the shed, from the inside the front of the shed and the door have several bullet holes (as do the sides), but in the long shot of the shed, the front is in perfect condition.
Factual error: In the scene that depicts the Smiths meeting each other, they are supposed to be in Bogota, Colombia. The tropical village they're in looks very little like Bogota, a gigantic metropolis with over 9 million inhabitants and very cold weather.
Deliberate "mistake": When Brad Pitt is in his garage and cleans the spot on this collar, he should have turned the car's mirror to the left to see himself. Instead, he turns the mirror to the right so the camera can get a view of his collar. (Yes, it's a common filmmaking technique, to show viewers what he's looking at, but it IS still a mistake.)
Continuity: When John and Jane reach home after racing each other from the restaurant and she crashes her car into his, he's wearing a black jacket just before she hits him and no jacket just after.
Visible crew/equipment: During the battle in the house, when John shows his hand with the gun, the camera reflects on his watch.
Factual error: While John is crawling through the sewer pipes, Jane's monitor shows his GPS location as 47.28 N 12.46 W, 35 feet below sea level. This places him under the Atlantic Ocean, somewhat north of the tip of Spain - nowhere close to New York, or any other streets for that matter.
TIVO timecode = 1:34.
Continuity: While being chased by the 3 BMWs, the passenger's headrest of the Dodge minivan driven by Brad changes from a 1-piece (part of the seat), to a headrest that you can adjust the height and it keeps changing during the scene.
Continuity: When the Smiths steal the van from the Coleman's, a cross on a rope is hanging from the rear view mirror. During the BMW chase, the rope goes from being almost a foot long to about two inches long.
Factual error: When John and Jane are in the elevator at the end, they're both holding MP5A4 submachine guns. The charging handle on both of them are in the open and locked position, making firing of the weapon impossible.
Factual error: During the highway chase scene, the cars crash through the barriers on the highway, but they are filled with water. In areas like New York these are filled with sand, because the water would freeze in the winter.
Continuity: When John sees the BMW's in the rear view mirror for the first time, the cross hanging from it disappears.
Continuity: During the car chase, the wound on John's cheek changes colour between shots.
Continuity: Near the end of the movie when John and Jane are in the shed and taking off their suit coats, there is no slit or hole in John's right pant leg where, minutes before, it had been punctured by Jane's wayward knife.
Revealing: In the scene where Jane is trying to run over John with her car, she jumps from the driver's seat while John is in the back of the car. Right before the car crashes through the fence, you see John through the back window. You also see a head in the driver's seat, even though no one is supposed to be driving the car.
Continuity: When John and Jane open the door to greet the neighbours after the fight, Jane is on John's right side under his arm. In the next clip she's on his left side.
Continuity: During the beginning scenes of the car chase, the golf bag moves in the trunk. In the first clip there are some bags in front of it, but in the next it's all the way in the back of the trunk.
Revealing: When the Company attacks John and Jane in their house, laser beams are seen coming through the curtains. One of the beams moves sideways as if the gunman is looking around. But the beam only changes direction - it comes from the same spot in the curtain - which means that the gun must have been held right behind the curtain. Otherwise the spot on the curtain would have moved sideways.
Continuity: When Jane and John Smith are fighting each other in their house, John Smith is left with several large scratches on his left cheek. Throughout the rest of the movie, his scratches change size, position and shape.
Continuity: During the car chase you see several clips where the car's sides are bumped and have bullet holes, but also several clips where the cars sides are in pristine condition.
Continuity: When John comes home after discovering Jane's identity his neighbour says his car is on the sidewalk. But in the next shot it is not.
Continuity: When John and Jane steal their neighbor's minivan (after their house explodes) and back out the driveway, an assassin jumps onto the back. John hits the brakes and the assassin falls off onto the ground beside the van. In the next shot it is implied that the van runs over the assassin (two bumps), but John has not turned the steering wheel.
Continuity: The second time John and Jane enter the elevator, they both have machine guns. However, when they exit, Jane is holding a handheld pistol.
Continuity: When Pitt is chasing after Jolie, he crashes through a fence and fires his gun, hitting the car's windshield. To the left of where Pitt is, you'll notice that there's one rail missing in the middle. When he climbs through the fence to the street, the fence rail has returned, and the hole left by Pitt is now slightly wider, just enough for him to climb through.
Continuity: During the chase between the Chrysler Voyager and the two black BMW's, the rear drivers side light lens from the Chrysler appears and disapears constantly throughout the chase.
Factual error: At 1:24:48 (the BMW's chasing the van), the lead BMW has a California front license plate (white with red script) but in the rear shots taken from behind the Beemers, the BMW's all have white and blue New York rear plates. Also the front plate is gone after the initial shot.
Continuity: After Jane and John have finished destroying there own house. Jane goes to the fridge to get something to drink revealing one of Jolie's real tattoos on her arm that Jane does not have in any other shots.
Continuity: During the fight in the house John gets two cuts in the face. But even seconds after the fight ends, the cuts no longer bleed, and the blood is dry.
Continuity: When they are both fighting each other in their house Brad throws Angelina against a wall and you can see that she is a stunt double.
Continuity: After John races Jane home and goes in through the back, he breaks a pane of glass square with his elbow to unlock the door. About 1 second later, the break in the glass is different and no sound is heard of more glass falling off to change the shape.
Continuity: After the botched hit in Mexico, Jane returns to her office, a little beaten up, and her associates tend to her wounds. Particularly clear is an injury to her right shoulder - it has bled enough to mark her singlet top, and is covered by a large piece of plaster. Yet when she dances with John in the restaurant, only a few hours later, there is no sign of plaster or wound.
Continuity: In the scenes prior to the Smith's house being blown up, when Jane is wearing only a white shirt, she is not wearing a watch. In the scene just after their house is blown up, where they are lying in the yard, Jane is wearing a watch.
Other: After the Smith's house blows up both John and Jane's white shirt's are really really dirty but when they're driving in the stolen van their shirts are bleach white again except for the blood stains.
Deliberate "mistake": When Jane and John are fighting in their house, John runs by and knocks the teapot over. He fumbles with it then grabs it with the top facing him. In the next shot, the top is facing away from him, so that it may proceed to fall off.
Continuity: John shoots Jane's car, but in the later shots of the film, the holes of the bullets are gone.
Continuity: During the car chase on the freeway, Jane forces one of the pursuing cars off the road by driving, with it, through those large barrels of water near freeway exits. Water cascades over the cars; one interior shot shows that it's virtually impossible to see through the windscreen. Yet in the next shot, a few seconds later, all the cars are completely dry.
Continuity: When Jane enters her house with the girls, the front door has a chain door lock. When John enters with the neighbor there is no chain door lock.
Plot hole: When John Smith is in the elevator, he has apparently switched the cameras in them. When the elevator which he is not in falls, the TV monitor he has been on goes fuzzy. Afterwards, he unhooks the camera from the elevator and a 'no signal' alert appears on a different monitor than that which he had been on initially.
Revealing: When Jane catches the wine bottle that John drops, you can see her holding a second bottle in her hand before he drops his.
Continuity: After Mr & Mrs Smith have been fighting at home the neighbours knock to see what all the noise is about. Brad Pitt has his arm around Angelina Jolie and is holding a tie. In the shot before the discussion ends they have magically switched places.
Continuity: When John smashes a window to break into their house, the size and shape of the hole in the glass changes between shots.
Continuity: In the scene where Jane and John are driving the stolen minivan and fighting the BMW's on the bridge, the sliding side door and hatch alternate between shots of being opened and closed. Jane's hair flies around from the door being open, before it is ever opened for the first time. These changes occur between wide and close-up shots, and between Jane's and John's close-ups, throughout the entire scene.
Revealing: When Pitt is on the roof of Jolie's car, he breaks the window in order to get into the car. First off, when played in slow motion, the feet never do touch the glass before it explodes. Second, all newer vehicles have shatter proof glass both on the windshield and the side windows. In real life the glass would have just cracked, not blown out as it did in the film.
Continuity: When John and Jane are waiting in the elevator, Jane is on the left with a large gun and John is on the right with a hand gun. When the elevators doors open and the two come out of the elevator shooting, they have switched sides and guns.
Visible crew/equipment: When John and Jane first meet in Bogota, you can see the set lights reflected in John's glasses.
Continuity: When John and Jane are having breakfast on the floor after their huge fight, John eats something out of a tall silver container. He then puts it on the floor next to Jane, who picks it up and sticks a spoon in to get some of what's in there. It then cuts to a closer shot of the pair, and Jane is chewing on the food and putting the container down, even though she didn't put it in her mouth.
Deliberate "mistake": One of the times that Angelina Jolie uses her binoculars to watch the approaching convoy of humvees in the desert, she increases the magnification. At the same time, the view changes from showing the vehicles head-on to showing them more from the side.
