XXX: State of the Union

Visible crew/equipment: When Agent Stone first escapes from jail and he is about to get into the GTO, as he opens the car door you can see a crewmember in the reflection of the car. And as they drive off, you can see the huge reflector screen in the back side of the car. (00:13:40)

Factual error: Stone sneaks aboard the USS Independence (CVA-62) to investigate the bad guy's arms cache..yet, when he dives into the water, he is jumping off the USS Hornet (CVS-12). (00:50:35 - 00:57:45)

Continuity mistake: When Ice Cube is running out from jail, he kicks out the ventilator and climbs up the roof. Next shot from far, the ventilator is in its place. (00:11:10)

Continuity mistake: When they are on the train and Stone and the other SEAL guy are fighting in the kitchen. Stone drops his lighter, when it hits the floor it is closed, but when he is on the floor and he goes to grab it, the top is open. (01:27:05 - 01:27:35)

Continuity mistake: When Darius Stone is first infiltrating the carrier ship, he climbs out of the water onto a chain. In long shots he is still wet, but close-ups show that he is dry. (00:51:00)

Continuity mistake: When Darius is hanging on the helicopter, the way he holds it changes in between shots. (00:12:50)

Continuity mistake: When Darius Stone is a waiter carrying glasses of champagne, the number of glasses on his tray changes - down to one and then back up to three between shots.

Suggested correction: Incorrect; he starts with 5 glasses on the tray, 4 when Charlie picks hers. At no point (except the very end when General Jack Pettibone grabs his) he has just three, or just one. I can very much see that it looks that way when Ice Cube's head is in the way (looks like there's just one glass left) or part of the tray is off camera (it totally looks like there's just 3), but rewatching the scene is very clear and evident that the number of glasses is accurate.

Revealing mistake: Right after Darius blows the boats, Steele is on the dock firing at him. It is shown that he shoots a couple rounds but his finger is not on the trigger. (00:24:00)

Continuity mistake: After the prison break they are in a burger bar - Stone gets up empty handed and tells the other 2 how many laws they have just broken. When he finishes he drinks from a milkshake that has suddenly appeared in his hand. (00:15:00)

Visible crew/equipment: As Gibbons' car drives into the car park the dolly tracks are reflected in the red car.

Factual error: Talking about Darius Stone's military record, Agent Meadows mentions in passing that he holds the Navy record for highest dive at 250 feet. That wouldn't be the Navy record, that would be the world record, higher than the current one by over 50 feet. It's fine for a movie to make up some facts, obviously, but here they downplay what appears to be a next to superhuman ability. It's like having the main character running the 100 meters dash in 8 seconds and call it a "navy record." (00:25:50)

Factual error: The way Darius hooks the APC up to the steam catapult wouldn't work. He apparently raises an arm of the catapult and attaches it to the APC, in reality however the arm is on the front landing gear of the fighter jets and the catapult is more like a small sled. (00:57:10)

Factual error: The Cobra is doing about 160-170 when XXX jumps onto the tracks. At that speed, any sort of erratic movement would cause the complete loss of control, even without jumping tracks to get airborne. (01:24:20)

Ian Hunt

Factual error: It's been proven that when falling fast towards water, breaking the surface tension makes no difference in it's "softness", yet XXX is fine when he falls into the water after shooting it. If he fell for 5 seconds he would be going 60-70 mph and would certainly be injured or killed upon impact.

Factual error: The train conductor tells the bad guy that "air brakes are blown, can't slow us down anymore." But air brakes in modern trains are fail-safe; if they are 'blown', they lose pressure and therefore activate automatically. (01:27:50)

Revealing mistake: As Lo bids farewell to Darius, you can get a good look at the back of his neck when he catches the keys with his not-so-injured-anymore hand. When he drives away the camera zooms on an XXX tattoo that simply wasn't there. (01:34:25)

Continuity mistake: When the President at the end holds the medal for the 'unknown soldier', the medal at Scott Speedman's neck is nice and straight in the close-up, but curls up above the star in the shot when the Pres quotes Tupac. (01:32:55)

Sammo

Continuity mistake: When Darius pushes the buttons turning the lights off in the cart where Deckert is holding the President hostage, he begins shutting down the lights behind them, but in the reaction shot those lights are going out later. Moreso, before the camera cuts away from the switches, we see three lights turn off at once, one being below Stone's fingers. (01:28:40)

Darius Stone: The fate of the free world is in the hands of a bunch of hustlers and thieves.
Agent Steele: So why should tonight be any different?

Trivia: Rob Cohen (director of the first film) and Vin Diesel (star of the first film) had both signed on to work on this sequel. Cohen had even begun early work on the project, after having very much enjoyed working on the first film. However, due to time constraints and scheduling conflicts with other projects, both had to drop out of their respective roles, and Diesel Xander was unceremoniously "killed off." Both Diesel and Cohen were unsatisfied with this film, with Diesel in particular expressing an interest to return. Diesel later brought the series back with 2017's "xXx: Return of Xander Cage."

Question: Why does Stone shoot at the water after he jumps from the train?

Answer: To break the surface of the water making an easier penetration. Hitting water at high speeds can be like hitting concrete. By stirring up the water it "softens" the impact.
