The Jacket

No one tells Jack how he got the head injury that caused his death. In the past (the year of his death), he gives a letter to Jackie's mother saying that she shouldn't smoke and that in the future, Jackie will lead a sad life because of her death; and that Jackie misses her and never stops thinking about her. Back to the present, Jack slips and falls and hits his head on the concrete outside of the mental hospital. He tells Dr. Lorenson and the others to put him in the jacket. They do, and his present self is dead, but he's alive in the future (2007). He gets picked up by Jackie (like the first time he traveled to the future) but this time her mother isn't dead.

Continuity mistake: In the beginning of the movie upon Jack's returning home to Vermont from Iraq, when he meets Jackie and her mother on the side of the road, just before fixing their truck, he puts around Jackie's neck his comforter. A few seconds later after her mother throws up and Jackie finds Jack's military tags, the comforter is gone. (00:05:10 - 00:06:00)
