Plot hole: With how much vodka was seen leaking out of Ms. Lewton's mug from the crack, it would have already been empty or close to empty when she took a drink next to the computer and she would have noticed this and the crack. (00:59:00)

Movielover1996

Revealing mistake: In the scene of Tod's death when we see the water leak creeping up toward him, if you look closely you can see the small holes in the tile grout where the water is being pumped up from below.

Floyd1977

Factual error: Later in the movie when Mrs. Lewton is playing John Denver's Greatest Hits, there's two things wrong with the scene: Rocky Mountain High plays as track 1, but is not the first track on that album; second, the song is out of order. The line "but the string's already broken, but he doesn't really care" is repeated twice before her death.

Continuity mistake: Late in the film, Alex Browning hides out in the cabin and attempts to make it as death-proof as possible, securing everything therein with ropes and duct tape, and carefully placing his kerosene lantern in a tray of water. At first, we see that the antique lantern is painted dark green; but, one scene later, the same antique lantern (in the same tray of water) is now painted bright red.

Charles Austin Miller

Visible crew/equipment: A green screen is visible in Agent Weine's glasses when talking to Agent Schrek after they let Alex go during Ms. Lewton's death sequence. (00:58:05)

Movielover1996

Visible crew/equipment: After Alex walks into Ms. Lewton's home before he discovers her blood on the floor, you can see a crewmembers shadow moving on the light brown TV table. (Note the shadow doesn't match Alex's movements).

Continuity mistake: A reporter takes a photo while Clear and Alex talk at the memorial. When we see the photo in the article, it's at a different angle and Alex has vanished from where he should be next to her.

Continuity mistake: Alex buckles his seatbelt when he first sits down on the plane, before the girls ask him to move, making him have to unbuckle to move for them. When he wakes up after his premonition, he immediately jumps out of the seat, not buckled in.

Suggested correction: Since we don't know exactly when he started dreaming the premonition, it's easy to assume putting on the seat belt was part of the dream.

lartaker1975

Plot hole: During the premonition, Carter and Terry are sitting directly next to each other. However, we know that before Carter dies, both Terry and Lewton (who is sitting 2 rows in front of them) have to die first. When Alex sees the report that marks the explosion path, it suggests there is a chain reaction that goes from Tod's seat to Terry's, and then Lewtons. If this is true, should Alex have not died with Tod and Carter with Terry? Tod can actually be seen getting hit in the head with somebodies luggage, and if this is how he died, the news report suggesting a 'chain reaction' is wrong; Tod's seat never explodes. Can anyone tell me if the drawing Alex did with the line going from seat to seat (before the explosion) is not supposed to be an explosion? If you slow down the premonition, both Terry's seat and Lewton's seat blow up about a split-second before the explosion erupts - this is possible but the distance of one of the explosions from Lewton is larger than the explosion from Carter.

Continuity mistake: While Alex is talking with his parents before the trip, there is a small object besides the switch that disappears between shots.

Continuity mistake: Before Alex and his friends enter the airport there is lady in white that crosses the door at least 3 times.

Other mistake: When Carter is basically trying to kill himself with the remaining "survivors" in his car, Billy makes a comment saying that when he saw Alex leaving Mrs. Lewton's place, Alex's shoe prints were in her blood and his prints were on the knife. All good and fine but there's just one thing that doesn't make much sense. Her house blew up right after he ran out, so could anyone still pull off any prints from the knife that killed her, and see footprints by her body? Wouldn't that evidence be gone in the explosion?

Suggested correction: Not necessarily. An explosion doesn't mean that everything around it is incinerated. Depending on where the explosion originated, certain items can be shielded from the blast/fire by larger objects, and I believe they mentioned that the fire caramelized the bloody footprints.

Bludworth: In death, there are no accidents, no coincidences, no mishaps and no escapes.

Trivia: The filmmakers originally had an ending in which Alex grabs the cable that lies on Clear's car, Alex catches fire and dies. Then Clear gets her baby and Carter survives. The test audience didn't like this, so the filmmakers shot another ending in which Alex is decapitated by a crashing police helicopter. But again, the test audience didn't like the fact that Alex dies, so they shot the finish with the billboard, which took 6 days to film and cost nearly $2,000,000.

Question: On the back of the PAL DVD there is a picture of Alex holding back Clear from a car during the day. It looks to be at the place where Terry was killed. Does anyone know if this is a deleted scene not on the DVD? Also, on the commentary the makers of the film said that they shot the bus hit from inside the bus, as well as from the side. Does anyone know where these scenes are now?

Answer: The scene where Terry was killed was most likely shot during the day. It is quite common for film makers to film a scene during the day to get the right lighting effects and then later CGI the night sky and the proper shadowing. This is most effective when you have an area that would otherwise be too dark or have environment that wont allow for the proper lighting for a night shoot. As for the bus, your guess is as good as mine.
