Marv: There's no settling down. It's going to be blood for blood and by the gallons. It's the old days. The bad days. The all-or-nothing days. They're back.

Trivia

Because everything was shot against a green screen, some bits of colour proved difficult. Yellow Bastard especially was hard, as yellow bleeds into the green screen and can't be separated cleanly. To get around this, Robert Rodriguez painted him blue, then turned him yellow in post production. See more...

Mistake Continuity: When Nancy is dancing, she is alternately wearing/not wearing gloves between shots.

Mistake Continuity: The blood on Marv's chin appears and disappears when he's being interrogated by Wendy and the girls.

Mistake Continuity: When Lucille throws the pills to Marv, he catches it with his left hand (while holding a cigarette in his right hand). The shot changes immediately to a close up on the pills in Marv's right hand. Then in the next shot Marv takes the pills, but has to take the cigarette out of his mouth first.

Mistake Revealing: When Marv is starting to dunk the man's head into the toilet, trying to get more information, you can see the rim of the toilet flex slightly from his weight.

Mistake Revealing: When dead Jackie Boy is talking to Dwight, you can see his normal neck under the fake slit-throat neck, and once or twice, you can even see a little device that was meant to shoot out smoke from a cigarette in the fake appliance.

Mistake Factual error: When Marv is talking with the Priest in the confessional, he cocks the hammer of his pistol as a means of interrogation. But in the next shot, the pistol is uncocked, without sufficient time for this to occur. In fact, the pistol is uncocked even when Marv shoots him. This cannot happen, since his pistol is a standard 1911 .45, which requires the hammer to be cocked in order to fire.

Mistake Continuity: When Marv is interrogating the priest, in one of the cuts, his finger goes from being above the trigger, to being right on the trigger.

Mistake Continuity: The amount of cigarette burned up in the scene with Marv and Lucille in the bathroom, changes several times.

Mistake Factual error: In the scene where Bruce Willis is confined in the hospital, where he is talking to young Nancy, a volume respirator can be heard, yet Willis is not intubated and no other paraphernalia are attached to his larynx and only intravenous lines are present.

Mistake Continuity: Dwight is tossed into the tar pits and submerged. In the next shot however, his head is back above the tar, and his face is fairly clean.

Mistake Continuity: When the female Irish assassin sees Jackie Boy's dead body, in the first shot she is starting to grab the window of the car, but in the next shot, her hand is no longer holding onto it.

Mistake Continuity: When the girls are searching the dead bodies after Jackie Boy is killed, the position of the girls in the background changes between shots. Specifically, the character Dallas, who goes from kneeling down to standing between several shots.

Mistake Continuity: While Dwight is searching Jackie Boy's corpse, the blood around him changes once or twice. It goes from no blood, to some blood, to no blood, to a whole giant puddle full.

Mistake Continuity: The amount of blood spewing from Jackie Boy's arm, after his hand is cut off, changes between shots, just before Miho kills his friends.

Mistake Continuity: When Marv and Wendy are driving to the farm to take out Goldie's killer, Marv is smoking a cigarette, and it's in his mouth, but when the camera cuts to a close up of their faces, the cigarette is in his hand.

Mistake Continuity: When Yellow Bastard is holding Nancy inside the farm, squaring off with Hartigan, the arm holding the knife keeps changing its distance from Nancy, shot to shot.

Mistake Revealing: When Hartigan is talking to Shellie the waitress, asking about Nancy, you can tell that the bottles of beer are glued or otherwise fastened to Shellie's tray, because she tilts the tray enough to tip the bottles over several times, and you can see the liquid inside them tilt as well, but the bottles stay put.

Mistake Continuity: When Yellow Bastards "weapon" is taken away, the position of his head changes between several shots. He goes from looking at Hartigan to leaning back screaming between some of the shots.

Mistake Continuity: When Lucille says: "Settle down Marv, take another pill" her head goes from being slanted in the previous shot to being straight up.

Mistake Continuity: When Marv first meets Lucille, as he pours the pills into his mouth, the cigarette he has goes from having no smoke around it, to a large cloud between cuts.

Mistake Continuity: When Yellow Bastard is giving his "Recognize my voice?" speech, whilst pinning Hartigan's face to the floor with his foot, you can tell from his eye line in the first shot that he is a fair distance from Hartigan, nowhere near close enough to have his foot pressed into his face. Yet in the next shot, the foot is in frame, pressing Hartigan's face, as though Yellow Bastard is standing right next to him.

Mistake Revealing: In some shots towards the end when it's snowing, you can see the snow (computer generated) simply disappear, especially in over-head shots. It isn't hitting the ground, it just disappears.

Mistake Continuity: After Jackie has sat down on the swastika-formed throwing weapon, he is shown crawling on the ground. The swastika is then shown sticking out of his buttock in a horizontal position to his thigh. When he is leaning against the trash can, the swastika is shown again, but this time it sticks out pointing downwards (in relation to his thigh), at a 90 degree angle from it's original position. The points on the blade would have kept it from twisting in the wound, and Jackie did no movements that would cause it to twist.

Mistake Continuity: Rosario Dawson's earrings are the pierced kind when she's tied to the chair by the mob. After they exchange her for the cop's head, the earrings are clip-ons.

Mistake Continuity: When Marv jumps off the top floor of the hotel and grabs onto a rail and then jumps over it to dodge the bullets, if you watch closely, when he lands you can see that the shot is actually made out of two separate shots blended together. Watch carefully as he leans forward after the land, he's closer to the camera in the second shot and his movement is not perfectly synced to the previous one.

Mistake Continuity: When Manute grabs Gail from behind, the table next to her and the phone in her hand suddenly disappear.

Mistake Continuity: In the bathroom scene, as Marv stands up, Lucille's arm (holding the cigarette) goes from pointed up in the air to being down by her side, between shots.

Mistake Continuity: The amount of smoke in the air during the scene with Marv and Lucille in the bathroom changes several times between cuts.

Mistake Continuity: When Lucille takes Marv's cigarette in the first scene, she exhales smoke in one shot without taking a puff from the cigarette.

Mistake Continuity: When Hartigan is being beaten before going to jail, there is a close-up of his face. There is a five-inch long, one-inch wide rip in his right cheek. Even though he has scars already on his forehead, this damage just disappears afterward.

Mistake Revealing: When Jackie Boy's hand is chopped off, you can see some of the blood flying out is CGI and appears to be "flat" and doesn't quite match in with the rest of the shot.

Mistake Continuity: When Jackie Boy is picking up his gun after having his hand cut off, all the carnage and blood that occurred behind him (Miho slicing up his buddies) almost entirely disappears. The only sign of it happening is the body of the decapitated man in one shot. Then everything seems to disappear for several minutes.

Mistake Continuity: In the scene where Michael Clarke Duncan has Rosario Dawson tied to the chair, in one shot her left earring is tied next to her neck with the rope holding her to the chair, but in the next shot, the earring is hanging free. The shape of the earring prevents it from simply being pulled from the rope because of how rigid it is.

Mistake Continuity: When Marv pulls back the top of "Gladys" (his gun) in his old bedroom, the top is suddenly shut in the next shot. (Extended Edition DVD).

Mistake Continuity: When Dwight and Gail are talking just before the attack on Jackie-Boy, the wind is either blowing strongly enough to move her earrings, or not blowing at all, depending on the shot. The changes correspond precisely with the shot changes - it's not just random gusting.

Mistake Revealing: When you see characters in closeups when it is snowing, no snow ever lands on them, because it's all digital.

Mistake Continuity: After Miho rescues Dwight from the tar pits by diving in to pull him out, his face remains covered in an oily substance, while her face is clean. Done deliberately based on the novel, but still a mistake.
