I, Robot

Revealing mistake: Just before entering Robertson's office after climbing the stairs, Spooner is behind Sonny with a flashlight. The light shines on Sonny's back and the door, but Sonny does not cast a shadow.

Kristal

Continuity mistake: Right before the Demolition Robot starts tearing through the house, Spooner is talking to the cat, and in the close up shots of the cat it is sitting down, but in the shots of Spooner with the cat, it is standing up.

Revealing mistake: In the climax of the movie when Spooner and Calvin are fighting off the robots, there is a shot of Spooner standing on one of the catwalks shooting the robots as the camera spins around vertically. At the end of this shot if you look closely you can see Spooner's neck stretch out as if he was getting choked well before the robot actually grabs him.

Continuity mistake: Scenes showing the elevator descending from outside the elevator at the USR building are MUCH faster than the scenes showing its speed descending from inside. They don't even come close to matching.

I, Robot mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the start of the film when Del is in the USR building and is looking over Dr Lanning's body, if you notice the shoe changes position from being not far from the body to some distance, also, it changes direction from the first time we see it, we are looking at the heel of the boot or the front, then it is completely side on in the next shot. (00:10:55)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: Close to the beginning of the film when we see Del and his boss in the bar drinking together, just before Del leaves, you see his boss put his hand up to his head, in one shot, you can see he actually has a closed fist to his head, then in the following shot, his hand is open and on top of his head. (00:34:15)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: Close to the end, when Spooner goes to help his friend, the camera cuts to the lad running down the street, and there is no car, yet when Del appears, his motorbike bounces off a car, that wasn't there in the previous shot. (01:22:25)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: At the end, when Dr Calvin, Del, and Sonny are in Robertson's office, when Sonny starts to trick Viki, Calvin has her body side on, then she is completely facing Sonny, then back to side on, then finally back to facing Sonny again. (01:27:55)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When we see Del at Lake Michigan, and he puts down the hologram to speak to Dr Lanning, the silver letters on his necklace comes out of his shirt, in the following shots they are back in his shirt. (01:16:00)

The-Immortal

I, Robot mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when Del goes to USR Robotics, there is a shot that pans up to Dr Lanning's body, if you notice his eyes are either closed or barely open, yet in the following shot they are much further open. (00:10:50)

The-Immortal

I, Robot mistake picture

Continuity mistake: At the very beginning of the film when Del wakes up he reaches over to turn off his alarm clock. The red book, whose cover was partially under another book in a prior shot, has now moved. (00:01:55)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: The time shown on the video that Will Smith watches in the Doctor's house jumps backwards - we see it count up to about 24 seconds, then we cut away from it (still hearing the video playing) for about 10 seconds, then when we cut back it's only up to about 26 seconds.

Plot hole: Sonny hides among the 1000 robots in the big store room. They are all placed in very straight rows. Sonny would not be able to take over another robot's place in the grid (when he starts running we see a large robot-sized gap) without getting another robot to move. And while Will Smith is running around the rows, he would have noticed if the others moved to make room.

Suggested correction: Sonny was already at the factory before Spooner and Calvin showed up. It's possible he moved in a robot's space, and either the robots to his sides or the ones behind him moved back a space (we never see the rows in their entirety), hence no need for any of them to move while Spooner and Calvin are in the storage room.

Suggested correction: Will Smith shot one of them, it's possible this hole in the front of the row caused that line of robots to move forward one spot, to complete the row again. As they did Sonny could have slipped in. When he spotted Sonny the first time Sonny was simply standing between 2, as Will Smith only saw them from the front at that point, when he started running it's impossible to notice a simple step forward of 1 row of robots and Sonny slipping in.

I, Robot mistake picture

Continuity mistake: Close to the start of the film when Del and his Chief are in the bar, in one shot we see Del drink his bottle with two fingers on the bottle, in the very next shot he is suddenly holding it with only one finger around the neck. (00:32:45)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: The robots pouncing on Spooner's car. When Spooner shoots the robot on his left, a robot at the right smashes the front right side of the windshield and grabs the gun. The scene shifts outside where the robot with the gun is falling off. The windshield on the right is no longer damaged over there. A little later during the same scenes continuation, another robot jumps and breaks the entire windshield.

Continuity mistake: After the accident where the car topples over, the pillar is damaged and pushes the car behind because of the impact force. Subsequent scenes show the pillar repaired and the car touching the pillar.

Continuity mistake: In the interrogation room, the dents Sonny made in the table disappear as he re-examines the photos of Lanning, and asks questions.

Movie Nut

Continuity mistake: The bleeding wound Spooner sustains on the right side of his head during his escape from Dr. Lanning's home as it's being demolished is completely healed without a trace later in the film, although others on his face he sustained during the robots' attack on his car remain visible.

Trivia: The very futuristic single bladed fan we see in Spooner's apartment is actually a ceiling fan of today. It's called "The Enigma" and is manufactured by Fanimation Inc.

Question: If Lanning really had leaped from that distance, wouldn't he be unrecognizable upon impact and not with only a little bit of blood coming from his mouth?

Answer: He'd certainly have a lot of internal injuries that aren't visible, would probably have more injuries showing than that trickle of blood, but wouldn't necessarily be "unrecognizable."
