Factual error: The Blue Line train actually makes many stops with stops occurring approximately every 2 min. (with or without passengers) The scene at the end in the film lasts many minutes without a single stop.

Plot hole: Near the end Max calls Annie, using the number on the card she gave him, to warning her about Vincent's arrival. But why is there on the card the number of the law library on the 16th floor and not Annie's office number or her cell phone number?

Suggested correction: The number on her business card is her office line. A lot of office phones are set up so they ring in multiple places throughout the office. A light will blink on the phone letting you know which line is ringing. The line is connected to her office phone, which we see Vincent looking at in her office when she was on the phone with Max, which then gives away her location. This is a very popular way of having phones set up in offices, as it eases communication between co-workers. If one of her co-workers wants to talk to her while she's in the library, they can simply dial her line instead of going up two floors. Furthermore, it is also possible that her cell phone number could be on the card. But Max tried the office number first. He would likely have tried the cell number next, had she not answered.

Other mistake: In the scene where Max and the lawyer board the train, they go down the stairs for their train. Vincent is a level above and gets on the same train somehow. (01:46:00)

Continuity mistake: After this dialog "You might make it through the night, come out 700 bucks ahead". Notice there are fewer cars behind them, next shot more cars behind, then again fewer. The scenery behind the car changes in seconds.

Factual error: The 2nd location Vincent heads to is on Fountain Avenue in West Hollywood. Upon his arrival, the victim is shown from the inside his apartment and out the window, lots of highrises are shown all over. No such real skyline of highrises like this exist in West Hollywood (especially on Fountain Avenue).

Continuity mistake: When we first see Vincent in Annie's building, he is in an office to the left side of the building. You can tell this because there were offices down and to the right. However, when Max is telling Annie "now" there is an office below her on the right side of the building. (01:39:00)

Max: The fat man, the penthouse guy, the jazz man. That leaves two.
Felix: Can you finish?
Max: In six years, when have I not?

Trivia: The film was almost entirely shot in high definition. Director Michael Mann states he did this to capture the night scenes more vividly.

Suggested correction: The number of movies shot in less-than-HD could be counted on one hand.

I believe it refers to the fact that Collateral is considered to be the first major movie to use a digital camera, not the traditional film support.

Question: In the beginning of the movie, just prior to Vince's introduction to Max, what was Vincent doing in Annie's office building? He actually passes Annie (his 5th target) on the up/down escalators. Why not just kill her first?

Answer: He was likely scoping out the building and determining where specifically Annie worked. He couldn't just kill her in public with people around. He had a systematic plan on how and when each victim would be killed.
