The woman and doctor could have easily escaped from the basement if they used the poisoned syringe on the dog guarding the window. [That is not a film mistake. It is your opinion of how the film should have played, a rewriting of the screenplay. It was not impossible for the people in the scene to have behaved the way they did, meaning this is not a film mistake.]
