Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) - 40 mistakes

Continuity: When Ben Stiller goes to the girl's house in the white suit - she slams his head into the wall and a blood/makeup stain shows up...when the camera angle changes the stain is gone.

Continuity: During the final game when Justin is by himself, you can see Owen sitting on the bench without his track suit. When he throws the ball at White you can quickly see in the background Owen is standing behind Justin with his track suit on. Few shots later it cuts back to the bench and he is sitting down with the rest of the team with the uniform minus the track suit.

Continuity: When Martha Johnstone falls on Justin during the cheerleading tryouts, her skirt falls up and is laying on her back; they show this in a front view; but when they switch to a side view, her skirt is back down covering her bottom.

Continuity: When the guys are all sitting around (after the car wash) they are throwing ideas to save the gym. In one shot Gordon pulls his magazine out of his bag, but a split second later in a closer shot he pulls the magazine out again.

Continuity: In the scene when Gordon gets angry seeing his "mail order wife" with another man you can see the dancers in the background, behind Gordon, just standing around. When the camera pans out they are all dancing and celebrating. When it cuts back to Gordon they are just standing and leaning against the pole.

Continuity: When Peter first leaves his house near the beginning of the movie, he throws his empty bottle at a lawn chair, and it bounces off onto the ground. In the next shot, when he drives away, you can see nothing on the ground and what looks like the bottle now lying on the chair.

Continuity: When White is sitting down with Kate at her house, he shows her the red flower he picked from her garden. The first time, the flower looks crumpled and a bit damaged, from the other angle it is perfectly fine.

Continuity: When Peter opens the door to his file closet to show Kate his paper work, the door on the left changes from being open wide to just slightly open throughout the scene.

Continuity: When the Average Joes wins the tournament, fans rush the court as well as the cheerleaders and bondage people. The very next shot the cheer squad and bondage folks are in the stands.

Continuity: When Justin is trying to rally all the boys behind saving Average Joe's, he throws a blue icepack on the couch when he stands up. When it focuses back on Gordon, the icepack is gone. When they show Gordon again, the icepack is back.

Continuity: When Average Joe's team are running to the balls against Skillz That Kill, you see the Lumberjack's feet instead.

Continuity: In the first shot at the car wash, there is a white car parked beyond the lifted truck, in the background. In the very next shot that car is gone. The dog also goes from lying down to instantly sitting up, between the two shots.

Continuity: When Gordon is talking to Peter about the OSQ magazine about midget tossing, right before Gordon hands him the magazine, Peter has an orange juice carton in his hand. In the next shot you see him holding the magazine with both hands empty, with not enough time to get rid of the orange juice.

Continuity: In the first scene that Vince Vaughn goes to global gym to confront Goodman, Vince and Ben are talking to each other. During the conversation, you can see a woman working out on a fitness machine behind Vince. When the shot widens as they are leaving, neither the machine nor the woman is there.

Continuity: When Peter walks into Average Joe's in the beginning you see Owen leaning over the counter reading. His hair is parted to the right and has spots where you can see his forehead (it's grouped). But in each shot where it focuses back to Owen his hair is different each time, sometimes combed nicely with no empty spots.

Continuity: When White and Peter are going back and forth at each other in the Dirty Sanchez, White's "G" charm around his neck keeps going from forwards to backwards from shot to shot.

Continuity: When Michelle takes the screen prints of Kate throwing the dodgeball at his cutout, the screen capture on the monitor differs from what he shows to Goodman at his office. The shot is flipped over and from a different angle.

Continuity: When White pushes the waitress into the table at the Dirty Sanchez, she takes the tray with her as she stands up and walks away. In the next shot, Gordon moves the tray off the table.

Continuity: When Peter La Fleur is presented with a contract to sign his gym over and Me'Shell opens the briefcase to "Show" the $100,000.00 the money appears in the middle of the briefcase, however, when the camera angle is changed so you see the back of White's head you cannot see a trace of the money in the briefcase.

Continuity: After White knocks the food onto the Average Joe's players in the bar, Owen is holding a martini glass in his left hand. The following shot, the martini glass has disappeared.

Continuity: When Peter is talking to White about the deal, Me'Shell is standing in back of Peter. In the first two shots his hands are on his hips, in the third shot his left hand is over his right wrist on his stomach, and the next shot his hands are on his hips again.

Factual error: When Pirate is walking down the street in Vegas and gets hit with a beer, behind the truck you see Binions Horseshoe Casino. Binions is on Fremont street, and that is closed to traffic.

Continuity: When the waitress gets pushed into the table at the Dirty Sanchez, the food splatters everywhere, but none of it gets on Owen; he is completely clean. Then, they have a shot of him directly afterward, and he is completely covered in food.

Continuity: When Joe's are playing Skillz that Killz, the Killz guy with number 3 and a bandanna gets a ball on his behind. 2 shots later, he throws a ball, despite the fact he must have gone out.

Continuity: When Peter meets Lance Armstrong and they are talking, Lance has a bottle of water in his hand. As the camera keeps changing shots from Peter to Lance, the bottle of water changes back and forth from having a cap on it to not having a cap on it. There's no time for Lance to have taken it off and put it on that many times.

Continuity: When Owen wins the match for Average Joe's, the team puts him on their shoulders, and after Owen is put down he locks hands with Patches, but in the next shot, Kate is locked hands with Patches.

Audio problem: In the scene after the referee has shouted that it’s Sudden Death, the commentators are talking. The only sound you can hear is them talking. But if you look behind them, there are loads of people who are shouting.

Continuity: In the final showdown after Peter knocks White down, his team rushes on to congratulate him. At first the court is clear behind Peter, but when the team rushes on there are a lot of balls behind him. In the same scene, there is a large, black box with skulls and crossed bones on it that isn't seen in the wide shot.

Continuity: When Peter and White are in sudden death, White gets hit with the ball and slides backwards. In the first shot he is parallel with the words and the next shot he is perpendicular.

Continuity: When O'Houlihan throws the spanner at Owen, you can see it is a different spanner lying on the floor beside Owen two shots later.

Continuity: When Christine Taylor is on the court by herself and the announcer says "Hold your phone she's got a cannon," she is walking backwards and there is one ball behind her. The camera cuts to the team, then cuts back and there are two balls behind her.

Continuity: When Average Joes are playing the Germans in the first round, only 5 Germans are eliminated, but they still win.

Continuity: When Stiller wants Vaughn to sign over his gym - he hands the paper with the top towards Vince Vaughn - when the camera angle changes the top is suddenly facing towards Ben Stiller.

Continuity: Throughout the movie, Dwight's eye's change color from blue to brown at random scenes.

Continuity: When the chest of winnings is opened at the end, the sign reading "Deus Ex Machine" is visible on the inside of the lid. A few shots later, that large sign is gone. (Don't confuse it with a second sign at the front of the chest, under the lock, that is always there.)

Continuity: The hairy girl scout is disqualified at the end of the game but she wasn't one of the six players in the beginning of the game.

Continuity: At the bar when Goodman says "Best bring your bib" to Peter you see Goodman lift both his hands. When it cuts from behind Goodman you should at least see his left hand, but it isn't up.

Continuity: When a tray full of food falls on the Joe's Squad, Justin has some food on his right cheek. A few seconds later it's clean, and there's some gravy on his left cheek.

Continuity: In the qualifier between Average Joe's and the Girl scouts, Peter starts talking to the girl he hit while another girl throws a ball at him. The girl who throws the ball is almost right in front of him but you can see the ball that hits Peter comes in from the right of screen and hits between the top of his left shoulder and the bottom of his neck.

Continuity: When the six main characters are watching the movie on how to play dodgeball, a young Patches messes the little boy's hair, leaving it sticking up in the back and mildly flat in the front. In the very next shot, the little boy's hair is neat and all flat.
