Trivia
This film was supposed to be Steve Coogan's ticket to Hollywood stardom, but it was not to be. The film tanked at the box office, losing almost US$80,000,000. This is the biggest loss by any independent film ever, and it bankrupted its producers. See more...
Around the World in 80 Days (2004) - 6 major mistakes
Directed by Frank Coraci, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ewen Bremner, Ian McNeice, Jackie Chan, Jim Broadbent, Steve Coogan (add more)
Continuity: When Passepartout accidentally drops the Policeman out the window of the train, he falls to the right, you even hear him go to the right, but when the camera backs out, the train's engine is to the right, according to the way the guy fell, it should have been going the other way.
Visible crew/equipment: Inside the Royal Academy of Science, when the camera zooms in on General Fang's amulet, the reflection of the camera can be seen in it.
Continuity: Arriving at the Royal Academy of Science, there is a wide shot where Lord Kelvin is giving a speech. He is leaning against the lectern with his left hand. When it cuts to a closer shot, his hands are together.
Deliberate "mistake": When Prince Hapi says that Monique should be his seventh wife, she says "you have seven wives?" and he confirms. Actually if she is supposed to be his seventh wife he only has got six wives by now.
Continuity: When Passepartout and Fogg come out in their car, with a big propeller in front of it, an inspector stops them. The inspector then pulls the handle which makes the car start off. A strap then pulls the inspector over and you see the strap barely touching his heels. In the next shot you see the strap twined around the inspector's ankle as he is being dragged after the car.
