Continuity: Hellboy tosses Dr. Manning through the quickly-closing door to escape the pendulum on the bridge - he barely makes it under. Hellboy then spends thirty seconds dodging the pendulum, but when he dives for the door it's still closing at the same point and speed - just enough for him to pass.

Hellboy (2004) - 32 mistakes
Directed by Guillermo del Toro, starring Jeffrey Tambor, John Hurt, Ron Perlman, Selma Blair (add more)
Continuity: When Hellboy is walking at one point, holding his gun up in his left, gloved hand (just after one of the agents has said "This place is like swiss cheese"), watch the frame. It switches suddenly so his right hand (the stone one) is his left, and he's holding the gun in his "right."
Other: In the scene where we see Professor Bruttenholm talking to Myers about Abe's origins, we see the professor pick up what he specifically describes as "rotten eggs" from an open bowl and place them into a tube. The eggs have been sitting out in the open the whole time, but Myers only reacts to the smell once Broom picks them up.
Continuity: Hellboy's oversized "Samaritan" revolver is shown to only hold 4 rounds. Yet he fires at least 6 without stopping to reload during his fight with the first Sammael creature in the museum.
Continuity: After Hellboy falls on the dumpster and sees Rasputin walking toward him, there is a smear of blood on HB's lower lip. It cuts away for a second to show him pick up his gun, and when you see Hellboy again, the blood is gone.
Factual error: When Professor Broom puts the old pieces of paper together, the text translates to "Graveyard 16", not "Sebastian Plackba 16".
Continuity: In director's cut dvd edition, toward the end of the movie, when Hellboy hits Kroenen in a head, and says, "You killed my father, your ass is mine," Kroenen's left side of a mask changes from being damaged to intact, than damaged again from different angles.
Continuity: At the end when Hellboy is carrying Liz off the alter she hasn't got a top on. Later after Hellboy kills the behemoth she has got a top on.
Continuity: In the truck on the way to the library, Abe rises and says, "Outside...with her," and gestures. In the next shot, he's hunched over.
Continuity: When Kroenen slices the statue, the cut where the reliquary splits in half isn't close to any of his hits; his hits are toward the upper half of the statue.
Continuity: At the end of the movie, when Rasputin is about to take away Liz's soul, the shot is over Rasputin's shoulder with Hellboy's front in view. We can see Rasputin's hand move from above Liz's chest to her jaw as he bends over. Then the shot changes to Rasputin's front. In this shot, the hand is back above Liz's chest and is moving to her jaw again.
Other: All the time that Abe has been underwater reading five books at a time, he's never designed a machine to turn the pages? Even a pointer on a long arm would work serviceably.
Continuity: On their date Myers tells Liz that Hellboy loves her. She looks up into his face, but in the next shot she's looking down again.
Continuity: At the beginning when Broom is bandaging his wound, a soldier asks him about Hell. Broom turns to look at him, but in the next shot is facing forward again.
Continuity: When Professor Broom is feeding that thing in the tank rotten eggs, you see him pick up one egg and put it in the tube. When he pushes the tube up in the next shot, you see more than one egg in the tube.
Continuity: In the scene where Hellboy and his group arrive at Graveyard 16, a shot from farther away shows the graveyard in the background and in the foreground are the 3 vehicles in which they drove up. The two smaller vehicle's roof, hood and windshield are already covered in what looks like about 1 cm of snow, although they just arrived. Such light and dry snow that appears to be falling in the scene would have been blown off the car while driving, and a layer that thick takes a lot longer to develop.
Continuity: Kroenen kills the two museum guards on the balcony and they flip as they fall. The shot on Kroenen shows both landing facing up (use slowmo to see ties) and they bounce with their toes pointing up. In the next shot showing Kroenen and the other guards, the dead guards are facing down.
Continuity: At the end of the movie, when Hellboy and Liz are talking and Hellboy says, "Hey, you on the other side, let her go...", he raises his head and their heads are close to each other. When it cuts, their heads have moved further away from each other.
Continuity: When Kronen cuts open the statue in the museum, he in only holding one of his swords. The guards come rushing in and Ilsa says, "get them." Kronen turns and is now holding both of his swords.
Continuity: When Liz goes to tell Hellboy that she is going out with Myers, her arms change from at her stomach and shoulder to at her sides between a shot from behind and the next front shot.
Continuity: After Liz arrives at BPRD, Myers gives Hellboy chili and tells him that nachos are on the way. A dark cat is walking up to Hellboy's left side on the bed. In the next shot, the cat in that place is black-and-white and facing away from the camera.
Revealing: When Professor Broom's coffin is being carried, it is raining, and the camera is overhead, no rain falls in the centre of the picture, as the camera is in the way.
Deliberate "mistake": Every time someone gets skewered through with a blade in this film there's never any blood on the blade afterward.
Continuity: In the scene in the subway station when Hellboy is fighting Sammael, he grabs the monster by the tongue and swings him through a large window. Sammael jumps down and is hanging in the subway tunnel, but can't get away because HB still has a hold of his tongue. The train hits and kills Sammael. But when the shot goes back to Hellboy, the tongue, which should still be attached to his hand, is gone. He's holding his hand out as if it's still there, but I guess they forgot to add it later in CGI.
Continuity: In the final scene between Hellboy and Liz, when he is telling her what he said to bring back her soul, the shots change several times between one of her face, and the back of Hellboy's head, and vice versa. Every time we see Liz's face, she is looking up into Hellboy's face, but when we see the back of her head on the interspersed shots, her head is not inclined upwards at all.
Continuity: When Hellboy punches the car in the street, watch closely: he knocks the bumper off, it moves in the direction of the car, yet it never hits the ground.
Continuity: In the chapel at the end, Ilsa punches Myers and looks down to her right at him. Next shot is over Hellboy's shoulder, and she's still looking down in the background. Cut back to her for several lines and she's looking up and to her left.
Continuity: When Rasputin is talking to the professor about the evil in him, his hand ripples. From the front, his small finger is mostly straight, but in the shot behind, it's mostly flexed. Cut back and it's straight again.
Other: When Kronen is getting ready to kill Broom at the beginning, the Sargent shoots Kronen. One shot hits Kronen's mask and the bullet ricochets off of it, yet there is no dent in the mask.
Revealing: When Sammael throws Hellboy at the subway station into the upper level, slow-mo reveals the wires pulling on Hellboy's jacket at the shoulders. (The use of slow motion IS permitted when it reveals things such as crew or equipment in shot.)
Continuity: In the beginning, when you first see grown-up Hellboy, you can see his legs, and like the comic, the calves are skinny and he has hoofs rather than feet. Yet in every other scene his calves are much bulkier (big enough to fill his pants) and he has human feet which he wears large boots on.
Revealing: When Hellboy is filing down his horns with the small razor/sander contraption, you can tell the small sparks coming off are not coming from the contact of his horns and the sander, but rather are coming right out of the sander, revealing it is a prop.
