Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed

Continuity mistake: There is a scene in which a ghost shoots harpoons through the back door of the Mystery Machine. In the next shot, the harpoons are gone, and when the van gets back into the city you see a shot of the back and there is no damage whatsoever. (01:03:20)

Continuity mistake: When Shaggy and Scooby find the "Faux Ghost" ticket, they pick it up and examine it carefully. The Black Knight came and they ran away, dropping the ticket and never picking it up. But when they are back in the Mystery, Inc. headquarters, they have the ticket. (00:22:15)

Revealing mistake: When Velma is running from the two one eyed skeletons she goes into what looks like a warehouse and the floor is all wet and in some places there are puddles. When the skeletons come they step into a puddle but the water doesn't even splash or ripple. (01:11:20)

Continuity mistake: When Daphne and Fred attach the jumper cable to the Black Night Ghost and the 10,000 Volt Ghost, they run away as the monsters explode. We see different shots of the monsters exploding and then we see Daphne and Fred in the corner running away a second time. It's the same shot as before. (01:12:10)

Continuity mistake: When Daphne uses the jumper cables on the 10,000 Volt ghost, she and Fred get blasted away. When they get up, both are covered with soot and ash, however in the next scene when they meet up with Shaggy and Scooby, they are perfectly clean. (01:12:00)

Revealing mistake: When Shaggy and Scooby fly off the cliff into the Mystery Machine you can see Daphne and Velma's hair hanging unnaturally towards the left, indicating that the set is on its side so Shaggy and Scooby look like they fly into the van. (00:55:45)

Visible crew/equipment: When the gang break into the house at the beginning we see Shaggy playing with an old record player. It suddenly turns on with a bang, and if you look quickly when the camera returns to Shaggy, you can see a hand on the left side of the screen (with what looks like the remote to turn the record player on) quickly pull out of view off screen.

Other mistake: When the gang are watching the news report in their van, Heather Jasper-Howe shows the clip of Fred saying "I think Coolsville sucks" - problem is that there was not enough time for the crew to edit Fred's short interview and be able to transmit it that quick. (00:37:00)

Factual error: At one point in the film there is footage on the news of Mystery Inc's embarrassing attempt to stop the ghouls from stealing costumes. In particular, it focuses on Shaggy and Scooby being dragged across the table, etc. But look at the angle it's taken from: no one could have taken that.

Continuity mistake: After Velma suspects Patrick the Curator of being the evil masked figure, she tripped on the catwalk. She was holding onto one single grate then in the next shot she was holding two, then in the next shot, she is holding one again. (01:15:35)

Revealing mistake: Just after the pterodactyl ghost has been "tied up", it flies off. When Shaggy and Scooby are looking at the ropes, Fred and Daphne duck at the same time. Obviously it was meant to look like they are ducking when the pterodactyl's wings flap, but the pterodactyl has already flown off. (00:09:00)

Continuity mistake: When Scooby puts down all the stuff he found in Wickle's' manor and Shaggy says those are just stuff Scooby wants, the toilet brush is on the left for Shaggy and it's standing up. When Scooby picks it up, he picks it up from Shaggy's left side, while it is slightly lying down. (00:21:25)

Continuity mistake: When the mystery machine arrives at the monster factory, in the courtyard, it is very obvious that Daphne is either not wearing a bra or is wearing a different one than later, when they're all inside the building. (00:44:00)

Revealing mistake: When Fred rushes in to fight the Black Knight Ghost in Mr. Wickles' castle, he is hit in the face several times with the back of his shield. As he falls, you can see the pad on the back of the shield to protect his face. (It is not noticeable when he first runs in.) (00:23:20)

Continuity mistake: In the fight scene at the library, you can see Daphne's boots change from stilettos to boots with a smaller heel and back to stilettos again. (00:23:50)

Continuity mistake: When Velma is reading the inscription over the door of the "monster's hive", her hands are behind her back. Then the shot goes to Fred and Daphne with Velma in the background and her hands are down by her side. When the camera goes back to Velma, her hands are once again behind her back. (00:49:10)

Continuity mistake: After Daphne is shocked by the 10,000 Volt Ghost, the ends of her hair are very obviously fried when she's laying beside Fred after she lands. However, in the next few shots her hair repairs itself, without losing any length. (01:08:30)

Violent Jay

Continuity mistake: When the gang gets back to the Mystery Inc. Headquarters after searching for clues at Old Man Wickle's, Daphne's boot heels are higher. (00:25:30)

Question: I just watched this movie on Netflix but there was one minor change; in the DVD version at the beginning of the film when Scooby and Shaggy come out of the limo, Shaggy is holding a cup from Burger King, and later in the movie when they're at Wickles Manor, Shaggy complains about why they can never investigate at a Burger King. However, on the Netflix version, the line and cup were changed to KFC instead. Does anyone know why this would be changed? It seems pretty strange.

Answer: The simple answer is money. Although it has to do with film studios and distribution companies releasing American films to the international markets. Because of technology, studios can digitally alter products in the film and can now sell product placement rights more than once. This practice started with "Demolition Man", where in the US, Taco Bell is the only surviving fast food place. But, overseas, the restaurant is Pizza Hut. In "Scooby Doo 2", Burger King purchased the product placement rights for the film along with "right of first refusal." Burger King then decided to just focus on the U.S. plug. Warner Bros. Was free to sell the plug for the international market release, which KFC bought. So the DVD version was the domestic release version and the Netflix version is the international release. But, I do not have an answer to "why is Netflix showing the international release version?", but I'm sure it has to do with cost of purchasing the rights to stream, unless KFC also bought the product placement rights for streaming in all markets.
