Empire Records (1995) - 29 mistakes

Continuity: There is a scene where everyone is dancing. It's towards the end but not at the very end. One of the employees of the record store takes his shirt off. Then the camera cuts back and you see the entire group of people dancing. If you look at him he has his shirt back on. Then a couple of shots later he has it back off again.

Continuity: When Liv and Renee are having lunch, Liv takes off her bra and puts it on the table. After that, the bra moves around constantly, all over the table, and eventually ends up on the floor somehow, with nobody ever touching it.

Audio problem: At the beginning of the movie when the employees start singing after Mark puts his song on, Renee Zellweger is supposed to be singing while she wipes the CDs but you hear her singing and her mouth is not even moving.

Continuity: When AJ tries to tell Cory how he feels about her and she is distraught over her episode with Rex, she puts her sweater on and her hair remains under the sweater. Then you see her hair out of the sweater, and then back in again.

Continuity: At the beginning when Lucas is counting the money in Joe's office on the calculator it appears the amount of money he counts. Then when they focus again, there's nothing on the calculator and once more it is there.

Continuity: In the scene where the owner arrives to collect the money, Warren is sitting on the couch with Lucas playing a Game Boy, which very obviously does not have a game in it.

Continuity: There's a scene where Renee, Robyn and Liv are talking behind the counter. Liv is talking and her hair is hiding her ears, then the shot goes to Robyn, and you can see Liv and her arms are still, but when it changes back to her her hair is behind her ears.

Continuity: Whilst in the car Cory kisses the Rex Manning record, only to have Gina take it away from her, to show her how she should kiss it. When Gina takes the record she takes it with one hand, but when the camera angle changes and it is in the other hand.

Continuity: When Lucas arrives at the casino, there is only 1 mirror on his motorcycle, a few scenes later when he wakes up on the motorcycle there is clearly 2 mirrors on the motorcycle.

Continuity: When Debra is sitting outside collecting money with a jar, they focus on her with the jar almost empty, then with a lot of money and then the jar is almost empty again.

Continuity: Near the beginning of the film when the store is being opened, Mark and AJ start to enter and a woman is seen walking by behind them, but when we cut to the shot inside she has mysteriously vanished in a split second.

Plot hole: Joe is yelling at Lucas for losing the money and tells him that he can't leave the couch unless he gets him 9,000 dollars. At this point in the movie Joe could not have known how much money was actually there since he did not close and had not asked Lucas how much had been there when he did close.

Continuity: When Lucas finally ventures off the couch, he takes part of the couch with him. Then he goes and chased Warren, and when they take Warren into the back room, the couch is put back together. Then, when everybody is dancing a woman has the piece of the couch. Then later when Rex and A.J. are fighting, the couch is put together again.

Continuity: At the beginning of the film, there is a shot of the Empire building before the camera pans down.  However, the band equipment used on the ledge at the end of the film is already up there.

Continuity: If you pay attention to when Rex Manning talks, you'll notice that he strays a bit from his American accent. Maxwell Caufield, the actor who plays him, is (I think) an Aussie.

Continuity: When AJ is painting outside after he told Cory he loved her, she comes out to confront him and you see a skateboarder over her shoulder skating down the pavement and then jump off the curb. It cuts back to AJ, and when it shows Cory again you see the skateboarder in the same spot again.

Continuity: When Eddie comes in to actually work, he comes into the back room, takes off his pizza shirt and puts on a button down shirt that is already buttoned. Then he asks where "Sexy Rexy" is and his shirt is unbuttoned. Then after Debra says "Better question, where's Gina?", his shirt is buttoned again.

Continuity: When Lucas is in the casino, we see a shot of him getting passed the dice and grabbing the dice. However, just a few seconds later after his nice little speech, we again see the casino rep pass him the dice, just before he rolls the dice which he clearly already had in his hand.

Continuity: Near the end of the film, when all the shop employees are giving money to Lucas so he can pay Joe back, Gina is sitting by Lucas and gives him her contribution. A few shots later you see Gina walk up to Lucas and hand him her contribution....again.

Continuity: When everyone is waiting for the police to come and arrest Warren he keeps losing and re-finding his jacket. Mark, Lucas, and Warren are all dancing for everyone on the couch. In each shot that switches between the trio and the people on the couch, Warren's jacket is on and the off and then on again.
