Continuity: When Hutch tackles Starsky to the ground after his gun goes off in the disco, Starsky's badge falls to the ground beside his head. Hutch grabs it and holds it up, telling people to calm down, but when the shot returns to Starsky the badge is still there next to his head.

Trivia
In the end when Starsky is given the new Torino, the two men giving it to him are the actors (Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul) who played Starsky and Hutch in the original 1970s TV series. See more...
Starsky & Hutch (2004) - 38 mistakes
Directed by Todd Phillips, starring Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Snoop Dogg, Vince Vaughn, Amy Smart, Carmen Electra, Chris Penn, Juliette Lewis, Fred Williamson (add more)
Continuity: Starsky and Hutch are both called in to the boss' office after robbing a bookie and destroying a Cadillac's roof. When Hutch walks into the office, the top drawer on the right side on the boss is closed. But when the shot changes to the boss when he starts talking to Hutch, the drawer is open.
Factual error: Right after the movie title is shown, you can see in the background a UPS truck. The only problem is that it has the new logo on the side of it.
Factual error: When Starsky and Hutch are chasing Reese, there's a shot of a very modern yacht in the harbor (definitely not from the 70s). It's in the shot where the Gran Torino is doing a skidding right turn into the harbor, right above the car.
Continuity: After Hutch has played his song, his guitar is hunched into his armpit in wide shots, but lower down in close-ups.
Factual error: As Starsky and Hutch are driving back from their "interrogation" of Big Earl, they are listening to the Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight" on the radio. However, the film is set in 1974, and the song was not released until 1976.
Continuity: When Starsky & Hutch leave the prison after doing their twin dragon show for the inmate, Hutch's car window is nearly fully open when viewed from inside the car but is nearly shut when viewed from straight on.
Continuity: In the scene towards the beginning of the movie where Starsky is jogging along the beach, he is very obviously covered in sweat and his sweatshirt has huge sweat rings around his arms and neck. He falls in the sand after checking out the girls, but when he gets up there is no sand sticking to his sweaty face or clothing.
Audio problem: When Hutch is playing guitar after Starsky has accidentally drunk some of the cocaine in his coffee, there are several times where you can see that Hutch's hand movements do not match up with the music.
Other: After taking a knife to the leg, Starsky hops off in obvious pain, not able to put weight on the hurt leg. When he is putting his "bad cop" routine on for the Korean man, he walks perfectly fine, but then when he walks from the door to the table (after Hutch and the man have their meal and conversation), he walks with a very pronounced limp.
Continuity: The opening shot of the movie shows the 'Bay City' police department front entrance, and there is a 2-door silver Torino parked up front. If you look closely, you will see that it is actually Starsky's red and white Torino, but the film has been modified to 'hide' the car from being obvious. Even though the car was shown speeding around in the opening 'credits', it had not made its 'debut' at this point in the movie, so the producers were probably saving its 'first' appearance for the spectacular first stunt scene. The opening shot of the front of the police station shows up later in the movie, yet this time the red and white Torino is 'magically' in place of the silver one. It is obviously the same piece of film, due to the same cars driving by and the same people populating the scene.
Continuity: When they are interrogating the Korean man who shot out the window and tyre of Starsky's car, he starts to talk about "a whitey" and takes a puff of his smoke. In the next shot, only a split-second later, you see him pick up his smoke from the ashtray to take another puff.
Revealing: When Huggy Bear meets Starsky and Hutch in the alley to supply information, there is a closeup on his face as he sits in his car and just before he leaves. In this shot, it is very obvious that the facial hair on his cheek is attached with a glue strip.
Revealing: Towards the beginning of the movie Starsky and Hutch are driving the Torino and they get a call over the police radio. There is a shot of the car pulling a u-turn on a bridge from above. Look at the bottom of this shot, you can see tire marks where they practised the move before.
Continuity: The mirrors on the Torinos make it obvious that there was in reality more than one Torino used for filming. Several close-ups show the Torino equipped with the stock Ford sport mirrors. The glass in this style of mirror is adjusted, but the body of the mirror is rigidly attached to the mount and does not move with adjustments to the mirror itself. In the later scenes during the chase to the docks, Starsky is seen to hit the mirror on his door with his hand as he is rushing to get inside and close the door. When he hits the mirror, the entire 'head' of the mirror moves on a swivel, showing to be an aftermarket, generic 'sport' mirror. The producers tried to hide this by painting both the stock mirrors as well as the aftermarket mirrors to match, but the differences are obvious from one scene to the next.
Continuity: Just after Starsky and Hutch have been shot at outside Starsky's house, Hutch gives the vehicle details over the radio and tosses the mic through the window. When the dispacher replies with the owner details, the mic is hanging nicely on it's hook/holder.
Continuity: At the hospital when Hutch is hugging Starsky, right after Hutch kisses him, you see Hutch holding his hand right below his shoulder. When it cuts Hutch's entire arm is around him.
Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch chase a guy you see Hutch throwing him into a fence so that his cap drops to the ground beside him. When the shot changes his cap has moved to in front of him.
Factual error: When Starsky is coked up, you see him on numerous occasions snorting and rubbing his nostrils (sign of classic coke abuse - done to clear the nose and sinus). As he drunk the coke in coffee, he wouldn't be doing this.
Revealing: Multiple times during the movie, specially during the chase scene towards the end, skid marks can be seen from previous takes which match the car's actions perfectly.
Continuity: In the hospital scene, the tissue is sticking out of the box a lot farther than it is 15 seconds later when Starsky pulls it out of the box.
Continuity: When you first see Huggy Bear carrying the golf bags you see him resting his hands on his shoulder. When it cuts he holds his hands slightly above his shoulders.
Factual error: At the end of the film, when Starsky gets the Ford Gran Torino from the original Starsky, he says something about "not jumping the clutch." The car in the film has an automatic transmission, hence no clutch.
Factual error: In the beginning of the movie, before Starsky jumps their Grand Torino, they are coming out of the police station, and there are police cars out front. But the police cars are 1980 Pontiac Bonnevilles, which is impossible considering the fact that the movie is set in the 70's.
Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch are watching the cheerleaders, Starsky is drinking out of a coffee mug. In the next shot there is no mug.
Revealing: On full screen format, as police chief is discussing Starsky's request for a new partner, immediately before he says "check this out," the number "500" appears on the lower right corner superimposed over the chief's left arm for one frame only.
Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch are looking at the pictures of Reese you see Hutch flipping a picture behind the envelope. When it cuts you can see the picture isn't there.
Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch first visit Reese the drink that Hutch is given changes from being in his hands to being on the table next to him several times.
Factual error: The events of this film take place in June, 1974. But at one point, the boys shoot out the rear window of a 1978-80 AMC Pacer which won't be built until the fall of 1977. While Huggy's '76 Lincoln is also not possible, it's an obvious joke suggesting he has good connections. The Pacer, however, is a clear mistake, as nobody has connections good enough to have a car over three years before it is built.
Factual error: Starsky uses a .45 with night sights on it (for the non-gun people: they glow in the dark). In the 70's they weren't invented yet.
Other: When Starsky is coked up in the dance club he uses the phrase "Wax On..." which is a reference to the Karate Kid which wasn't released until 1984, but this movie is supposed to be taking place in the 70's.
Continuity: When Reese runs away in the car Starsky and Hutch are shooting at him. A bullet hits the windshield, but the bullet doesn't make a hole in it. When it cuts there is now a hole.
Visible crew/equipment: At the banquet when the woman is standing in front of the car singing and the camera passes by her, you can see the shadow from the cameraman on the side of the car.
Other: When Starsky and Hutch arrive at the Bar Mitzvah there is a jazz band playing. Look carefully at the bass player, he's not playing the bass at all. His hands don't move every time he plays another note.
Continuity: In the pre-credit montage of all the main actors, we see "Carmen Electra as Stacey", but just afterwards in the full credits, her character is listed as "Staci".
Continuity: It's a great new car Starsky gets at the end, just like his old one...even down to the licence plate, which is 537 0NN, proving the same car's used both times. You see the original's plate when he crouches down while being shot at, and the replacement when it takes that jump right at the start of the credits at the end. Same both times.
Continuity: After the dance-off, Hutch puts Starsky in bed and places his hand on Starsky's chest. However, in the next shot, Hutch's hand is no longer on Starsky's chest.
Deliberate "mistake": When Reese is looking at Starsky and Hutch's police profiles, his brunette girlfriend says, "Ooh, he's cute, the blonde", referring to Hutch. From the way she says it, it sounds like she's referring to the picture, however you cannot see Hutch's hair in the picture. She had not previously met Starsky and Hutch, either, as it was Resse's blonde wife that was in the room at the time.
