Starsky & Hutch (2004) - 38 mistakes

Factual error: Right after the movie title is shown, you can see in the background a UPS truck. The only problem is that it has the new logo on the side of it.

Continuity: It's a great new car Starsky gets at the end, just like his old one...even down to the licence plate, which is 537 0NN, proving the same car's used both times. You see the original's plate when he crouches down while being shot at, and the replacement when it takes that jump right at the start of the credits at the end. Same both times.

Continuity: Just after Starsky and Hutch have been shot at outside Starsky's house, Hutch gives the vehicle details over the radio and tosses the mic through the window. When the dispacher replies with the owner details, the mic is hanging nicely on it's hook/holder.

Revealing: On full screen format, as police chief is discussing Starsky's request for a new partner, immediately before he says "check this out," the number "500" appears on the lower right corner superimposed over the chief's left arm for one frame only.

Continuity: At the hospital when Hutch is hugging Starsky, right after Hutch kisses him, you see Hutch holding his hand right below his shoulder. When it cuts Hutch's entire arm is around him.

Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch chase a guy you see Hutch throwing him into a fence so that his cap drops to the ground beside him. When the shot changes his cap has moved to in front of him.

Continuity: When Starsky and Hutch are looking at the pictures of Reese you see Hutch flipping a picture behind the envelope. When it cuts you can see the picture isn't there.

Continuity: When you first see Huggy Bear carrying the golf bags you see him resting his hands on his shoulder. When it cuts he holds his hands slightly above his shoulders.

Continuity: In the hospital scene, the tissue is sticking out of the box a lot farther than it is 15 seconds later when Starsky pulls it out of the box.

Visible crew/equipment: At the banquet when the woman is standing in front of the car singing and the camera passes by her, you can see the shadow from the cameraman on the side of the car.

Continuity: When Reese runs away in the car Starsky and Hutch are shooting at him. A bullet hits the windshield, but the bullet doesn't make a hole in it. When it cuts there is now a hole.

Factual error: When Starsky and Hutch are chasing Reese, there's a shot of a very modern yacht in the harbor (definitely not from the 70s). It's in the shot where the Gran Torino is doing a skidding right turn into the harbor, right above the car.

Continuity: When Hutch tackles Starsky to the ground after his gun goes off in the disco, Starsky's badge falls to the ground beside his head. Hutch grabs it and holds it up, telling people to calm down, but when the shot returns to Starsky the badge is still there next to his head.

Continuity: Starsky and Hutch are both called in to the boss' office after robbing a bookie and destroying a Cadillac's roof. When Hutch walks into the office, the top drawer on the right side on the boss is closed. But when the shot changes to the boss when he starts talking to Hutch, the drawer is open.

Continuity: After Hutch has played his song, his guitar is hunched into his armpit in wide shots, but lower down in close-ups.

Continuity: When Starsky & Hutch leave the prison after doing their twin dragon show for the inmate, Hutch's car window is nearly fully open when viewed from inside the car but is nearly shut when viewed from straight on.

Factual error: As Starsky and Hutch are driving back from their "interrogation" of Big Earl, they are listening to the Starland Vocal Band's "Afternoon Delight" on the radio. However, the film is set in 1974, and the song was not released until 1976.

Continuity: In the scene towards the beginning of the movie where Starsky is jogging along the beach, he is very obviously covered in sweat and his sweatshirt has huge sweat rings around his arms and neck. He falls in the sand after checking out the girls, but when he gets up there is no sand sticking to his sweaty face or clothing.

Revealing: When Huggy Bear meets Starsky and Hutch in the alley to supply information, there is a closeup on his face as he sits in his car and just before he leaves. In this shot, it is very obvious that the facial hair on his cheek is attached with a glue strip.

Continuity: When they are interrogating the Korean man who shot out the window and tyre of Starsky's car, he starts to talk about "a whitey" and takes a puff of his smoke. In the next shot, only a split-second later, you see him pick up his smoke from the ashtray to take another puff.
