Along Came Polly (2004) - 32 mistakes

Visible crew/equipment: When Reuben is playing racquet ball with Leland van Lew, you can see the camera crew in the reflection of the glass wall. Also, the reflection of the lighting rig with a crew member standing beside it can be seen in Leland's glasses.

Continuity: When Sandy is dressed as Judas Iscariot, he is wearing a wig and a fake beard. He is clean shaven. The very next scene he has a three-day shadow, but only minutes have elapsed.

Continuity: When Reuben and Sandy are playing basketball for the first time, Sandy's t-shirt is tucked under in one shot, and the next it is fine and untucked.

Continuity: When Lisa comes back and sits on the sofa, her hair is hanging straight down her back, but it suddenly falls over her shoulder between shots.

Continuity: In the bathroom scene Reuben turns on the shower. A little later a bewildered Polly is looking at the bottom of the door door, from where thick steam clouds emanate. When it cuts back inside to Reuben, the steam is moving up and nowhere near the door.

Visible crew/equipment: When Reuben and Stan have a joint pee, there is a front shot near the end of the scene where the rectangular stage lights are reflected in Stan’s glasses, which looks quite awkward because the white bars cover his irises.

Continuity: When Reuben "accidentally" bumps into Polly at her apartment for the first time, he sees her crouching on the floor trying to find her keys in her purse. Next to her is a shopping bag with a loofah in it, whose handle keeps dramatically changing position in each shot.

Other: The scenes that are supposedly located in St. Bart's have Chinaman's Hat in the background, which is a distinctive Hawaiian landmark.

Continuity: When Reuben and his client are playing racquetball, the client smashes against the wall and his tooth falls out. He shows the tooth to Reuben and the hole in in his teeth where it used to be, but in the next shot, Reuben's client smiles and all his teeth are in place.

Continuity: When Reuben and Sandy are talking in the street after the play disaster, and Sandy is telling Reuben about the fake E! True Hollywood Story, Reuben's tie keeps changing. In one shot, the tie has a dimple and is in a full windsor knot, and in other shots, the tie has no dimple and appears to be in a half-windsor knot.

Continuity: While talking in the parking lot, Polly's shawl changes from wrapped loosely around her shoulders to tight around her neck. When tighter, her purse strap is also more prominent.

Continuity: When Reuben makes his toast at his wedding Lisa is holding her hands in front of her belly, but when the camera angle changes when he says “I knew she’s the one“ her arms are hanging down.

Continuity: When Reuben is crossing the street when he "accidentally" runs into Polly, he doesn't have anything in his hand. The camera switches to a shot of Polly then back to Reuben and he all of a sudden is pretending to be on his cell phone. There is not enough time between shots for him to have gotten his phone out.

Continuity: When Reuben and Polly go to that Latin club to dance, after he's had salsa lessons, you see the guitarist pointing to encourage him. Now, he looks as if he's a left-handed guitar player, but a minute later you see him in the background playing right-handed. If you look for it, you can see that his guitar is a Gibson, and on the "lefty" scene the logo on the headstock is obviously reversed, which means the shot got mirrored in post-production.

Continuity: In one of the salsa club scenes, when Polly asks Reuben when kind of guy he really is, a group of chatting people appears in the background behind Reuben between shots.

Continuity: When Reuben returns from St. Bart he removes the throw pillows from the bed, which has a bent wooden back with sharp edges. In the next shot, when he goes to bed, the wooden back is flat and has round edges.

Continuity: When Reuben and Lisa lie on the beach he goes through the real-estate page of his newspaper. He draws a circle around one of the ads at the top of the page, but when we see a close-up of the page the circle is somewhere down towards the middle.

Continuity: For the arrival at St. Bart three different planes are used: The shadow on the ocean belongs to a single-propeller machine, the following close-up shows two engines and an antenna on top of the cockpit, and when the plane lands the antenna is gone and the engines are much smaller.

Continuity: In the scene right after Reuben discovers Lisa cheating on him, Reuben begins to pack his truck to leave the island. The truck is facing the ocean as he loads the truck. However, a split second later he gets in the truck and the truck is facing away from the ocean, then when Reuben backs up, he backs up towards the ocean.

Continuity: While Polly is showing Reuben her ideas for the children's book, her arm and bracelet positions change as the view switches from behind to in front of her, and back.

Continuity: After Reuben’s arrival in Los Angeles, where he is supposed to meet Leland van Lew, he sees him entering the service elevator. They go up to the rooftop together from where Leland does a base jump, using a parachute that he is wearing under his jacket. However, when we saw him at the ground floor there was nothing under his jacket: in the front the belt should have been partly visible, and also the bulge in the back wasn’t there.

Continuity: When Polly meets Reuben for the first time, the napkin switches form her left to her right hand between shots when the camera angle changes.

Continuity: At the end of the movie, Claude talks with Polly and Reuben on the beach. They tell him they are going scuba diving with Leland and call out to Leland on his yacht and wave to him. When Claude goes away and Polly and Reuben head into the water, there is no sign of the yacht (and this is a wide shot of the beach).

Continuity: When Reuben catches Lisa in the act with Claude, the first thing we see are one of her flippers flapping against a metal rod. When we see the culprits in toto, their feet are too far away from the rod to touch it.

Continuity: When Reuben carries Lisa over the doorstep a chameleon falls into her lap and he drops her on the ground. Although she falls on her back the bruise we see at the beach is at the inner side of her thigh and looks like a rape mark.

Factual error: Ferrets do not make anything like the noises the ferret in the movie makes. Most of the time they are completely silent, except when they are happy or excited, when they make soft 'dooking' noises. Other times they will make a soft hiss when playing/roughhousing. But they never sound like sick mice.

Continuity: When Reuben and Leland go to the roof and Leland prepares to base jump, after he takes his jacket off, the parachute straps across his chest are undone. In the next shot they are properly fastened.

Continuity: In the scene where Reuben tries to catch Poly before she leaves for good, he sees from a distance that she climbs into a taxi. He starts running after her but stops at her house, when he sees the taxi turning around the corner and realizes that he can’t catch her any more. In this last shot of the taxi the street scenery is totally different, for example there are two big trucks on both sides of the road which weren’t there before, and it must be the same road because Reuben sees her from her house from where she started.

Continuity: When Reuben leaves Polly’s place after the bathroom incident he carries the loofah with him wrapped in plastic bag. Between shots the white plastic bag suddenly shows a blue and red printing.

Continuity: When Reuben and Polly are in the cabin of The Roo Shooter they are having an argument. Behind Reuben is a clock, in each shot of him the time on the clock changes.

Other: When Reuben and his boss are in the restroom and are going, if you look in the toilet there is nothing going in.

Other: When Reuben and Leland are playing racquetball, Leland loses a tooth. When he opens his mouth to take it out, you can see the space where it's missing. However, when it cuts to Reuben, you can hear the sound of Leland yanking it out of his gum.
