Continuity: In the scene where Charlize Theron and Christina Ricci are in the car and Christina is driving, the camera pans to Charlize smoking a cigarette. The first shot it is half way done, the 2nd time it is at the filter and then again half way done and then it's gone and she lights a brand new one.

Monster (2003) - 18 mistakes
starring Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci, Bruce Dern (add more)
Factual error: This movie takes place in 1990, but that big 'Welcome to Daytona Beach' sign was not built until 2001.
Character mistake: When Selby goes out to meet friends, they talk about going to "Fun World" in Orlando. However, they did not actually visit "Fun World" they went to "Fun Spot" (look at the signs on the ferris wheel and behind the carousel). "Fun World" is another amusement midway in Sanford, FL about 30 minutes away.
Factual error: The film takes place in 1990, but when the crooked cop picks up Aileen after the interview with the lawyer, the exact Crown Victoria model he is driving is a 1993 model.
Continuity: Right after they crash the red Grand Am, one shot from behind the car shows the rear plate as 34516C; later when they are abandoning the car and Aileen is taking the plate off the car, the plate is DZB 86R.
Continuity: Just after they have trashed the red car, Lee and Selby go into the bedroom of the motel and Selby sits on the bed. Lee opens the wardrobe and then starts talking to Selby. If you look closely, you can see the door she opened is sometimes fully open, half open or closed, especially as there seems to be a metallic rack on the inside of it which makes it quite obvious when it's open.
Continuity: In one scene where Lee and Selby are talking in the street outside Selby's house, when the camera is on Lee it's bright and sunny out, but when it's on Selby it's overcast and there are no shadows.
Continuity: When the red Pontiac Grand Am crashes, the car changes model. The red Grand Am they are riding in before they get to the crash scene is a 1992-1995 model (1996s got a facelift). During and after the crash scene, it is a 1989-1991 model. Prior to 1989 the front end was more squared off and the back end was different (1985-1988's had red rear turn signals instead of amber and the license plate was mounted between the taillights, not down below the bumper as it is on 1989-1991's).
Continuity: When Lee is riding in the red car with the John, there is rain on his side of the car. When the camera is on Lee, there is no rain on her side.
Continuity: Disappearing shot..After the car crash and after Aileen tells Selby about the other victims in the bedroom, she goes into the living room and pours two shots into two different shot glasses. Then when they cut back to her one shot glass is missing.
Factual error: Aileen and Selby crash a red Pontiac Grand Am. Although the Grand Am has been around since the mid-80s, the line has had significant changes in its appearance throughout the years (most noticeably with the front hood vents). The movie is set in the late 80s, but the wrecked Grand Am is very a mid-90s' model.
Revealing: Aileen's 2nd victim is driving what appears to be a 1994 Mercury Cougar. The story is set in 1990.
Continuity: As they crash the Grand Am, they narrowly miss a blue and a red flag on the right side of the car, leaving them standing. While outside the car, you can see one of each on the ground on the left side of the car. When they drive away, you can see another blue one on the ground.
Continuity: When Lee and Selby are talking at the table in the skating rink, from one angle Lee's hand is up under her chin but in the reverse angle it's down.
Continuity: Just after Lee and Selby get together, Selby is looking at herself in a mirror while putting on a heavy purple vest but when the shot changes to a closer shot, the vest is gone.
Visible crew/equipment: At night in the hotel room, just before Lee announces that she's going to quit "hooking", a crew member walks in front of the lighting and casts a shadow on Selby.
Continuity: When Aileen is talking to Selby at the skating rink, the amount of nachos in the container on the table increases.
Continuity: When the Grand Am crash is viewed from behind, the bush is completely under the rear bumper, otherwise only a few branches are.
