The Sicilian (1987) - 24 mistakes

Continuity: When Giuliano is shot in the belly there's no visible blood even though he is wearing a perfectly clean white shirt (the mountain-dweller's trademark throughout the movie). Only when they ride through the river some blood stains appear on his shirt. Besides, he is holding on to his right side when they ride through the river, but when the barber does some makeshift surgery on him the bullet hole is on the right side.

Continuity: When Prince Borsa and the duchess return from their ride they hand the horses over to someone to take them to the stables. Minutes later, when Guiliano and Aspanu come running into the court the horses are still on the way to the stables so that Guiliano and Aspanu can steal them more easily.

Continuity: When the duchess comes down the steps to talk to the police captain she has a towel around her head and acts as if she were drying her hair, but when she takes the towel off her hair is dry.

Continuity: When the duchess talks to the police captain standing on the stairs the way she is holding the towel to her body changes in alternating shots (hand on top of the towel, towel wrapped around the hand).

Continuity: When Aspanu sneaks up to the sleeping professor he has a book lying in his chest. He puts it aside when he gets startled, but a few shots later the book reappears without him touching it.

Continuity: When Don Masino comes to the university to get his nephew signed up for medical studies the way the pencils in the jar on the desk of the dean are arranged keeps changing from shot to shot.

Continuity: When the car with the professor, Aspanu and Giovanna stops on the road when they pass Giuliano who is camouflaged as a monk, there is a huge bonfire visible behind Giuliano's tractor. When the camera shows the tractor again a minute later there's no fire at all.

Continuity: Giovanna's hair changes from simply combed back to a more dramatic wave when she kisses Giuliano the 'monk' good-bye.

Continuity: When Aspanu and Giuliano free the bandits from the police station Giuliano is sitting on a donkey cart under an umbrella, dressed as an old woman. Seen from the front he is holding his head up, seen from the side he is deeply bowing his head.

Continuity: When Aspanu and Giuliano free the bandits from the police station there's one candle burning in the office window. When Aspanu brings in Passatempa and Terranova there are two candles. A few shots later it's one candle again.

Continuity: Giuliano and his gang bombs a money train which is passing through a tunnel. The first shot of the explosion shows the train already coming out of the tunnel, but a series of fiery shots later the train is only just emerging from the dark.

Continuity: When Giuliano delivers the loot of the train robbery to Giovanna the way the wads of money are piled up on the floor changes between shots.

Revealing: After the barber is shot dead by Giuliano and Aspanu has fixed the betrayer note on his shirt the corpse takes a rather deep breath.

Visible crew/equipment: When Don Masino comes to visit Giuliano and gets out of the car there is a crystal-clear reflection of two crew members (one in shorts, one with a camera) in the car door.

Continuity: When the communists are marching up the mountains singing The International there's a girl walking in front with Giovanna and her brother with a large red kite. The kite is missing in one close-up of the front group.

Continuity: Shortly before the killing begins there are alternating shots of Giovanna and her brother either standing in the group or on the opposite site, facing them.

Continuity: In the hospital scene after the shooting Giovanna's bright red hair has turned brown.

Continuity: When Giovanna follows Giuliano to the bathroom where he is vomiting her formerly rolled-up sleeve is down to her hand from one shot to the next.

Continuity: When the four men are shot at the estate gate there's desk behind them with a hat lying on it. During the shooting the hat gets blown away, but in the next shot from the other side the hat is back in place.

Continuity: During the shooting at the estate gate there's a cut to prince Borsa in his study. When the camera is back at the gate Giovanna's wind-blown hair has been gracefully redone.
