Please note: Harry's scar does NOT change sides in the boggart scene - various shots in that scene are filmed in a mirror. Also, as with the other films, differences between the book and film aren't movie mistakes. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban book mistakes
Factual error: When Harry is beating up Malfoy and the two Slytherin boys in front of the Shrieking Shack, he grabs one of them by his scarf and rotates him around. The center of their revolutions should be at the end of the scarf (where Harry grabs it), but as there is no actual counterweight for the boy he has to balance only his own body, which moves the center of his revolution strongly towards him.
Continuity: Just before the Knight Bus starts to squeeze between the two double decker's, watch the annoying Shrunken Head at the front of the bus. There's a long shot as the bus is just about to squeeze, and the head turns round to face Harry. There's a shot of Ernie pulling the leaver, then a close up of the head as it turns round again, and says, "Mind your head."
Continuity: While HRH sit in the Leaky Cauldron, as Ron says, "Even Scabbers enjoyed himself," and continues, "Yeah, along with the dung beetle," the stool behind Harry is straight and not under the small table at all. In the next shot as the twins get on Ron, the stool is crookedly pushed under the table.
Continuity: When Harry and Hermione are back in time, Dumbledore, Fudge, the Executioner and Hagrid come out of Hagrids hut to execute Buckbeak and they find Buckbeak has gone. Then Dumbledore says "I don't think the minister's suggesting you had anything to do with this" and in the wideshot Dumbledore steps up onto the bottom step of the stairs leading to the hut, and stands right by Hagrid. Yet in the following closeup as Dumbledore says "How could you..." Dumbledore is now not on the bottom step, but standing on the path much further away from Hagrid.
Continuity: During Hagrid's class, when Malfoy stands before Buckbeak as the Hippogriff rears up, in the wide shot facing Buckbeak, Malfoy lifts HIS left arm with his right arm still down at his side. However, in the next close-up facing Malfoy, HIS right arm is now lifted high up. (This has nothing to do with camera angles.)
Revealing: When Malfoy and his friends are beaten up by an invisible Harry, Malfoy is dragged along by Harry. In the SECOND shot when Malfoy is dragged along (which is a close shot of Malfoys legs up in the air) look closely (perhaps slow-mo) in the bottom right hand side of the screen and you can see a bare hand move into view, quite close to the screen. This can't be Malfoys because he has gloves on.
Continuity: At the hotel, when Harry tries to catch the Monster Book of Monsters, a train passes and some wood powder falls from the ceiling but when Harry steps on the book, there's no more trace of powder on the floor. It can't be completely under the book, because there was powder at different places.
Continuity: When Harry goes back to Hogwarts and they stand before the Fat Lady portrait she refuses to let them in because she's trying to show them she can break a glass with her voice. When she cannot she smashes it upon a brick wall behind her right shoulder. Later in the movie after the students gather around the Fat Lady's painting after it's slashed the wall is missing.
Revealing: In the scene in which Harry, under the guise of the Invisibility Cloak, is dragged by the Weasley twins into the castle by his arms, it's obvious that the twins are miming a person in between them. There is one point when they round the corner right before throwing him onto the stairs, the twins are pretty much side by side, there is absolutely no room between them for a person at that point. They then widen the space again right after they round the corner.
