Continuity: When Marge insults Harry's parents, Harry gets angry and screams "Shut up." In the very next shot, from behind Petunia, Petunia turns her head behind to look at Harry. The next shot is a side on/wide shot and Petunia's head is not turned behind, in fact she is now looking in Vernon's direction. In the next shot, which is again a shot from behind Petunia, she is looking behind again.

Continuity: In the "Care of Magical Creatures" scene, Hermione gets a fright and there is a close up of her grabbing Ron's sleeve. From a different shot seconds later, you can see her grab his sleeve again in the distance.

Continuity: When the executioner goes to chop the pumpkin (the second time), you see Fudge reaching for a crow on his hat. In the next shot, both his hands are at his side.

Continuity: In the Boggart scene, right after Professor Lupin tells Parvati to go and face the Boggart and it shows Harry high-fiving Ron, in the background you can see Seamus start to walk towards the front of the classroom, but he is standing behind Dean Thomas seconds later in the next shot.

Continuity: After leaving the Dursleys, Harry sits down on the pavement beside his trunk, with no room between the two. When he turns to look at the squeaking swings, in the shot from behind him, there is at least a foot of space between Harry and the trunk. Yet in the next shot that faces him, the trunk is beside him once again.

Continuity: When Trelawney is walking towards the table that Potter, Ron and Hermione are sitting at, you can see the book on the table is closed. When Trelawney gasps it cuts to Ron and you can see the book is actually open.

Continuity: After Potter and Hermione have escaped with Buckbeak, Dumbledore says, "I don't think the Minister's suggesting you had anything to do with it." At that time you can see three crows on the roof above Hagrid, and one of the crows takes off. When the scene cuts back there are still three crows on the roof.

Audio problem: In Lupin's Boggart class when Ron gives the spider skates, it cuts to Lupin saying, "You see? Very good.", but the words aren't in sync with his mouth.

Continuity: When Harry climbs out of tunnel into Honeydukes, the boxes on the stairs are straight up against the wall, including the box with the lollypops on the fifth stair. However, in the next shot from above, the box is farther from the wall for the effect.

Continuity: While Hermione tries to coax Beaky to follow her and Harry, in the wide shot she and Harry stop, she tosses the ferret and throws her hands up in the air. In the next two close-ups their positions differ.

Continuity: When Potter points his wand at Vernon and Vernon says, "You're not allowed to use magic outside school," you see Vernon holding his hands down. When the scene cuts back to Vernon, he has his hand by the banister.

Continuity: When Harry first reaches Lupin's office, as Lupin is packing, the Marauder's Map lies open on the desk. The map folds change position when Lupin says, "I saw you coming."

Revealing: When Harry first opens the Monster Book of Monsters, when looking closely, you can see the hollow part of the book that spits out the paper. Easiest to see when Harry is looking under the bed.

Continuity: Draco Malfoy starts eating an apple during Hagrid's lesson about Hippogriffs. During the lecture, his apple changes back and forth from having a few bites taken out to being whole again. Draco himself also moves in the background from shot to shot.

Continuity: When Harry first meets the Minister of Magic in the Leaky Cauldron, and he is being reprimanded for running away "considering the state of things," the Minister places his hands on the back of a chair. His hands change position from shot to shot.

Continuity: When the Whomping Willow kills the blue bird flying towards Hagrid's home, the loose branches from one shot are not visible in the second shot.

Revealing: When Hermione fakes reading the crystal ball, Trelawney insults her and Hermione knocks the crystal ball off the table. As the crystal ball leaves its stand it turns over and the tube used to create the smoke effect inside the ball is visible. Then as the ball rolls toward the stairs, there are no tubes visible.

Revealing: When the students are running towards the portrait of the hippos where the Fat Lady is hiding, watch the railing of the stairs. It shakes back and forth, showing it isn't really made of stone.

Continuity: In the Time-Turner scene, when Hermione says, "Malfoy's coming," it shows her starting to jump through the archway before Harry. In the next shot, it shows Harry coming through first.

Continuity: When Harry falls back after being startled by Sirius the dog, the Knight Bus headlights shine glaringly bright light all over Harry and the trunk. Yet in the next shot facing the oncoming Knight Bus, Harry and the trunk are barely lit by the headlights, which are nowhere near as bright. In the previous shot the light is obviously provided by spots.
