Continuity: When Harry lifts the lid in the Honeydukes cellar, in the first shot there are two gold pots, small and large, beside the table directly in front of him. Of course in the next shot, as the man climbs the stairs, only the short gold pot is beside that table. In the next shot, as Harry climbs out, the two pots' positions differ.

Continuity: When Harry goes to unchain Buckbeak, in the closeup he is holding the metal ring with his left hand after getting nipped by the crow, yet in the following wideshot his hand is below the ring, and he is now holding the metal chain.

Continuity: Outside Hagrid's when Cornelius Fudge says, "...shall be executed this day at sundown." you see Harry, Hermione and Ron hide behind some pumpkins. You can also see a crow standing on a pumpkin right in front of them. When it cuts from behind them that crow is gone.

Continuity: After Harry leaves the Dursleys, Sirius the dog shows up behind a park bench surrounded by dimly lit thick bushes. When the Knight Bus arrives, the bench is visible across the street and now it's brightly lit and the trash container beside the bench is clearly visible. Then, before Harry boards he has one more look at the bench and it is just as dark as the first shot.

Continuity: When Hagrid cries out, "Buckbeak's been sentenced to death!" in the close-up, Harry Ron and Hermione are visible at the shoreline behind him. However, in the next overhead shot Ron and Hermione are much closer to Harry along the shore.

Deliberate "mistake": During the DADA lesson with the Boggart, the body double for David Thewlis (Lupin) is quite evident in some close range, head on and side shots. As a matter of fact, Emma Watson's and other actors' body doubles are very noticeable in many shots not involving a stunt.

Continuity: When Trelawney looks in Potter's cup she is frightened and throws the cup on the table. We can see it landing with its handle inwards on the table. When it cuts the handle points outwards on the table.

Continuity: When Harry puts his trunk on the pavement and sits down you can see him putting both hands to the ground. When it cuts while he is sitting down, you see him supporting himself on the trunk with his left hand.

Continuity: When Hermione says, "Awful things happen to Wizards who meddle with time, we can't be seen," in the shot facing her she places her right elbow up on the pumpkin. In the next shot facing Harry her arm is down on her lap, yet in the next shot facing Hermione her arm is up again.

Continuity: When Harry and Hermione travel back in time, Harry walks towards Buckbeak, planning to save him. There are pumpkins around Buckbeak and there is also a black cauldron near him too. The pumpkins and the cauldron move between shots during the scene as do other items in the background, and nobody touches them.

Continuity: When Neville magically makes the Snape Boggart wear his grandmothers clothes, in one shot the Snape Boggart clutches his red handbag with both hands by his chest, yet in the next shot he is holding the handbag down by his right side.

Continuity: When Marge floats off, Vernon is holding onto her, and Marge's dog is biting Vernon's trouser leg. In a closeup the dog is pulled well onto the Dursely's back lawn, as he bites Vernon's trouser leg, yet in a following wideshot the dog is dragged from the patio and onto the lawn once again, whilst biting the trouser leg.

Continuity: Before Hagrid's lesson begins, Malfoy yells, "Dementor! Dementor!" and they all spin around. Ron and Hermione stand beside one another in the first and third shots, yet in the middle shot facing Malfoy, they're a good distance apart. As a matter of fact, in most shots throughout this entire scene many of the students' positions and actions change and/or shift back and forth in consecutive shots, some quite drastically.

Continuity: When Aunt Marge flies off, she starts pulling the tablecloth and some food stays on the table but in each of the following shots where there's a view from the side, the table is clean.

Continuity: As Harry quickly flies off on his Firebolt, in the wide shot when he rounds the fountain, Percy, Ron and Hermione stand in front of Fred, George and Neville. However, in the next back shot Fred, George and Neville stand in front of Percy.

Continuity: When we get to Trelawney's class when she says "...discover if you possess the sight.", she gets up from her chair. While doing so she place both her arms on the arm rest, but when it cuts her left arm is up.

Continuity: When one of the Weasley twins says, "Not flashing that clipping again." to Ron, we see Ron holding Scabbers. The way he holds Scabbers changes in the next shot.

Continuity: After Harry boards the Knight Bus, Stan hands him his ticket. In the shot facing Stan he folds the paper and holds it between his index and middle fingers. However, in the shot facing Harry, the paper is straight and he holds it between his thumb and index finger.

Continuity: The large hutch behind Vernon actually moves over to the left, closer to the lamp, during the dinner with Marge. At the start of the dinner scene, the chair beside the hutch, behind Vernon, is at least two feet away from the small table, which holds the lamp. As Marge starts to expand, the chair is right beside the table.

Continuity: When Harry, Ron and Hermione first exit Hagrid's cabin to get away from the ministry, they wait a lot longer at the door before running away, than when Harry and Hermione go back in time.
