Continuity: Harry moves closer to Snape at the Shrieking Shack, as he points his wand at the professor. In the first two shots Snape stands closer to the door, yet in the close-up as the spell hits he is farther from the doorway, so he can easily fly backwards for the stunt.

Continuity: At Snape's class when Hermione shows up and Ron says "Did you see her come in?", you see Potter turning around facing Hermione. When it cuts to Snape saying "Now, which one of you can tell me the difference..." you can see Potter is now looking at his book. When it cuts back Potter is facing in Hermione's direction again.

Continuity: At the end of the film when Harry gets on the Firebolt, everyone is running outside, and there is no crowd properly formed beside the water fountain, yet when Harry takes off there is a very large crowd watching him all of a sudden.

Continuity: When Aunt Marge is about to fly out the door, we can see Uncle Vernon leaning on the table with his back against the door and the dog biting his left foot. When it cuts to Aunt Marge coming out the door, we see Uncle Vernon facing the door and the dog is biting his right foot.

Continuity: When Stan Shunpike says, "Take it away Ernie," we see Ernie having a bite of his toast. He then puts his hand with the toast down to put the bus in gear, but when the view cuts back the toast is suddenly gone.

Continuity: As Vernon watches Marge float away, he is on his knees on the grass in the backyard, with Petunia beside him. Still on his knees as Vernon shouts, "Please!" in the shot from inside, his position on the grass is now centered with the door, so as to be visible for this shot.

Continuity: During the DADA lesson, as Lupin jumps between Harry and the Boggart, to their right there are two tall containers, beside one another, standing against the wall with different items in them. The items change in the following shots, including the 'mirror reflection' shot. When the balloon whizzes past the back of the class and the camera spins around, the two vases are much farther apart, but in the next shot facing Harry, they're together again.

Continuity: The angles, length and position of Harry's scar on his forehead, change considerably throughout the film.

Other: When Dumbledore first introduces Lupin as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, the camera pans to the Gryffindor table. You can see that Ron and Hermione are sitting opposite each other with their dinner sets in front of them. Then Malfoy insults Harry, then when it cuts to Ron saying "Shove off Malfoy" Ron is now sitting opposite the girl who was beside Hermione and not Hermione herself, and the girl couldn't have just moved across because all of her dinner set is in front of her too, perfectly set out.

Revealing: When Malfoy and his friends are beaten up by an invisible Harry, Malfoy is dragged along by Harry. In the SECOND shot when Malfoy is dragged along (which is a close shot of Malfoys legs up in the air) look closely (perhaps slow-mo) in the bottom right hand side of the screen and you can see a bare hand move into view, quite close to the screen. This can't be Malfoys because he has gloves on.

Continuity: When Harry and Hermione travel back in time, Harry walks towards Buckbeak, planning to save him. There are pumpkins around Buckbeak and there is also a black cauldron near him too. The pumpkins and the cauldron move between shots during the scene as do other items in the background, and nobody touches them.

Continuity: When Neville magically makes the Snape Boggart wear his grandmothers clothes, in one shot the Snape Boggart clutches his red handbag with both hands by his chest, yet in the next shot he is holding the handbag down by his right side.

Continuity: When the train suddenly stops, Harry gets up and slides the door open. He pulls the door with a tight grip on the doorhandle, then he releases his grip from the handle and rests his palm on the doorhandle. But in the next shot he is gripping the doorhandle again.

Continuity: When Marge floats off, Vernon is holding onto her, and Marge's dog is biting Vernon's trouser leg. In a closeup the dog is pulled well onto the Dursely's back lawn, as he bites Vernon's trouser leg, yet in a following wideshot the dog is dragged from the patio and onto the lawn once again, whilst biting the trouser leg.

Revealing: In the Shrieking Shack, just after Scabbers becomes Pettigrew, when Sirius and Lupin pull him out of the hole, as the camera faces Pettigrew's back while they hold him, the blue tape on his 'missing' finger is visible for 2 frames. (It is necessary to go frame-by-frame.)

Audio problem: Near the Shrieking Shack, when Malfoy says to Hermione, "How dare you talk to me! You filthy little mudblood!" cloaked Harry whomps him with a snowball. In the next wide shot, Crabbe visually asks, "Who is that?" though no sound is heard.

Continuity: In the Boggart scene, Lupin jumps in front of Harry to stop him from facing the Boggart. Between the shot directly before he jumps and the shot where he jumps, there is a dramatic change in his hairstyle.

Continuity: In the shots facing Harry, when he unbuckles the belt around the Monster Book of Monsters and when he lifts the book to look at it, the wood box on the dresser near the the water pitcher faces the fireplace. In the rest of the shots it faces the bed.

Continuity: When Harry and Hermione are running from the werewolf, they hide behind a tree and start edging around it to avoid the werewolf. When they are eventually seen by the werewolf, Harry is at least a foot behind Hermione but in the next shot he is beside her.

Continuity: When Marge arrives, as she walks towards Petunia, there are two gold trim bars installed between the carpet edges and kitchen floor - one in the doorway and another between the kitchen counter and wall. Both disappear in the following shots.
