The Rundown (2003) - 38 mistakes

Continuity: Beck walks into a bar in the middle of a jungle and soon engages in a conversation with Mariana who is sitting at the end of the bar nursing an orange juice/soda while reading a book. She almost finishes her drink when Beck complains to her that where he comes from "there are bartenders." She then moves over to the bar, taking the almost empty glass with her, and proceeds to serve Beck a beer. When the camera switches angle and zooms in to Beck, slowly cutting Mariana out of view, she's seen taking another sip of orange drink, but now the glass is about half full.

Continuity: When the Rock finally starts using guns, there is one shot where the three holes in his tee shirt are on the right side of his chest, because it is a flipped shot. The holes are on the left side of his chest in every other shot.

Continuity: When The Rock and Seann William Scott are tumbling down the big hill, Seann William Scott is handcuffed as they start but throughout the scene is uncuffed and then cuffed as he tumbles.

Continuity: When Beck walks up to Brian and says "Excuse me", Brian looks up at him. When it cuts, he is still talking with his friends.

Continuity: When Beck shoves the gun in Harvey's mouth, Harvey grabs the gun holding it with both hands. As it cuts to Beck pointing the other gun at Hatcher, Harvey is holding the gun in his mouth with one hand only.

Continuity: When Beck gets to the bar, Mariana is sitting while holding a newspaper with both hands. When it cuts, she is suddenly grabbing her glass.

Continuity: When Beck asks Declan "Is that duct tape?," Beck is holding his hand against the window. When it cuts from outside the window, his hand is suddenly gone.

Factual error: The monkeys that are threatening The Rock when he is hanging in the trees are baboons which are native to Africa, not to the Americas. In a magazine interview about the movie The Rock mentions "howler monkeys" (which are from South America)

Continuity: As the shelf falls over Harvey, he falls on his side. When it cuts to the shelf landing on him, he is suddenly on his knees.

Continuity: When Billy hands over the envelope with the new mission to Beck, Beck is holding an ice bag to his head. Beck then lowers the bag and is about to throw it on the counter when it cuts to a close-up of Beck where his shoulder is perfectly still like he isn't placing the ice bag on the counter at all.

Continuity: When Beck is holding the ice bag, it is in his right hand and he places it on his right side. A few moments later the bag is on his left side.

Continuity: When Travis and Beck walk down the stairs outside Billy's house, they switch sides when it cuts to another shot.

Deliberate "mistake": When Beck and Travis dive off the road and roll down hill, their stunt doubles are quite noticeable in many of the shots down the hill.

Continuity: When Beck tells Billy he wants his money now, Billy says "OK" and walks away, then Beck has both hands placed on the counter. When it cuts, he places his hand on the counter again.

Continuity: At the end of the movie when Travis is playing with the Rock, you see Travis wearing a necklace. In the next shot the necklace is well hidden under his shirt.

Continuity: When the miner grabs the gold pieces from the weight, he leaves 3 pieces on it. When it cuts to another shot there are only 2 pieces left.

Continuity: Watch Billy's towel hanging over his shoulder. First there are stripes on the towel, then the towel is folded and the stripes are gone, then the stripes reappear again.

Continuity: Mariana puts a bottle of beer between Hatcher and his hat. When the little man runs out of the bar you can see the bottle is gone and the hat has moved closer to Hatcher.

Continuity: Earlier in the movie when the "Konlabos" fruits are first introduced, they have a light green skin with little spikes or bumps on them. Later in the movie when Beck gives them to Billy and the bodyguards, the fruit is dark green with smooth skin.

Continuity: When the Rock and the pilot are driving from the airfield to the town, there is a section where you can tell it is two different people entirely sitting in the Jeep. They are passing a sign reading Hell Dorado.

Revealing: The car that falls into the water has a surprising lack of damage after such a long tumble.

Continuity: At the end of the rebel fight where Beck gets beat up by the rebels, he kicks Manito (the main rebel in the fight) on the ground and puts a knife to his throat. As soon as he does this, the knife in his hand is upward, when the shot switches, the knife is being held downward.

Continuity: While Travis and Beck roll down the hill, the Jeep (also rolling down the hill) is nowhere to be seen.

Continuity: After Beck drop kicked Harvey, he tries to get up on his feet while he is lying a foot away from a shelf. When it cuts to the shelf falling over him, he is lying right next to it.

Continuity: When the guy cuts the table in two with his whip, the table lands on the floor behind him. When it cuts to a close-up of him, the table is still in the air behind him.

Continuity: Notice the clock in the background when Travis is talking with Mariana. It changes between shots, during their whole conversation.

Continuity: When Beck puts Travis to the floor in the bar, Travis lies on his stomach. But when Beck lifts him up, you see him lifting him up while Travis lies on his back.

Continuity: Billy is discussing a new mission with Beck and has a towel around his shoulder. It cuts to another angle and the towel is gone. Then it reappears in the next shot.

Continuity: There's a scene after the bar fight where Beck is leading Travis through the jungle, his scar on his right side disappears then reappears near the end of the scene.

Continuity: When Beck and Travis plunge into the water after their tumble, one shot shows the Jeep rotating numerous times as it falls towards the water, but then in the next shot, it shows the front section of the Jeep splashing into the water.

Revealing: During the scene where Travis is pinned down by Hatcher's men inside the bus in the town square, there is a brief cut to one of the sharpshooters, whose shoulder patch is reversed.

Continuity: When Travis says "There's always an option 'C'", he grabs a bottle with his right hand and swings it against Beck. When it cuts, he is swinging the bottle with his left hand instead.

Continuity: When Brian says "Who'll I make this out to?" about to sign an autograph for Beck, there is no hand on his shoulder. When it cuts, a hand is resting on his left shoulder.

Continuity: At the start of the scene where The Rock walks into the bar in Brazil for the first time, you see him put away his sunglasses in his jacket. Then, the camera gives a wider shot and he repeats the action.

Continuity: In the jungle when Beck is handcuffing Travis he first takes Travis' arm behind Travis' neck. Then it cuts and both Travis' arms are behind his neck. When it cuts again both Travis' arms are behind his back being handcuffed.

Continuity: When Travis Walker is fighting the guy in the store, if you watch the window as he is doing his "thunder lighting" effect there are sometimes cows running and sometimes not.

Continuity: After Beck has been shot with the bags, one bag is lying by his foot and the other a foot away from his chest. When it cuts, the one that was a foot from his chest is now lying about three feet from him.

Factual error: How on earth does Travis lift the statue of El Gato with one hand? He waves it about as if it were made of papier mache. It is made of solid gold - and it is going to weigh more than 20 kilograms.
